After a babies teeth break through how Long is it before they come all the way in?

my daughter is 10 months old and three teeth just broke through, do I brush them or just wipe them off with a damp cloth?

After a babies teeth break through how Long is it before they come all the way in?
It depends on the baby, and the tooth!! My 8 month old has 4 teeth. The first three came through in a matter of days. For each one separately, he cried for about 20 minutes (I mean screamed!!), then all of a sudden, boom, there was a tooth there. Within 2 or 3 days of that, he had a full blown white tooth!

His fourth tooth was the exact opposite. It popped through and I didn%26#039;t even know it. That was two weeks ago and its still hanging out up there and hasn%26#039;t come all the way down. Therefore, he%26#039;s cranky on and off, drooling all the time and chewing on EVERYTHING. I just want it to come out and be done with this behavior. Until the 5th one comes...

I just wipe his teeth off with a damp cloth before he goes to bed. I tried the baby toothbrush, but he just wanted to chew on that too!
Reply:All babies are different. My first daughter didn%26#039;t even have a full mouth of teeth until she was over 18m old (3yo now). My second daughter is 15m now and she only has a couple in the front, maybe 7 or 8, but nothing even poking in the back.

For brushing, I bought one of those gum cleaners. It%26#039;s a blue rubber thing that fits over your finger and has teeny tiny little rubber %26quot;bristles%26quot; at the tip. They make Safe to Swallow toothpaste (my 15mo likes the Baby Einstein one) that you can buy and use. Occasionally babies will just enjoy chewing on those, but I found it helped massage the gums and she only gnawed lightly as I was doing it. I think it helped her gums feel better when she was teething because she%26#039;d stop crying and fussing for a little bit. :) If she gives you a lot of trouble with it, I%26#039;m sure a clean damp cloth would be just fine.

Also, I just had my 3yo to the dentist and he said that really at their ages, what I%26#039;m doing is just fine and their teeth look great. They generally don%26#039;t start to develop cavities as long as their is SOME sort of maintenance at bedtime to get the %26quot;gunk%26quot; off from the day.

Good luck!

Does anyone know of a dentist that will pull teeth even if he thinks they can be saved?

I am having major dental problems. I have had three crowns come off (that I paid cash for), I have several broken teeth, and a couple where the fillings have come out. I want to find a dentist/oral surgeon that will pull all of my teeth so I can get dentures. I do not want to put more money into my mouth to try and so call save these teeth.

Does anyone know of a dentist that will pull teeth even if he thinks they can be saved?
ask around.

most dentists will follow your wishes if your teeth are genuinely in very poor condition.
Reply:There are several dentist that will do it just because is what you want, but not necessarily because that is the best treatment for you.

Dentures are not easy, is not going to be the same as your natural teeth, eventually you will have bone loss in the lower jaw, in which your denture won%26#039;t be able to hold on.

The money you spend in your teeth is going to be worth it if you take care of it, if you don;t brush regularly or floss, obviously everything is going to be lost.

So just take some time to discuss it with your dentist, extracting teeth is not recommended at all, believe me I have worked in this field.

Implants are another option. though pricey.
Reply:Sure, I know some. They are in my town, but how does that help you?

Can wisdom teeth removal break the jaw??

Can the extraction of wisdom teeth break the actual jaw bone?

Can wisdom teeth removal break the jaw??
It%26#039;s not suppose to
Reply:Nope had my pulled 3 mts ago they are tuff to get out though. And you will here them cracking but break your jaw no.
Reply:Possible. Can also hit the sinus cavity if upper. Could be bad.

Get a good dentist and you should be fine. Complications are fairly rare.
Reply:nope n no loss of wisdom too!
Reply:i know what you want me to say but sorry yes it can and dont worry you wont feel it till you stop taking to much meds
Reply:no way thats gonna happen..
Reply:Yes, it can, but it doesn%26#039;t happen very often.
Reply:My mom is a surgical assistant and helps pull wisdom teeth. If the doctor knows what he%26#039;s doing and you are healthy then the jaw shouldn%26#039;t break. It is a 15 minute procedure (@ least with my mom%26#039;s boss) and isn%26#039;t that painful. I had mine done and I actually don%26#039;t remember a lot of it because of the drugs and also because I slept for most of it. If you want any extra details you want to know you can email me @ wonderful_2015@yahoo.com.
Reply:A fractured jaw bone and loss of sensation through nerve damage are two of the biggest %26quot;possible%26quot; problems with having wisdom teeth removed. HOWEVER, these rarely ever happen, and it is better to take the chance to get the wisdom teeth out (in my opinion) than to suffer from the pressure they put on your jaw bones and other teeth---they can actually %26quot;bust%26quot; other teeth!---, headaches, cavities, etc.
Reply:It%26#039;s unlikely unless you have a bad dentist. Most, if not all, jaws are pretty thick. I%26#039;ve had one removed and there was no problem with cracking my jaw. Tooth removal will bleed and you have to bite on gauze until it stops. And eat soft foods until it heals. Those are more likely problems.
Reply:Some wisdom teeth are impacted and they have to break the jaw to remove the teeth.
Reply:I actually had a very bad experience. I did not have my jaw broke however when my last wisdom tooth came in it was infected. The oral surgion put me on antibiotics before he could pull it. This however didn%26#039;t work and he pulled it anyway. The infection then moved to my throat. I was 18 weeks pregnant, couldn%26#039;t open my mouth due to lock jaw from the infection. Ended up having 3 different surgeries on my throat. I am now left with a huge disgusting scar on my neck. Although i was told by the two docs that cared for me at this time that keeping your wisdom teeth is like playing russian roullette with your life. So if you have a dentist that says you have room for your wisdom teeth and there is no reason to pull them I would strongly suggest you get a second oppinion. However reather or not it could break your jaw, I have heard that like the others said, if you have a good dentist you should not have any problems getting them pulled. I would do some research on dentists though. Had I done that i wouldn%26#039;t have had the problems I did.
Reply:good quetion i dont know
Reply:See a dentist!

Reply:Yes, it can. The chances of this are if you have an extemely difficult extraction. If this was to happen, it%26#039;d probably be cause by your doctors lack of care while putting pressure on the jaw (when I got mine removed, I remember the doctor warned me that there was going to be extreme pressure on my top left tooth). He pushed down very hard. One complication is also TMJ. This is (from what I remember) when the jaw is not aligned properly.

Can a dentist pull a wisdom tooth that's broken?

I have a wisdom tooth that has broken or chipped because of a cavity. I am scheduled to have them pulled next week but I am wondering will they be able to pull them without having to cut the gum because the tooth broke on one side? I guess I just wondered if they dentist will be able to grip the tooth without having to cut the gum down. I%26#039;m getting general/local anesthestics (sp) so I%26#039;m getting a little nervous about the possibility of them not being able to get the tooth out. LoL

Thanks!

Can a dentist pull a wisdom tooth that%26#039;s broken?
yes they can, but they might have to cut into te gums to get to the root.

ouch.
Reply:Yes. I had a similar issue with a wisdom tooth. The dentist did a wonderful job with little discomfort.

To relieve your nerves, call the dentist office and ask a few questions.

Good luck.
Reply:he will probably x ray to se it much better. I only had one wisdom tooth and it was wrapped around my jaw bone and pushed forward. They had to cut it out and crack it in half and do some drilling on my jaw bone some. It sounds awfull and it was painfull when the numbness wore off. but while under a procedure you only feel pressure like them pushing on you or whatever. No real pain. But when its over he should give you a good prescription of painkillers because it can be intense. But dont worry because leaving it in will only make it worse, get it over with.
Reply:Yes the dentist can pull your wisdom with out cutting into the gum( unless your tooth breaks and becomes surgical) they use something called a elevator( looks almost like an ice pick but not so sharp at the edge) that helps elevate the tooth up so that the dentist can get a better grip

Anyone had teeth sorted abroad?

I have several broken teeth and 6 missing. I can only chew on one side and that%26#039;s iffy. I am considering going abroad to cut the cost. Has anyone any information?

Anyone had teeth sorted abroad?
I know someone who had their teeth done in Poland. The cost was a quarter of the UK price and he had a marvellous job done. It appears that Warsaw dentists have worked out the UK is a good market and have upgraded all their equipment in anticipation.
Reply:No. No, no, no. I%26#039;m sorry, but have you ever seen their teeth over there? BAD. Stay in the states. They%26#039;re your teeth----they are worth the money. What I can suggest is to go to a dental school. You can get work done there VERY inexpensive and the work is fantastic. I mean, they make it perfect.

