When babies teethe, do their top two teeth give them a bit more trouble coming in?

I know molars and incisors can cause them a bit of pain, but I wasn't sure if the top two, cos they're a bit bigger than some other teeth, gave them trouble too? My 10mth old already has her bottom two teeth which came in with minimum fuss, and as soon as the tooth broke thru the gum she was fine. Her top two teeth came thru about 2 weeks ago and she STILL is acting grizzly and I'm certain she doesn't have any others on the way, so I figure it must still be the top two...

It's possible there are more teeth on the way....she has two more incisors on the bottom and two more on the top to come in, and they usually erupt around this age.

Question about Kitten teeth???

I just bought my hubby new sneakers and we gave the kitten the box to play in. He loved it until he bit down into it and his front tooth broke off! It is the lower right fang (the long sharp one.)

He is about 5 months old now... Is this normal? Do Kittens lose their teeth? It is just a cardboard box!

***And before you tell me to get off Yahoo and go to the vet... Remember, it is Sunday!

Jenny... are you out there? You were so helpful last time! Know anything about kitten teeth?

Question about Kitten teeth???
Oh.. those sharp little teeth are bad... You did not really tell me if the tooth broke off.. does that mean it broke half way off or broke off completely and is gone. At any rate, it was undnoubtedly a baby tooth and not to worry.. They have a number of baby teeth that they lose within 6 months and new ones come in.. Not to worry and do not waste money on a vet
Reply:Cats do have deciduous teeth, which they lose as permanent teeth replace them. Usually the first teeth to be replaced are the central incisors (the middle teeth in the very front of the mouth) at about 3.5 to 4 months of age, followed by the premolars and molars along the sides of the mouth and the four big canine teeth at 5 to 6 months of age.
Reply:Yes, kittens lose their baby teeth. Just keep an eye on your kitten to make sure that he loses the remainder of the tooth and that he doesn't cut himself on the sharp edge. I don't see any need to take him to the vet unless you see that other teeth are breaking rather than falling out. A good source of calcium for growing kittens is cottage cheese. They love it and it won't give them diarrhea like other dairy products. Good luck with your little guy.
Reply:Yes, kittens lose some teeth. The one you're talking about will be replaced by a permanent tooth later on.

He should be fine, just watch him to make sure there isn't any pain. Exposed nerve endings could make eating painful, so make sure he's eating well until the rest of the tooth comes out.

From what I've read, it's common for kittens to swallow their baby teeth since most owners never even notice that they've fallen out. So don't be surprised if that one's just gone one day.
Reply:Yes that's normal, kitten's have baby teeth too.
Reply:Does it look like it is a baby tooth still, or is it a larger tooth, like a permant one? Kittens lose their teeth around 5 or 6 months of age, but usually the new tooth is already visible. Call the vet tomorrow and ask about it, but for now, kitty will be fine, though a bit of pain is possible, if the nerve is exposed. If it is a permant tooth already, then it'll require treatment of some sort, and that might get expensive.

Another possibility, it could have been the whole baby tooth, and what you are seeing now is the emerging adult tooth.
Reply:cats, like humans, have "baby" teeth that they lose and then are replaced by permanent teeth.
Reply:yeah they fall out and they hurt like hell if you ever step on one bare footed.

Crazy teeth dream......help!?

i alwayz have this dream about my teeth breaking in little peices and falling out my mouth and me catching them. Its so nasty; I wake up so scared and i check if i still have them. What in the hell does it mean? And yes my teeth are straight and normal.

Crazy teeth dream......help!?
The only thing that I have ever heard regarding losing teeth/part sof teeth in a dream is that it suggests that you have a fear of losing something.
Reply:do you have a dental appointment coming up? I think subconsiously you are affraid of loosing your teeth.
Reply:I have heard many negative interpretations to "teeth" dreams. Falling out, cracking and breaking off, losing one... From what I had read in the past it means that you are currently or will soon be facing major hardships in your life. Serious illness, loss of a loved one, serious financial trouble.

Don't take these to heart though. You may just have a tooth thats bothering you.
Reply:crumbling teeth in your dreams mean you feel as if you are out of control or signifies you are experiencing overwhelming stress
Reply:There is a superstition about dreaming teeth: if they fall out and that hurts you in your dream, that means that someone really close to you will die soon. but when you dream it very often, and especially when you're trying to catch them, that ONLY means that you're too much worried for your loving ones and you're scared what will happen if they die...

AND IT'S ONLY A SUPERSTITION, SO DON'T BE SCARED ABOUT YOUR DREAM!!!

try to think about nice things and things that make you happy and you'll never dream such things again. your will-power can always help you :)

I feel like breaking my teeth?

I dont know why but i have his feeling in my lower front teeth and it feels like i need to push them or something, like put something in between them. its not pain and i cant concentrate with this

I feel like breaking my teeth?
You may have a bit of food or something stuck between them which would feel like they are being pused apart or pushed forwards.

Try flossing, but don't go overboard.

If it persists, see your dentist.

I have a broken front tooth. Is there a temporary over the counter solution?
Check these out (from a Yahoo! search), maybe you can get expedited shipping. Also wouldn't hurt to call a local pharmacy:

Reply:This happened to my classmate in elementary school. While I don't know about any over the counter temporary solutions, I do know that they let the chipped part soak in milk so that it's preserved or something. I thought it was weird, but that's what the principle said they did until they put it back on.
Reply:YOU CANT MAKE NOTHING,AFTER YOU GO TO THE DENTIST.

What happens to the root from an extracted baby tooth that is broken off and is still enbedded in the gums?

My daughter has her baby tooth pulled, and we saw the long roots.Which one of the roots was broken, and we assume it is still embedded in her gums. The teeth pulled were the left decidous first molar and the the left decidous cuspid.Should we worry?Thank you to all the dentists out there.

What happens to the root from an extracted baby tooth that is broken off and is still enbedded in the gums?
Generally there is no real concern if a baby tooth root is left in the gum.

Let's divide the answer into two:

(1) If the extracted tooth were infected, the shorter root may not be broken, but in fact be resorbing, or being eaten away, by the infection. If that is the case, better the tooth is out.

(2) If the extracted tooth were not infected, as the subsequent adult tooth erupts, it will eat up the root on the way out, or force it into an area where it can be removed easily.

Good luck, and congratulate your daughter because she must have been very brave to have that procedure done!
Reply:Some times a root will come out by itself, but it should at least be monitored with exrays. Probably will have to be extracted.
Reply:Not a dentist, but if it were my child, I would keep an eye on where the tooth was pulled to make sure it isn't infected. Any sign of infection and see the dentist immediately.
Reply:It will prob come out, dentist should re-check.
Reply:my son had the same thing happen. They pulled out his tooth and left some of the root in his gums. I brought him to a different dentist than the one who pulled it out and he said it would be fine, to check it periodically and see if it gets infected. The only problem he said it could cause is the other 2 teeth growing closer together cause theres no tooth there to seperate them but the chances of that arent that good. The only thing he was concerned about is that an infection occurs. Its been 2 months and the tooth is fine.
