Is gland swelling normal for wisdom teeth extraction?

Hi, I had 3 wisdom teeth removed on 4/1. They were able to remove the teeth intact without cutting my gums or breaking the teeth. I know some swelling is normal, but I'm having slight pain on the glands under my ears. Is this normal? Mainly, the glands feel swollen, but I have no temperature and the clots are still in place. On one side, the clot looks black like it was blood and on the other side, the clot looks greyish. Just want to be sure nothing is wrong and this is normal. I didn't start smoking til later yesterday and the clots are still in place. I've been using a heating pad to help with the slight swelling feel.

Is gland swelling normal for wisdom teeth extraction?
Swelling of the glands means there is an infection somewhere. It may just go away in a day or two. Our glands are designed to collect the by products of infections. That is why when you have a sore throat, your glands will swell sometimes. Just take some pain pills and if it doesn't go away in a couple of days, call your dentist.
Reply:Yes that is normal wait a week and it should go down, if not go to the dr

I want one of my teeth temorarly filled can they do it?

When I was seven I broke my tooth. I went to a emergency denist and he put a temory filling in but now this filling has worn down. Though when he put my filling in my teeth wasn't the same size theres a big difference now and im not having it capped till im 18! I'm 12 now can they put a temporary filling in so my teeth are the same size?

I want one of my teeth temorarly filled can they do it?
Temporary fillings are exactly that, temporary. At my office we have patients only keep them in for about a few weeks. This is because they are likely to fall out or fail. I would talk to your dentist about a payment plan of some sort so you can get the crown put on ASAP. If you need a crown on a tooth and wait to long (especially years!) the tooth is likely to crack and not be repairable. Meaning you will have to get it pulled, then you will either have to keep the cap in your teeth, or have a bridge or implant. Both of which are very expensive. My advice would be to crown that tooth before that happens.
Reply:hmm i think they can but im not sure you should just ask the dentist they will tell u
Reply:uh y arent u capping it till ur 18, if u need it just go do it
Reply:From what it sounds like, the "temporary" filling they put on was a type of tooth colored plastic material (composite resin). The reason they do it this way for kids is because your teeth are still immature and if they try to put a crown on it, you risk exposing the pulp. The pulp will get smaller as you get older and then they'll be able to crown it normally. If the composite has worn down or fallen off, the dentist can replace it with the same material. At 12, it's still probably too early to do a crown...but it depends on the tooth and what it looks like on the xray. Your dentist will be able to advise best.

White marks on my teeth, they are breaking?

For the past few years i have had white marks on alot of my teeth..and recently they have been caving in, leaving holes in my teeth...wherever theres a white blotch, give it a few months and it'll break and leave a hole..does drinking alot of Coke cause it? and what should i do? can a dentist just patch them up with fillins?

ps: one happaned about 10 minutes ago on a tooth up the very back :/

White marks on my teeth, they are breaking?
sounds like you have some areas where the teeth are decalcified (the beginning of a cavity) which are then breaking down and becoming cavitated. This could be diet related (drinking too much Coke) or oral hygiene related (not keeping them clean enough) but you should go to a dentist asap so he can take a look and see what needs to be done to fix you up and counsel you on how to stop them from returning because even if they are fixed if you don't change your habits more will form
Reply:its called decalcification
Reply:Go to the Dentist now!

The coke may be wearing your teeth down. Have you ever read any of the facts on coke? I didn't have soda for a year after.
Reply:Usually white marks indicate too much flouride was ingested when you were little. Head to the Dentist before you get some major damage.

Wisdom Teeth and swollen gum?

I am in pain. My wisdom tooth came out years ago and its mostly chipped away. It has a few sharp edges that I did notice. Its already been about 4 days that I noticed pain when I bite down. My gum is swelling on top of my broken wisdom tooth. It looks like a small bubble and it hurts to the touch. Could this be an infection. I cant even eat nor talk right. Should I go to a Doctor or a dentist? Has this happened to anyone else?

Wisdom Teeth and swollen gum?
Go to dentist immediately, you probably have an abscess under the tooth.

Dentist will give you something to remove infection, it can then be removed.

It will not get better only worse.

Regards
Reply:Dude, you probably need to get that tooth removed. Get to a dentist ASAP and they can give you the scoop on what's really going on. Most likely it is infected. When my wisdom teeth started to come in they caused me a lot of problems and I was having trouble eating normal foods for the longest time. Thankfully I got them removed, and no problems since! I know you've had it awhile, but it could be the same kind of thing.

Good luck!

I hurt my teeth while sleeping. how can I stop?

and I dont grind with my teeth, I press my front teeth at each other, side to side. can you imagine that? and it hurts so much while sleeping and I'm so affraid that I will break my teeth. but I cant stop. I do wake up, but not completely. I comprehend what I'm doing, but I'm not that fast in my mind to stop this.

what to do? luckly I didnt do that for a long time.

I hurt my teeth while sleeping. how can I stop?
get a night guard made by your dentist
Reply:visit the dentist!!!

maybe you have a tooth in the back that causes this!!
Reply:wear a sports mouth guard, they're cheap.
Reply:Go to your dentist and get a mouth guard.
Reply:get a mouth piece to soften your bite over nite .......
Reply:put them in a cup on the nightstand.
Reply:get a mouuth garud
Reply:Get a mouthpiece made, like athletes use.
Reply:take them out at night
Reply:yes, consult your dentist. They make night time mouth guards for that type of thing.
Reply:go see a dr
Reply:If you want a cheap solution, you can try wearing a sports mouthguard to bed.