Look for one near you here:

Reply:I have my teeth done in South-Africa it costs me next to nothing and they do a good job of it. :)))
Reply:I came to UK in 1970 from India. I did have some filling back in India, very cheap comparatively, when I saw some dentist in UK in early days, my dental work always impressed the dentist who treated me in UK at the time. However I think some advance treatment may not be available in India/ Pakistan.

My back teeth molor just broke?

I bit into a thick cracker and then the back teeth broke off, just split off, not the whole tooth, just half. No pain, Would I have to cap it and if so what kind of should I replace with? Any suggestions? Thanx

My back teeth molor just broke?
If your tooth was so weak that it broke from eating a cracker, chances are you have decay. You may need a root canal. Trust me, its not as horrible as people say, I just had one 2 days ago and felt no pain at all. They will probably have to put a crown on your tooth. The material used will probably depend on what your insurance will cover. Since its a back tooth, it wouldnt really matter if they used metal, since no one will really see the tooth. You need to see a dentist ASAP. I had my very back tooth break and it didnt hurt at all. I put it off, and one day it got infected and the pain was unbearable. I woke up in the middle of the night bawling and continued to sob uncontrollably until the dentist finally removed it (it was TOO broken to save). That was the worst pain of my life. Even worse than 40 hours of childbirth. Get in as soon as you can.
Reply:Gonna need a cap. Could be metal or porcelain. Don%26#039;t wait cuz it doesn%26#039;t hurt though, it%26#039;ll get infected.
Reply:You need a crown for that.Either a metal or porcelain. If its the back teeth and you%26#039;re really not that concerned with the color or would not be conscious while opening the mouth, then a metal crown would do,plus it%26#039;ll be more stronger. Also, less tooth structure would be reduced from the original tooth that you have. If its the 1st molar, and worry that some may see it,then go for the porcelain crown. But if its really far back, then I%26#039;d rather advice you to have the metal crown.Have your dentist checked it right away,so as not to complicate the condition of the tooth anymore.
Reply:It is a myth that gold or metal are stronger than the porcelin. The porcelin they make these days is just as strong and will last. Try to get this taken care of as soon as possible to keep from getting an infection in the root. Now that the tooth is broke it is succesible to infection and then you will wind up in major pain and have to have a root canal which isn%26#039;t bad, but the cost is expensive. Also if you wait too long you can lose the other half and then you will have nothing for them to attach the crown too. I lost a tooth during pregnancy and everytime I would try to get to the dentist I would go into labor in the chair-hehe. They wouldn%26#039;t touch me so now all I have left back there is the roots so nothing to put the crown on.

One of my front teeth broke in half last night. What can the dentist do?

One of my front teeth broke in to last night. The top part is still in my gum. I have no pain... so obviously I haven%26#039;t exposed a nerve. I have severe cavities in both of my front teeth, and am in the process of having all my cavities drilled and filled. It broke off right where the cavity was. What can the dentist do? Build a new one? I look terrible and I am lisping really bad. I sound like a snake... and I look like a redneck. Help!!!

One of my front teeth broke in half last night. What can the dentist do?
Well my dad%26#039;s a dentist and he%26#039;s handled that kind of problem already. He makes a new one. I%26#039;ve seen him do it before. It%26#039;s like getting your cavities filled in but making it just like the shape of the teeth. You don%26#039;t need to get your tooth pulled anyway.. hope this helps..
Reply:they can bond your teeth ....it will look almost new.....or you can get a dental implant....but that%26#039;s way more expensive and painful....the bonding can be done right away
Reply:They can fill the bottom of it. It%26#039;s like putting a cap on the end of what remains of your tooth. You won%26#039;t be able to tell that it%26#039;s been done - it looks really realistic.
Reply:Dentists work wonders with glue these days. My son broke his front teeth when he smashed his face into a curb while trying to master the skateboard. They used some kind of glue to put him back together, and twenty years later, he still has the same teeth, glue and all. Also, you can get those lamineers they are advertising on TV. They make your smile quite beautiful
Reply:Your dentist will probably repair it by putting in a porcelain crown. They usually file the remaining piece of tooth down to a pointy V shape and then adhere the porcelain crown onto the stump. It%26#039;s expensive.
Reply:Yes, they may be able to rebuild it. I broke half of my tooth off when I was 12...they rebuilt it and it lasted until I was 29 then it fell out and I had to replace it. It was painless, but a little bit expensive.
Reply:The dentist can put in a crown, which will require him to drill out the tooth and install a post. He can put in a temporary build up while the crown is being made so you don%26#039;t have the gap.
Reply:go to the dentist the only thing. and you probably going to have some root canal and veneers or jacket done then you can get your good smile back.
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry my friend EJ had the same thing happen to him because a shed came out of nowhere while he was running ad he ran into it any way the dentist just simply glued it back on and it looks like it never happened
Reply:what he%26#039;ll probably do is a root canal and then place a crown over it, your lucky you didn%26#039;t expose a nerve that would hurt, call your dentist to see if he can fit you in right away ... you can%26#039;t leave it like that ... the lisp will go away when your mouth/tongue adjust to the space.
Reply:actually its not a problem at all ....tooth has a pulp if you have exposed pulp the dentist may do a root canal treatment and place a cap on your teeth ...either in acrylic or ceramic ..otherwise the dentist can restore your teeth using a material called composite.
Reply:If you have the tooth keep it and take it with you, it is possible that they can put it back. I have seen results of this. they may make you a new one. It is fixable but may take little time.
Reply:Depending on the health of your teeth, he can make you a temporary tooth or you can have it built up with composite as a temporary step. If the tooth is sound........you will probably have to have a crown lengthening procedure and then a crown. Hopefully, you won%26#039;t need a root canal. It sounds like you are seceptible to decay. That%26#039;s a strange place to get cavities..............do you drink a lot of soft drinks? Might not be a bad idea to get a blood work up.
Reply:Well, you can do a number of things. In my opinion the best thing to do is get a Porcelain Veneer. They are very fragile but they look really pretty! Or you can also get a dental partial(this is cheaper).

2nd dream- about teeth breaking and an old ring???

This was more recent, but in this dream my teeth feel like they%26#039;re stuck together. I%26#039;m at a pon shop trying to sell an old tarnished ring, from my mother%26#039;s jewelry box. There is question over the rings value as they have trouble determining the value of the ring at the pon shop, I am having trouble speaking because my teeth are all stuck and they are starting to break and fall out!

2nd dream- about teeth breaking and an old ring???
One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in conveying that image. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy.

Another rationalization for these falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.

In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.

OTHER CULTURAL PERCEPTIONS

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money.
Reply:Anytime you dream about your teeth, it symbolizes money. If your teeth are breaking and falling out, you are worried about losing money.
Reply:Your relationships with people are deteriorating. You are negotiating the value of your friendships, relations which are all somehow connected. Get rid of those who are hindering your growth and happiness in life. You seem to want to but are unable to as you are too caught up, entangled in trivialities and ultimately as the ring%26#039;s value proves it, in the dream, it%26#039;s not worth it.
Reply:you dwell on things to much.. is a waste of energy
Reply:i heard that if you dream about teeth, that%26#039;s a bad sign of something like one of your relative might be sick or business failure.

im not sure about old ring...

btw, dreams are sometimes sign of something. this is according to my experience but not all dreams has meaning and we should not take all dreams seriously. i had dream about losing teeth before. i didnt know it has bad sign but that day, i fought with my husband and we almost decided to separate. its how you deal with the problem thats the most important one..

How long does it generally take for gums that have had teeth removed to heal with stitches?

And what are some other things I can know to help make this healing best I can,I got 5 teeth pulled on monday it is now thurs day night, and my top right side, where I had 3 teeth pulled still hurt off and on,when they do,it feels very similar to the tooth pain I had before they were pulled out,I had a fang tooth above the main teeth, where the tooth below it did not come out, that one was removed, and a broken tooth on the left side,I have been using salt water, and I constantly spit after I do it

How long does it generally take for gums that have had teeth removed to heal with stitches?
in a healthy individual(meaning no conditions that cause delayed healing like diabetes or infections or deficiencies)the wound will close in 7-10days by which time you can remove your stitches.the socket of the extracted teeth will take at least 4 weeks time to fill.your gums will get a smooth rounded feel only after 6 -8 weeks.but none of this will be a painful period.pain should ideally subside once your wound closes.if wound remains open consult your doctor as he will be able to see if there is any cause for concern

Broken tooth, please read?

I%26#039;m 12 years old and here%26#039;s the story.

When I was 5 the orthodontist started expanding my upper jaw, then stopped when I was about 6. I got a bottom expander a LONG time ago (3rd grade, I beleive) that I don%26#039;t even notice anymore. I got top and bottom braces in the beginning of 4th grade, had them for about 6 months. Maybe thats when I got the expander. But then again, maybe it%26#039;s a retainer. It%26#039;s just a wire that loops around the back of me lower teeth, then connects in the back. You can%26#039;t see it when i smile or anything. Well, yesterday, I was eating those little pretzel bite things from Pretzel On A Stick. I felt something hard and I thought it was the loose tooth that I had on my right side. However, I felt and it was still there, so i assumed it was a peice of salt. When my friend and I got to the gym. I was using my tounge to feel around my mouth for some reason. I felt a somewhat jagged adge and looked in the mirror. My tooth had a HUGE chip out of it, and a crack down

Broken tooth, please read?
lol you wont need any surgery. i had almost every one of those things in my mouth you just said..i bet your tooth was just a bad tooth and it was time for it to come out....if its a baby tooth then you%26#039;ll just get a new one. but if it was a permanent you wouldnt need to keep the old tooth they would just fill in the other part of your tooth that you lost with the same stuff they fill a cavity with....so either way you need to get to the dentist...but if your tooth is cutting your tongue, go to the store and buy some wax they make it special that you go near the toothbrush aisle and you%26#039;ll see it, it works great on that kind of stuff...if you need any more help or any more questions just email me at blondlladybug@yahoo.com
Reply:THE SMALL, WHITE STUB IS YOUR 12-MOLAR COMING IN. THE TOOTH WHICH CHIPPED WAS YOUR BABY SECOND MOLAR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LOST ANYWAY.
Reply:i have 2 chipped teeth. all i had done was 2 root canals (1 for each tooth) after that i felt normal again
Reply:dont worry a baby tooth probably fell out and a new one is coming in

Broken tooth?

just realised I have lost the side from one of my teeth, I think I must have swallowed it (yucky!) the tooth has a filling in it, I can not get a dental appointment till the 21st. anyone any ideas on if they can rebuild the side of teeth or am I likely to get stung for a crown?

Broken tooth?
I have a back tooth that constantly keeps breaking in the same place and because it%26#039;s only half of one side of the tooth my dentist just builds it up with a little cement. It lasts roughly about twelve months and this will be the third time it%26#039;s happened. I think anything after that will unfortunately be an extraction or crown. Hope this helps.
Reply:crown probobly
Reply:A crown. If it is a small chip then maybe you can get it bonded. Bonding is less expensive. Good luck.
Reply:It depends on the tooth and how much of it is missing. Your dentist will advise on the best fix for it. In the mean time, if you%26#039;re having any pain from it, get yourself some %26quot;DenTemp.%26quot; It is a temporary filling material that you can buy at any drug store.
Reply:Depending on how bad it is, they can fix it and you won%26#039;t need a crown. They will probably try give you one though and you may need to weigh up your choices. I have a tooth which is basically a large filling with enamel around the edges but the surrounding enamel does not even meet on one side. My filling has broken in half (still sitting in the hole) and now I%26#039;m thinking, perhaps I should%26#039;ve got this crowned instead of patched and patched.

Ask your dentist when you see them what your options are. Then ask them if it%26#039;s possible to do what you think are your options. Ask your dentist for pros and cons of the options and also the costs. You can make a further appointment if you need to go away and think about it before deciding on which way you will go.
Reply:you can go to your local chemist and ask for a temporary filing you have to mix the solution together takes minutes it might do until you get to dentist
Reply:i think your looking at a crown
Reply:don%26#039;t think u can rebuild, they gonna pull out the rest of that teeth. it will be bloody
Reply:yup.. likely a crown.
Reply:It really depends how much of your natural tooth is left. They may just be able to build the tooth up with a filling. If there is more filling than tooth then it is likely you will need a crown.

You can get something from the chemist in the UK called dentaid you mix 2 things together, it costs around £11 and you could use this between now and when you go to the dentist.

Hope this is helpful

Reply:If youve lost the full side of your tooth then there probably gona take it out. I lost a quarter of my tooth n when i went to the dentist he pulled the tooth out. If your in any pain as u normaly do when your tooth is broken then try clove oil, its realy cheap, u just dab a bit onto your tooth and it numbs it straight away.
Reply:They will do a root canal.
Reply:really depends on how large the filling is and whether the tooth can hold another filling, possibly looking at a crown.
Reply:It would be hard for me to say most crowns can be repaired as long as decay hasn%26#039;t set it and infected the roots however contact NHS direct and they can but you in contact with the dental hospital and to num the paid try oil of clove

Broken Tooth?

I was at my dentist and they were cleaning my teeth. After they were done cleaning, i bit down and a portion of my tooth came off and now there%26#039;s a rather large hole in my tooth. What will they do for it? It doesn%26#039;t hurt or anything, but I%26#039;d like to know what can be done.

Broken Tooth?
If you go back to the dentist they can probably save part of the tooth. My mom just went in last friday and did it. She did lose one of them because she waited so long so you should be as soon as you can.
Reply:well to give you advice they are going have to fix it i think because i had a hole in the back of my teeth before and they numb you and fix it and they are going to put a cap over it. They might have you sign in an appointment per month to fix ur teeth if they numb you and it hurts they would have to numb you again

I sometimes dream about my teeth falling out. What does that mean?

The dream occurs perhaps every two weeks or so. It never seems to be the same, reoccuring dream though. In one I was at school, in another I was at a nursing home with my grandma. All of the time though, it will start with one tooth falling out, and I will manage to put it back in. Then a different tooth will fall out, and soon the rest will follow, and I have a hand full of broken teeth. What do these dreams mean?

I sometimes dream about my teeth falling out. What does that mean?
can you give me more details?

By the things you described it%26#039;s a little hard to be precise, but I can try... you can send me an email saying if I%26#039;m right : hotmaildeal@hotmail.com

About your dream I can say that it seems like you have fears that you need to defeat. You%26#039;re probably a little shy, and speaking in public or saying the truth when you have to speak your mind are hard things for you. Whenever you have courage enough to say something, another fear comes out and you get stuck again. You can%26#039;t move on too easily, you always need big strenght to move on, and usually need comfort coming from someone else, which doesn%26#039;t help too much (it helps a lot, but it%26#039;s not enough, though).

Broken tooth?

i have good teeth with only 3 white fillings but tonight i bit on a toffee and 1/4 of my lower molar came out when i looked in the mirror there is a black gap where the part of the tooth should be the rest of the tooth seems fine not loose will i have to get it taken out as terrified or could they fill again and fix thank for your help sharon

Broken tooth?
In dentistry, you have to look at the problem (through xrays or straight in the mouth), to determine the best treatment option.

It would be wrong to provide you with misleading advice, but you should see your local dentist to treat your concerns.

Good luck
Reply:you may need to get a root canal.
Reply:Most likely a filling possibly a crown?? Doc W

Broken Tooth?

yes i broked one of my teeth in half in the front, and my dentist cant see me for at least 5 days and i think the root is exposed because whenever i breathe it hurts, my dentist didnt give me any tips and i dont want the tooth to die so can anyone give me any tips to stop the tooth from dying?

Broken Tooth?
Time machine.
Reply:call around to different dentists in your area. tell them it%26#039;s an emergency and they will probably make room in their day for you.
Reply:pul it out :) you geek:)
Reply:Try going to a different dentist or your local pharmacist.
Reply:If you broke it in half, and the root is exposed, it%26#039;s probably going to need a root canal, which pretty much kills the tooth, doesn%26#039;t it. Then it%26#039;ll need to be capped or crowned. You%26#039;ll just need to sip your food threw straws and be careful, I think. At least when it happened to me, that%26#039;s how it was. I didn%26#039;t see the dentist for about a week, and then, he just cemented the thing up. It stayed that way for a few years, until my mom finally got it crowned.
Reply:My advise is to start drinking heavily!
Reply:At some drugstores they sell this temporary filling material called Dentatemp. I%26#039;ve never used it personally and I don%26#039;t know what it would look like on a front tooth, but it may help with the pain by keeping the nerve from being exposed to air until you can get to the dentist.