A better and more expensive solution would be to go to a dentist and ask for help. He would probably fit you with a more comfortable mouthguard to wear at night.
Reply:Have you tried a mouth guard....lots of people use them to protect their teeth at night due to grinding. My sister used to grind her teeth constantly while sleeping, we used this method and it helped her out alot!! Try it out, it might help ya!
Reply:I'd see a dentist about getting a nightguard, they are usually for people who grind their teeth the more traditional way (side to side on all the teeth) but it may help you too, you would need to ask the dentist.

Until you have time to get to a dentist, you could just wear a regular mouth guard to bed. You can get one at any sporting goods store, follow the directions on it to form it to your mouth. and since you only need protection near the front of your mouth you can always cut the back part off of each side and leave only enough to cover the front half of your teeth.
Reply:this happens to me alot

I happened last night

use a teeth guard like in boxing this will relieve most if not all the strees

if you don't have one try thoes foam thing you bite on a the dentist tha mold to your teeth although

I think the mouth guard would be much easier to find

it works for me... but you have to remember to put it in
Reply:well im not quick sure what you mean but you could try going to your doctor about it and maybe he or she could give you a retainer or something to put in your mouth at night so you wont hurt your teeth
Reply:Alright man I have the same thing and also have one of my front teeth chipped so it really hurts so i feel you. When I did this I was usually in a stressful state and I somewhat knew what was going on in my dreams but I could not wake up, what I do now is in my dream I put my hand in my mouth. And I actually put my fingers in my mouth while I'm sleeping while this happens. So I wake up because I am biting the crap out of my fingers in real life. I don't think some people have the ability to do this but I kinda trained myself. Good luck, some people get small mouth pieces made for this.
Reply:go to the dentist tell him your problem that happened to my friend Bye
Reply:Generally the treatment for sleeping grinding is the same as for sleeping clenching. Get a night guard. At a continuing education course recently, we were told that if a person's normal force of chewing during the day (which would be monitored by your awake brain) is 25 Newtons, then at night while you are asleep the force exerted on your teeth by clenching and grinding might be as high as 250 Newtons. That is a huge difference.

Get a night guard. It will help your jaw to relax and if anything gets worn down it will be the plastic of the night guard and not your teeth.
Reply:that is grinding. Go buy a night mouth guard. Call your dentist or go to any local pharmacy and buy a mouth guard. They are located in the oral health section of the store.
Reply:Hey Julian, you need to get a retainer. Plastic retainers are the best as they fit over all of your teeth. This will minimise any damage that is getting done to your teeth while you sleep. The retainers may also make it harder to press your front teeth together. The retainers dont usually cost much especially if you have private health cover. Good Luck. If all else fails buy sports retainers, they are huge and will make it extremely difficult for you to even move your jaw at night.

A Dentist repaired my upper plate and a few days later one of the teeth broke out.?

The dentist won't fix it or help me pay for another. I am considering filing a suit against that man. What do you think?

A Dentist repaired my upper plate and a few days later one of the teeth broke out.?
Unless you are chewing on rocks, there's no reason that a brand-new repair falling apart like that should be acceptable to the dentist. He should be ashamed of shoddy worksmanship.

You should go to his office in the morning and speak to the receptionist. Have the plate in and hope that it's a full waiting room. Speak a little louder than you normally would and gesture to the broken tooth...let his waiting patients see for themselves that the dentist won't back up his work. Hopefully the shame factor will kick in and he'll fix it.

If not...

Next, I'd file a complaint with the state Board. I would then look for another dentist nearby who can fix it so you don't walk around looking like that. Good luck.
Reply:You can't really say the dentist is at fault. We don't know the nature of the repair that he did. Maybe the denture was broken quite badly.

The biggest thing here is that you are reasonable. If you feel you have a legitimate concern as to why this tooth broke away from the denture after the dentist repaired it, then speak to him about it. If you are trying to get something for nothing, well, then maybe you are the problem.
Reply:I think that it quite typical of the "new america" out there..... Heck!!!!!!!!!!!! Mildly put... as I dont know the rules here that well but get this!!!!!!! I had laser surgery done 2 years Sept and now after 35 years in Govt service I may have to retire.... because I can't see very well anymore and Ithink I just received my 4 or 5 opinion .... What do you think

My daughter is just one yr old and nearly has a full set of teeth ive noticed that her teeth are breaking?

i mean first one of her side tooth brole in half now her front tooth has broke im very concerned abt what is happening, she is mainly breastfed

My daughter is just one yr old and nearly has a full set of teeth ive noticed that her teeth are breaking?
probably not getting a good diet .she should be eating normal family food by now. see your dentist and speak to your health visitor.
Reply:Does she have any juice out of a bottle as this will rot her teath. Also at 1 years old I would stop breast feeding and start giving her veg and fruit to eat and healthy balanced diet. Go to dentist and he will advise what to do and what is causing the problem, there is something rotting her teeth and you have to take this seriously as she has those baby teeth till she is around 7 years old and children are very cruel when they start school, so do something now!
Reply:She needs to eat a proper diet and should have been taken off breast milk a while ago. Maybe not completely, but it should NOT be her main source of food. She is not getting enough nutrition. She needs to chew stuff to strengthen her teeth and gums. If her teeth are breaking there could be other medical problems to follow. Please take her to the doctor to have her checked out followed by a dentist visit so your daughter isn't in pain from the broken teeth. I wish you luck.
Reply:Sounds like insufficient calcium in her diet, and possibly poor dental hygiene. She should be on a full mixed diet at a year old.

I suggest you seek the advice both of your dentist and your GP as a matter of urgency.
Reply:This sounds very negative and I apologise but I had a full set of teeth at a very young age and the same thing happened to me! I have always had really bad teeth (in terms of condition) they need a lot of looking after by me and the dentist - it is almost as if they are older than they should be? You definitely need to take her to the dentist to keep on top of it!