Baby tooth broken?

When my son was 1 and learning to walk he fell and broke one of his front bottom teeth he is now 7 years old and the adult tooth has grown in but the very tip of it is a gold yellow where the rest if is a perfect color white. Does anyone know why this is? ( and yes I will bring him to a dentist he has an appt coming up I just figured I would ask since I am on here)

Baby tooth broken?
The %26quot;yellowed%26quot; portion of his tooth is hypocalcified, probably due to trauma from the accident. It can be cosmetically veneered when he is older and the tooth is fully erupted.
Reply:..IT WAS DUE TO THE TRAUMA CAUSED BY THE BABY TOOTH ON THE TOOTH BUD OF THE ADULT TOOTH

Will brushing my teeth break my fast?

Will brushing my teeth break my fast? and i have been bushing m teeth when fasting but not sure if brushing your teeth would break your fast.

Will brushing my teeth break my fast?
No, as long as you don%26#039;t swallow intentionally :)

It%26#039;s mustahab to brush your teeth anyway, so i%26#039;m pretty certain it%26#039;s ok.
Reply:No its hygene, not eating
Reply:Not unless you go bottoms-up with the entire tube of toothpaste.

Oh, but then you%26#039;d die anyways. Or get very ill.

Its up to you.
Reply:No, breaking your fast involves eggs, bacon, donuts, coffee, pancakes, stuff like that.
Reply:Do you actively eat toothpaste? Probably not, being that you are still alive. When you breathe you take in particles and things related to food (and alot of things you shouldn%26#039;t eat either, but let%26#039;s not worry about that just now). A few particles that got in your stomach accidentally...I think God (Allah, YVHV, pick your flavor) can forgive.
Reply:No, please do, while fasting , ones breath stinks.
Reply:Fasting is a religious superstitious. It doesn%26#039;t matter what you do in concern to fasting. Fasting does nothing for the Christian follower, nor anyone else for that matter.
Reply:Go ahead and brush your teeth. Just don%26#039;t swallow the toothpaste.

Is anyone else obcessed with teeth?

I am obcessed with teeth. It%26#039;s the first thing I notice. I have had to stopped eating with some of our friends because I don%26#039;t like the way their teeth are cared for. Also, my husband doesn%26#039;t care for his teeth and I find myself constantly looking in his mouth. I have had to beg him to get his teeth cleaned. It hurts his feelings, but I cannot help myself. His eat are not really even bad. They are just not perfect! I find myself sickened by people with stained and broken teeth. Is anyone else like this?

Is anyone else obcessed with teeth?
I have to admit, I am a bit guilty of this myself. But I often try to separate myself from my job as often as I can. I make a conscious effort not to stare at peoples teeth when I am not at work. I could drive myself nuts walking around thinking of all the different things that I could do to fix up people%26#039;s smiles! The important thing is not to judge people by their teeth, Dr. Sam hit upon this, not every one has or has had access to good care. Trying to fix years of neglect often can get quite expensive and not everyone can afford to do it. Also, many people are self-conscious of their teeth, especially if they know that they have problems already. Try and take it easy on them and try to make them feel good about themselves!
Reply:no! i hate mine....i wish my parents took me more to the dentist, maybe my teeth would be perfect now......i cant afford to get them fixed!
Reply:I think I%26#039;m like that sometime....teeth are the first thing I notice...the reason I dated people in the past is the first thing I noticed was their teeth...if they couldn%26#039;t take care of their grilz then ewwww! I used to work for a dentist and have seen some pretty nasty stuff....I guess denistry wouldn%26#039;t be your kind of profession to go into! You would be grossed out all the time!

Reply:Well, sort of, but that%26#039;s my job....... I can%26#039;t help but notice. I try not to base my entire judgement of a person on this, though. We don%26#039;t all have the same opportunities.

Kitten teeth question?

my kitten is around 6 or 7 months.... i was brushing her teeth very gently and noticed blood on the toothbrush. A few minutes later i found what seemed to be a broken tooth on my couch with a little blood on it. She has also had some very bad breath. Could this have been a baby tooth? Or should I be worried about a mouth disease?

Kitten teeth question?
I would expect her to have all her adult teeth by now.

Has she been desexed yet? During the operation the vets always open the animal%26#039;s mouth, and if she had a retained baby tooth (usually the canine) they would have told you and delt with it then. If she hasn%26#039;t, then she might have had a retained baby tooth.

Does she have very hard things to chew? Occasionally teeth can fracture. Will she let you open her mouth and look to see if the teeth look the same on both sides? You can notice a misisng tooth that way.

EDIT: Since you could open her mouth (what a nice cat she must be), could you tell if the white tip you saw was jagged or smooth? Did it look like it was a snapped tooth or did it look like an intact one.

Also, the tooth that you found will be a darker colour, almost a black/brown tinge, compared to the new tooth if it was a baby tooth that was lost. The baby teeth change colour slightly before dropping out, because they lose most of their blood supply.
Reply:brushing her teeth? hehe why? give her some crunchy cat food instead of the soft stuff and that should give her healthy teeth and gums. you shouldnt have to brush your cats

edit: yes, of course...about the tooth. its rare that we pet owners see our pets loose a tooth, so when you see one you get worried, and that you brush your pet%26#039;s teeth would make it more likely for you to notice. the youthful cat may have had some health problems prior to your receiving the cat as it%26#039;s teeth and gums should normally be healthy at that age. could have had a poor diet, soft foods instead of crunchy, human food, or a combination of those and some other illnesses including trauma from the spay/neutering.

she may not %26#039;chew%26#039; her food. i had a puppy that did that. she would take little pieces and swallow them whole so, she didnt get the good cleansing action of the dry food against her teeth. the toothpaste if youre using could be an irritant also or even scraping the brush against her gums while attempting to brush. give all the information you know about your cat to a vet so that they can make a better assessment and plan of action. peace
Reply:it is probably her/his baby tooth. i have 3 cats and i have see this happen 2 different cats all the time. don%26#039;t b worried!!!
Reply:Right, the right thing to do is to just take her to the vet%26#039;s. My cat/kitten had the same problem, and we jus thought that it was a milk tooth coming through, but in fact she had a mouth disease from scrapping her tooth on something sharp. He (the vet) gave us some tablets t give her, and it was all cleared up within a week.

I%26#039;m not saying that your kitten HAS got a mouth diease, but you don%26#039;t really won%26#039;t t find out if she has too late. Likei said, just take her to the vet. It could jus be a milk tooth coming through, but you never know.

TIP: If the vet does give you tablets and your kitten reuses t take them, crush them up and put it in her food. That way she doesn%26#039;t know. (that%26#039;s what i had to do with mine.)

Hope this helped!

~Larxene
Reply:It may be a baby tooth coming out. Keep an eye on it, if it is a broken tooth the root will have to taken out other wise it will rot in the gum.
Reply:Kittens do lose their baby teeth, the same as humans do. And some cats are very prone to gingivitis which could be the cause of the bad breath. Some vets believe there is a genetic component to this. Gingivitis can often be treated with antibiotics, and that can resolve the redness and irritation like you may be seeing. It%26#039;s best to get her to the vet and have him/her take a look
Reply:Quite possibly a baby tooth. I had that a while ago with my kittens but I would go to the vet if I were you. The bad breath could be a sign of a gum infection. One of my kittens had this - its not anything really bad but its still worth a check.

Broken tooth or broken jaw???

A little background: my older brother has severe mental problems, he%26#039;s a sociopath and frequently abused me and my other family members. A few weeks ago he went on an all out rampage that started with him suddenly turning around and punching me directly in the left side of my jaw as we were walking across the street in Manhattan. Eversince then my teeth on the upper left side of my jaw have been hurting a lot and i tried going to the dentist but i had no time as i had to go back to college soon. the other day, out of the clear blue i got a severely painful sharp pain all throught the left side of my jaw, all the way back to my ear. it was so painful i fell to the ground and after about 30 seconds i got up and the whole left side of my face was completely numb. And ever since then my jaw/teeth have still been hurting. theres no visible damage, and the teeth arent sensitive to food, but are very sensitive to pressure (chewing) does anyone have any idea what is wrong?

Broken tooth or broken jaw???
It sounds like your jaw is injured. Try to go for an x ray.
Reply:You need an ex-ray. And stay away from your brother.
Reply:Go to a hospital and have your jaw checked.

Also have you brother committed hes getting to dangerous now

Help! I broke my teeth! I was eating a carrot at lunch and when I bit it my front teeth broke off.?

I haven%26#039;t been to a dentist in like 5 years(last time was when I was 9), but I always thought I took pretty good care of my teeth. I knew I had a few cavities but I didn%26#039;t think they were bad. Anyway where my teeth broke they%26#039;re black inside. What up with that? It didn%26#039;t bleed hardly at all, and I can see the other part inside the gum. Is there any quick cheap way to fix my teeth? Like some kind of glue maybe? I%26#039;m scared of dentists and my mom is gonna have a fit when she sees me. What can I do?

Help! I broke my teeth! I was eating a carrot at lunch and when I bit it my front teeth broke off.?
Put the piece of tooth that broke off in milk right away! When you go to your densist there is a chance he can glue it back on but please if you want that chance put it in milk!
Reply:Ouch!! that must of hurt. You need to see a dentist.
Reply:I%26#039;m so sorry. Poor you, that is horrible.

I know dentists are scary, but you really must go and see one. If you leave it, it will proably get worse.!

Don%26#039;t worry. I%26#039;m sure everything will be ok.

Dentists are here to help you. !!
Reply:You are going to need to go to the dentist ASAP and get it fixed.
Reply:Ashley is correct.. drop the tooth in some milk and head to the dentist ASAP!! My son fell and broke a tooth when he was young and the dentist was able to glue it back on.
Reply:OMG, now you HAVE to go to the dentist. He/she has to remove what is left of the rotted teeth inside. Then you will have an option to put in basically a couple of false teeth in the front which will be cemented to the gums. This will be costly now, and what is even worse is that there might be more problems that you need to fix. I can%26#039;t tell you exactly all they will do because I don%26#039;t really know your situation.

You really don%26#039;t need to be afraid of the dentist. It%26#039;s not a big deal! It is very important to go to the dentist every six months for a checkup and deep, thorough cleaning of the teeth. If you don%26#039;t it can lead to bigger problems and more money to pay.

Good luck.
Reply:There is nothing you can do to fix it on your own and could really hurt yourself (like get an infection that could kill you) if you try. You need to go to the dentist right away, the longer you wait the harder it will be for them to fix. My boyfriend had his tooth broken in half (adult front) and he had to have a cap put on his tooth. I hope you have medical insurance and if not your mother needs to apply to the state for some if it%26#039;s offered. Good luck!
Reply:I feel for you! I did something similar when I was young. I was lying in bed and kicked up in bed to get up, and my knee hit my mouth and broke my two front teeth. Not too much, just enough to take off the extra length, so ever since, my teeth are as short as the other teeth around it. I%26#039;ve always wondered about having it %26#039;fixed%26#039;. Technology is way better these days, but you will still have to go to a dentist to have is fixed or at least filed to smooth off the jagged ridge from the break. (mine were filed and barely anything more came off) I forget the name of it, but you can have a lengthing veneer put on it and it will look good as new. But, again, you have to fess up to your mom. You did not break it on purpose. There is no reason for her to get mad at you. If she does, it%26#039;s not YOU that she is mad at. She will know that an accident can happen at any time. If she knows about it... then you two can start to work something out as to when it will get fixed or other alternatives. I still have my shorter front teeth and that is who I am. It%26#039;s no big deal as long as the break is not too much or hurt. You might have some problem with sensitivity. Get a sensitive tooth toothpaste to help. At the very least, a filing and check up should be done, but talk to the dentist. There is no %26#039;quick fix%26#039; to fixing teeth. best of luck.
Reply:Unfortunately there%26#039;s nothing you can do to fix it yourself. I can guarantee you won%26#039;t be able to glue it back or anything like that. You NEED to get to a dentist. Set your fear aside and GO! If it broke and it%26#039;s all black inside....that sounds like it%26#039;s rotted out, and that%26#039;s NOT good. But a good professional dentist can fix it.

I blew off dentists for years, and I really regret it now. I%26#039;m sitting here trying to get used to a mouth full of FALSE teeth, and I%26#039;m paying $16,000 for the priviledge.

Whatever you do, PLEASE don%26#039;t even TRY to glue it. I can just see you with your lips and tongue all super glued together! That would really make your mom%26#039;s day!
Reply:The reason your broken teeth are black inside, is that they are rotten. You have put off seeing a dentist for far to long. And you will have to pay the price. If you do not go, you could end up with abscesses. Bacteria will get into your blood stream. This can even cause death.
Reply:Poor Thing!! I hate dealing with Teeth problems. I wanted to let you know about a company that offers up to 80% savings on your dental work for only $11.95 a month. One of my front teeth is grey (darker than the rest)?

When I was 9 my neighbor fell on my head and broke half of my front tooth. I couldnt find the missing piece. When i was 16 i went to a dentist and he said the nerve is dead. I had an operation done to remove the nerve and filled up the tooth temporarily untill I get a cap. Now im 17 and i noticed my half of the broken tooth is grey ...Why? and how do I fix it?? Do i whiten it or what

One of my front teeth is grey (darker than the rest)?
This happens when you have a %26quot;dead%26quot; tooth. Since you%26#039;ve had a root canal, ask your dentist if you can have internal bleaching done to help restore it to a whiter color. You%26#039;ll not want to get a crown on this tooth until you are at least in your early 20s. Until then your teeth will erupt further down and putting a crown on it now will only result in you needing another one in a few years. Hope this answers your questions.
Reply:also ask your dentist if you are able to get a cap now so you dont take a risk of breaking it..some patients in my office are able to get crowns, the tooth is no longer alive so it changes to that color as the last person has said..also ask if you can have a bonding done(tooth colored filling) to mask it in case you cant have it dont for another year..

Why are my teeth breaking? and why are they black inside?

This afternoon I was eating a lifesaver and %26amp; I bit it and my tooth broke in half. It%26#039;s on the right side behind my eye tooth. I mean like a huge chunk (like most of the tooth)just broke off and the piece that%26#039;s left is black. Why%26#039;s this happening? My 2 front teeth did the same thing in November. I haven%26#039;t been to a dentist in a long time but I thought I was doin ok takin care of my teeth. Maybe not? So what now? I%26#039;m 14 and we don%26#039;t have dental insurance.

Why are my teeth breaking? and why are they black inside?
Wander, wonder is right. Go to the public health clinic, they have programs that help children.

Toothaches are not normal!!! It means there is something wrong.

I am assuming it was your parents that told you toothaches are normal. They are ignorant. The fact that your mouth is a mess indicates that you are abused. Yes, NEGLECTING your child%26#039;s needs is a form of child abuse!!! It is a situation that DISGUSTS all oral health professionals and there is no excuse for it. It doesn%26#039;t necessarily happen to just poor families, wealthy parents can be guilty of neglecting their child%26#039;s oral needs too.

In my area, you can get free dental work funded by the public health unit if you are a child. Here is a link...

Regarding bleaching my teeth... with a chipped tooth!?

I%26#039;m 21 and when I was about 15 I chipped my tooth. I got a part of a fake tooth to fill in the rest.

Now my teeth are a little yellow and I%26#039;ve used this whitening product and it%26#039;s gradually working except for the broken tooth.... what should I do?

Should I get a crown to cover the front tooth so that I can whiten my teeth?

Regarding bleaching my teeth... with a chipped tooth!?
I have the same issue. I chipped my front tooth when I was 14 (25 now). My dentist told me back then NOT to use whitening products because they don%26#039;t work on the fake piece of the tooth. I am glad I learned ahead of time.

You can try baking sode mixed with hydrogen peroxide. That works well as an alternative and it doesn%26#039;t affect the chipped tooth.
Reply:Im not sure. I would go ask your dentist what to do.
Reply:yes
Reply:I have the same problem!! But it%26#039;s my front tooth and it makes everything worse.. i still have to wait till i get older to get a crown because that%26#039;s what im doing - so I%26#039;d reccomend a crown, it lasts longer then bleaching, etc.

Broken cracked tooth question?

i broke to of my back teeth, one had a filling that fell out and the tooth broke as well, and the other one cracked a chunk out well about a 1/4 of the molar.....will they be able to fix them or will they pull them....my whole jaw is achey....also how bad does it hurt to get a tooth pulled? i am 33 and never had nothing done but cleanings and fillings...thanks

Broken cracked tooth question?
Was there a hanging piece of tooth? If yes, then it may not be able to be crowned without another procedure call Crown Lengthening. If no, then probably, the dentist can place a crown on top. 1/4 of the molar missing is actually not much and very treatable w/o a root canal even.

Does it hurt when you bite down? If yes, then it may need to be pulled. Many times a crack can trace down to the roots of our teeth when teeth fracture. Dentists can%26#039;t leave fractures when placing a crown. When you bite down on it, it indicates that the crack may have travelled down to the root. If no, then again, it probably can be crowned.

Getting a tooth pulled is not as scary as people think. Most extractions can be done under local anesthesia and patients don%26#039;t feel anything. They will, however, HEAR everything which can be scary. Depending on how long, if bone was removed, how you take %26#039;post op pain%26#039;, etc, your dentist will give you some good meds to get filled. 2 days tops and you%26#039;ll be back to normal.

BTW, I%26#039;m 31 and recently had my wisdom teeth pulled. They were partial impacted (so they took some bone away), all under local anesthesia, and all I took was some prescription strength Motrin for post op pain. Just sore a little longer than our younger teenage counterparts, I%26#039;m sure.

Good luck and take care of your teeth! I meet a 22 yo guy who has partial upper and lower dentures due to decay!
Reply:They will either repair the tooth or pull it. Odds are they can fix it but it will be costly.
Reply:They might be able to put a crown on it. What happened to you sounds an awful lot like what happened to me last November and my dentist put a crown on it. If you have to get it pulled, it won%26#039;t hurt. They will numb it up pretty good or you can ask for a general anesthetic, but for that you may have to see an oral surgeon.
Reply:I%26#039;ve had the same happen. There should be no problem repairing the teeth. Even if you have decay they can give you a root canal, which today hurts less than a filling. Your fine, dude.
Reply:depending on your oral hygiene and how much of the teeth is left, they will more then likely suggest crown for them. some people may call them caps. they are pretty expensive though. they run about 1,000 a piece so it will be cheaper for you to have them pulled if you cant afford it.
Reply:they%26#039;ll probably fix it. both me and my bro have had chipped teeth before and they filled them up just fine. my brothers was REALLY bad too. as long as the chip isnt down to the nerve (i think your tooth turns black if that happens, but im no expert.) they should be able to fix it. good luck! =]
Reply:chances are you have an infection in your tooth, if your tooth is broken off theres probably old food in there. There is probably an infection in the root of the tooth. YOur jaw hurts because of this infection. You neeeeeeeeeeed to go to the Dentist and get a root canal, if you dont have enough money for a root canal you will at least need to see a Doctor to get a prescription like an antibiotic to remove the infection. The antibiotic is what your going to need first of all because any Doctor you go to will not give you a root canal until the infection goes away. Once it is gone the Doctor can give a root canal you want this because it will save your teeth. Although, if you cant afford it you can have the teeth removed and it doesnt hurt to have it removed all you feel is alot of pressure on yer face but once its out I can honestly tell you it feels soooooooooooooo damn good!!!!!! Right now, go buy some hydrogen peroxide and take at least 2tablespoons of peroxide and mix it with a half of glass of water, swish your mouth with the mixture let it foam up in your mouth this kills the infection then spit it out dont swallow it this will help. Also, go and buy some Ambesol to numb the pain it helps alot. Its alot cheaper to go to an Oral Surgeon tell him you have no insurance if you dont, they will work with you it usually costs $80 to have a tooth pulled. Good Luck!!!!
Reply:you need to see a dentist. i%26#039;m not quite sure what they will do but they will be able to fix it, they can fix just about anything now days. so don%26#039;t worry, get an appointment soon tho
Reply:I had the same exact thing happen to me, the filling fell out and part of the tooth went with it. I just had a root canal last week, but my option was to pull it or get a root canal ( I picked root canal because my teeth are really horrible and I had two pulled a few weeks ago and I can%26#039;t just keep getting rid of them). BUT- after 3 hours in the chair, they put the composit on and told me that they tried to save it, but I need to get it pulled because there was just not enough tooth left because of all the decay. It doesn%26#039;t hurt to get teeth pulled, ou are just sore for a few days (ibuprofen works to help with the swelling). Just do NOT suck anything, you will get a dry socket and they are the worst pain you will ever feel in your life, ever.

How much do fake teeth cost?

Here%26#039;s the deal. There%26#039;s this rope swing on a tree near our house and we swing out really far and land in a big pile of leaves. I was on the rope swing and when I came off, I landed on my sister who was in the leaves. My mouth hit her knee and messed up my teeth pretty bad. A couple were knocked out and some were broken. My mom took me to the dentist on Monday and I ended up having the cracked and broken teeth pulled out. So now my top 6 front teeth are gone. I had my molars pulled out a couple years ago cuz they were rotten and it was gonna cost too much to get them fixed. I only have 3 top teeth left, so would it be better to just get them pulled out too? My bottom front teeth are loose too and the dentist isn%26#039;t sure how they%26#039;re gonna be. Like he don%26#039;t know yet if they%26#039;ll be ok or if I%26#039;ll lose them too eventually. I%26#039;m 14, so am I too young to get fake teeth? Or will I just have to have no teeth like my mom? Will guys still look at me?

How much do fake teeth cost?
Tell your parents that their Homeowners Insurance may cover the cost to replace your teeth.

You only have 3 teeth left? Save them if you can, you can use them as %26#039;anchor%26#039; teeth if%26#039;/when you get partials.

When you get older, you can have something more permanent made...

Best of luck to you~
Reply:You poor thing. What a terrible accident, I%26#039;m so sorry.

You are not too young to get false teeth.

A bridge made of porcelain teeth is VERY expensive, but you may be able to get a payment plan from a dentist on false teeth, that include a full set of upper teeth made of plastic or a resin material. They may pull the rest of the teeth, or they may keep them and make a full partial and the existing teeth can create suction or an anchor (so to speak) to keep the teeth in better.

If you don%26#039;t have dental insurance, you may want to try calling the closest dental school and supervised students can make the teeth for you at a very low cost.

Good luck to you!
Reply:aww, i%26#039;m so sorry to hear about that! well yeah the girl who answered first pretty much covered it, but i feel so bad for you! luckily, no one will probably be able to tell you even have false teeth..heck my 80 year old grandparents had them and i had no idea they did until after they told me..and yes..guys will still look at you...i dont think dentures and those %26quot;lumineers%26quot; that all the famous people get have too much difference anyway.

good luck! =]
Reply:I had all of mine pulled out when I turned 18 and it%26#039;s not so bad with no teeth. If I was you I%26#039;d just get rid of the rest too. If they%26#039;re not that good you%26#039;ll only have to have them pulled later on. It%26#039;s not like 3 teeth are really gonna do you any good. I%26#039;d rather have no teeth like I have now than just a few here and there. Besides, if you have them all out you can get fake teeth to look however you want if to. I%26#039;m not sure how much they cost tho cuz I still have just gums.
Reply:I lost my front teeth too when I was really young from a bicycle accident. I ended up just having the rest pulled and getting a full set of false teeth at 15 because the teeth I had left weren%26#039;t that great and it was cheaper to just pull them all and get all false teeth. I%26#039;ve never been sorry I decided to just go all the way even tho when I take them out I have no teeth at all. Yes guys will still look at you and want you if you%26#039;re a nice person. If you%26#039;re a B**#^%26amp; it don%26#039;t matter what you look like guys will still steer clear of you. I got all new teeth for like $600.00 and they%26#039;re ok. Not great but ok. BTW, some guys think being able to take your teeth out is a big plus.

Guinea Pig Lost Front 2 Teeth?

I took my guinea pig to the vet today after advice from yahoo answers and guinea lynx after I found his front 2 teeth unaligned and looking broken:

http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/1664/...

They examined him to see if he needed the teeth to be cut or somehow realigned, but then while examining they said the teeth were broken and practically fell out in their hands.

Does this pose any new problems for me because I imagine it does. My piggy is probably in less pain because with broken teeth he probably was hurting. I%26#039;m glad its taken care of and Ive taken the precaution to get him that Oxbow Critical Care with a syringe, but I%26#039;m scared about any other problems that may occur.

Has this happened to anyone else and what have you done about it? Also what precautions should I go through? Is there anything new I should worry about now that he doesn%26#039;t have front teeth??? I really want my piggy to be comfortable and eating right so please any suggestions would be very helpful!!!

Guinea Pig Lost Front 2 Teeth?
That%26#039;s wonderful that you got your piggie into a vet! Kudos to you!

I%26#039;ll give you my own personal experience with piggie teeth. Two of my four boys have had somewhat recurrent teeth problems ranging from crooked, broken teeth, to completely missing teeth. Firstly, rodent%26#039;s teeth are constantly growing, so with proper care and nutrition, their teeth should start to grow back almost right away. It took about two weeks for my boys to have their front teeth back to normal. I attributed my pig%26#039;s teeth problems to lack of vitamin C, and I upped their red pepper intake. It seemed to help. If I were you, I would want to try to figure out why the teeth became misaligned to begin with. How long have you had your pig? Has he had this problem before, or was this the first time? If this is a recurrent problem, I%26#039;d talk to your vet about it to see if taking an xray might be worthwhile to rule out any jaw problems. Hopefully, this will only be a one-time thing, and once his new teeth start growing in they%26#039;ll be straight and beautiful *wink*.

In the meantime, your pig may need help eating. It%26#039;s great you%26#039;re prepared to syringe feed - you may need to do that for a bit until he%26#039;s able to get a hold of pellets and food himself. Just keep an eye on him and watch to see what he%26#039;s able to handle himself. I have a pig right now who%26#039;s missing one front tooth, and he%26#039;s managed to get along just fine on his own while it%26#039;s growing back. If you have a food scale, weigh your pig to monitor his weight. Watch his behavior to see if you notice any changes - changes could indicate pain, which can be helped with medication. Personally, though, I%26#039;d keep to this as a last resort.

You%26#039;re doing great! Hang in there - I%26#039;m sure your boy will pull through just fine.

EDIT - Critical Care is AWESOME for recovering piggies, too. While mixing it with water is great, you can also try mixing it with juices, like sugarfree cranberry juice, apple juice, or pedialyte, if your pig starts to get finicky about it. You may also want to syringe him water as well if he%26#039;s having any problems accessing his water bottle.
Reply:one of my guinea pigs teeth fell out shortly after i first got her. had to hand feed her, but it grew back fairly quickly. it hasn%26#039;t happened again since (it was about 3 yrs. ago).

just make sure you are feeding him often enough. the oxbow critical care it great by the way.
Reply:Poor piggy! I think they might grow back... I%26#039;m interested in this question... my pigs never had that happen... You should worry about his intake of fiber, unless of course that oxbow stuff includes it..
Reply:Did they give him some pain relief? I imagine it would hurt alot and eating would only make it hurt more, the gums are probably quite red and aggravated too. I would have asked about giving him some metacam (pain relief), maybe you could ring back and quiz them about whether or not he should have it. Buttercup was on 0.14ml of metacam 3 times a day for 3 days and then 2 times a day for 4 days because we suspected she was in pain, in the end the vet did not know what it was but the pain has since subsided.

How is he eating and drinking? If he is not eating and drinking you need to hand feed him. Critical Care is fantastic, basically it is a supplement and works well with ill guinea pigs as it gives them an appetite, you need to make it into a tea concentration. It may be a good idea to use Critical Care regardless of whether he is eating or not, just to sooth everything and to give him an appetite.

His teeth should grow back farely quickly, I am just worried that he can not eat and drink properly.
Reply:i had a piggy with really bad teeth - they fell out all the time - but its okay because their teeth constantly grow. In a week they should be a lot longer. Don%26#039;t worry, they usually end up okay:) mine lost both top and bottom, and he still ate fine :) if you%26#039;re worried then just feed yours some kiwi, it%26#039;s soft, they love it, and...it will make them feel better? :P anyway good luck!
Reply:like adelina said, hand feed him, make sure he eats, he won%26#039;t be able to shell sunflower seeds very well.

I have bad teeth and am afraid to go to the dentist. Help!!?

I have 2 teeth that have broken because they are decaying and I have numerous cavities that need filled. I’m so scared to go to the dentist because the last one I went to was very rough with my mouth. My gums for the most part seem to be fine but I know I have an abscess in one of the teeth that is broken in the back. The other broken tooth is in the front and I really don’t want it pulled because then I will forever be too embarrassed to smile(I already cover my mouth when I laugh because it embarrasses me soo much). One of my biggest fears is losing my teeth and having to get dentures but yet I’m still so scared to go to the dentist because of the pain. I also have no insurance and can’t even afford the work anyway. What do I do??!!!

I have bad teeth and am afraid to go to the dentist. Help!!?
Dentures.
Reply:Im not sure but when u find out let me know im the exact same no insurance but horrible teeth..
Reply:Wow there has to be something some doctors do pro bono work, there are charities like operation smile. I think you should look into that but you must go to the dentist

medicated
Reply:that sux soo bad. i have bad teeth 2 but i have insurance. i have weak enamel
Reply:please go.My friend is a dentist the more you wait the worse is going to get,Not only that but it will cause bad breath,You dont what that
Reply:suck it up! whats worse, withstanding a few moments of pain or a lifetime of ugly and painful teeth? tell the dentist your fears before hand and he might be esaier on you. ask your friends who they go to.
Reply:Well, the best you can do is try to borrow money from someone like your parents (or other family) if at all possible. Try to see if you have a dental school around you, they do work cheaper but its done by a student, they have a real dentist there though to watch everything they do. Or try going to carecredit.com don%26#039;t know how good your credit is but this is basically a dental loan. Other than that, I don%26#039;t really know what to tell you. And by the way, dentures aren%26#039;t that bad. I had to get dentures just 4 months ago, but it isn%26#039;t as bad as you would think. It all depends on your mindset. I can eat just about anything right now, except for stuff like apples or corn on the cob. But other than that, I can eat everything, without worrying about breaking another tooth. Good Luck.
Reply:I know exactly how u feel. All of my top teeth were bad. All of the enamal had been worn off of my 4 front teeth and the rest had severe decay. I lived this way for 5 years. I never smiled and i avoided laughing and covered my mouth too.

I had a full upper denture put in last week. I was scared too but i just kept thinking that they couldnt put me through any more pain that I had already been through. I was right.

Getting dental work does hurt. The worst part is ths shot of novocaine. Its not even that bad. Think about something positive while this is happening. After that u will feel pressure and its not as intense as people make it out to be, and u will hear creepy noises but it is normal.

These things will help to calm you before going to the dentist. Make sure u get a good nights sleep. Take 800 mg of ibuprohpen 30 minutes before going. Or if u have any vicodin or any pain killers that were givin to you for your teeth take one of those just to make sure that your teeth dont hurt when u get the shot. go to a dentist who provides laughing gas. This really helped me. Also try to think of something positive instead of thinking that u are scared of the dentist. Like how much better you will feel once its all over.

The first step is making a appointment and getting estimates. Then plan from there. Once u know the total cost it will be easier to figure out how to pay for it. Try to find a dentist that charges about 80 per tooth extraction and provides free gas. I saved alot of money here. Some dentists will try to convince u that u need expensive surgery at 400 a tooth. In some cases they are right but not all. Dentists have told me this but I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed on gas alone. No surgery.

Call the salvation army and social services and places like that. They might know if any assistance exists in your area for dental help. There are also free clinics but im not sure if they provide any gas. Try to see if there is a college nearby that does work for cheap or free. On a personal note though, i hate colleges and free clinics, i tried to take this route a long time ago and the ones i tried to go to u cant even make a appointment, its all first come, first serve. so u could find yourself waiting all day like i did for nothing, just disapointment. If none of these things work just start doing what u can little by little. one or two teeth at a time, they didnt pull all of mine at once he wanted me to heal between extractions. It took me 3 months to get them done. See if they will work with you on payments. Ask them if they have any other finance options through banks. Capital one has a program for that.

If u can save your bottom teeth try to do that. Lower dentures are terrible from what im told. they dont stay where they belong.

I hate to see anyone go through this. not being able to smile, laugh, or even have the guts to speak to someone is horrible. Some people can be cruel about it but dont pay them any mind. It just shows what kind of person they really are inside. Best of luck to you.

p.s. sorry for the long response. some things just are not that simple lol. and the spell checker isnt working either.
Reply:the first thing i would do is make an appt with the dental offices hygienist. she will xray and clean your teeth and that same appointment the dentist will examine your entire mouth. explain to them your financial porblems and see if they can help you come up with a plan where you can get one or two cavities done at a time. many people get overwhelmed when they need alot of work but if you do just a little at a time- sometimes it gets the job done - just takes longer. also, explain to them that your last dentist was rough...they have seen this before and will take good care of you.

Teeth Issues..cant go to dentist?

Ok i have no insurance, no money, and major teeth issues. I%26#039;m petrafied of the dentist too. I had sedation dentistry work done about ayear ago and had 8 of them fixed but i have much more i need done. some of my teeth are broken in half and all.

I know I need to get to the dentist but what can i do in the mean time? i%26#039;ve read about cloves but does this work if you have broken teeth (some no tooth at all just a brown stump)? I need something to aleviate pain to hold me off for a couple of months till I get insurance which should be in like 3 months. then ill go. any ideas?

cuz i know most of them solutions are very temporary. If i take penecillin it helps but i%26#039;m out now.

Teeth Issues..cant go to dentist?
clove oil, cloves, ice packs,(no heat) you can get tylenol 1, with codeine by aking the pharmacist, no prescription. Orajel or anbesol (try extra strength liquid) use a Q-tip and hold it there, really makes a difference. You can try rubbing the gums behind the tooth with your finger. Switch from one to the other, Advil to tylenol, sometimes that helps. Try rinsing your mouth with water.

I read someone%26#039;s answer a different time for tooth pain, and they mentioned vanilla? I%26#039;ve heard rinsing your mouth with cinnamon, too. By the way, my husband used to crush tylenol/aspirin and put it on the tooth directly, he said it would help for the moment, but the tooth would crumble. Hope some of this helps!
Reply:You need to go to the dentist, there is no temporary fix.

Go see a proffesional.
Reply:Try asprin, warm compresses applied to the outside of your cheek, ambesol, and I know it sounds crazy, but gargle with a strong hard liquor like whiskey. That will kill any bacteria.
Reply:Are you near any colleges? Some have dental schools that will work with you. How about Dept. of Social Services? Medicaid?

Ow.
Reply:Hey there, I forget what it is called, but they have an over-the-counter remedy for painful teeth/gums. You can get it at any major grocery store/drug store and it is usually found near the tylenol. I used it while waiting to get my wisdom teeth removed...it helped for awhile but not for all-day. I would go to your counties website and see if they have a govt. way to get dental care. Or see if you can get on welfare and go about it that way and have the govt. pay for it. Good luck!!
Reply:Have you tried the dental school in your area? You may also look into your local dental societies and see if there are any clinics that do the dental work for people who don%26#039;t have ins at a reasonable fee. Penicillin can only help for so long.
Reply:Check your local listings. Where I live we have a clinic that will see you regardless of your financial problems.
Reply:Dissolve aspirin on your teeth %26amp; use Anbesol. I%26#039;ve used aspirin many times %26amp; it works. A friend swears by Anbesol.

Hang in there... good luck!
Reply:Because you have so much wrong with your teeth. I had alot of the same. I heard of something that might help. In a small glass mix 1/4 of hydrogen peroxide and fill the rest of the glass up with water. Rince three times a day untill you get to the dentest. And after you are done with him or her you need to keep rincing twice a day for three months. It really works. And for pain take Excedrin extra strength every six hours. Good luck from Arizona
Reply:You might try Maximum Strength Oral-Gel or Maximum Strength Ambesol. If the penicillin helps then you obviously have some infection in your gums or in the root areas of some of your teeth. You really should be seen by a dentist. You might try a Clinic or your local area Health Dept.. They might know of someone that can see you or they might can get you something for your pain until you can be seen by a dentist.

I need to have 7 teeth pulled but I am terrified. I mean I have severe anxiety about the dentist. Why?

I hear lots of people say they don%26#039;t like going to the dentist but they go because they have to. Not me. I am 30 years old and I have not had any work done at the dentist since I was 15. I have been several times since I have been an adult. As a matter of fact, I have been to four different dentists in the past six months to get different opinions. All of them say I need 7 teeth extracted. My four wisdom teeth, one extra wisdom tooth that hasn%26#039;t came in, and two other teeth. Both of the bottom wisdom teeth are decayed and broken off into the gum. One of my teeth up top and on the side is completely split in half and you can see the tissue in the center of the. I believe this one has caused loss of vision in my left eye, but nobody can confirm that. All of the broken teeth ache very badly. One is inflammed as we speak. I am taking antibiotics and pain meds. The dentist told me I needed to get the abscessed teeth pulled ASAP, but I am too scared to do it. I have to wait ...

I need to have 7 teeth pulled but I am terrified. I mean I have severe anxiety about the dentist. Why?
I, too, had a phobia of the dentist. I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth pulled at the same time. They gave me an IV of sodium pentathol, and had me count backwards from 100. I made it to 96, then the next thing I knew I was opening my eyes and it was over. It was weird because it was as if no time passed but I woke up in another room. I never felt pain at the sight of the tooth extraction, I only had a sore throat for a douple of days from the cotton they put in my throat to keep from dropping tooth fragments down my throat. It was a piece of cake. It sounds like you need to have it done so you may as well just go and do it as soon as you can. Then it will be over!

You will feel SO MUCH BETTER after getting the infected teeth out of your head!

Good luck. Just do it!!!!!!
Reply:I forgot to mention, I had mine done at a dental school, also. They did an excellent job, I had absolutely no problems afterwards. The teacher is watching/correcting the students every move, or the teacher does it to demonstrate for the students, so don%26#039;t worry. Report It

Reply:I%26#039;m really sorry you have to go through this.

I have anxiety about the dentist also.

It%26#039;s hard to trust someone and be totally vulnerable to them like the position that the dentist has us in.

I%26#039;m sorry you%26#039;re in pain.

Your fear is normal. There%26#039;s many levels of issues going on:

1. trust

2. financial worries.

3. Your appearance.

4. your ability to chew your food properly.

See if a close friend will go and sit with you during this dental visit. It helps to have friends with you.

Remember to pray to God for help. The bible says, %26quot;Ask %26amp; you shall receive%26quot;

I%26#039;m not a big bible thumper, but I like that verse.

It helps to see a counselor about your fears.

To be able to talk to yourself in a loving way and separate the fears from reality is helpful.

You WILL get through this.

I hope it%26#039;s quick %26amp; painless as possible.

The wisdom teeth will take time to heal.

Remember to take deep breaths in %26amp; out to help you relax.

Peace %26amp; Strength to you and your family at this time.
Reply:You have my prayers.

My sister had her front teeth pulled and replaced when she was a teen.

And I ran around with a decayed tooth for two years before getting it fixed.

Have you checked with the Am Dental Association to see if they have any compassionate programs? Dentists make so much they can use a tax write off.

Also look into a therapeutic hypnotist. They may be able to help you with the fear.
Reply:ooohh, oh dear oh dear. going to the dentist is nooooo biggie, for a teen (like me) but if yr an adult, it%26#039;s gonna hurt a bit. good luck, and try think positively about it.
Reply:Maybe you could request a prescription for a tranquilizer to take before the extraction, to help you relax.
Reply:the only tooth you need emergency care for is the broken one split in half - perhaps it can be saved and a crown put on it. But if not, it should be extracted. Whether it can be saved or not depends on whether the crack extends down to the root.

Whether it caused a loss of vision depends on a variety of other health issues which you do not discuss as well as the history of your eye problem and the split tooth.

I suggest you get a woman dentist. They are much more gentle and caring in their approach to a patient.
Reply:I hate going to the dentist too ,there is a pill now that he could give you to take before /30min. of your appointment ,it replaces being put to sleep/gassed,etc,i don%26#039;t remember what they called it but it cost alot, and ins.didn%26#039;t pay for it.the pain got so bad i had to do something ,that%26#039;s when i go.but i don%26#039;t have any problems now,had them all removed and got dentures ,its all good.i think the worst part is the after care,i had alot of dental work and have tried all the methods available ,its what my pocket book allows that always helped make the choices, there are 3 pains that i find hardest to deal with and tooth pain is top of the list #2 is ear,# is heart burn...hope you get better soon,Blessings to you ...

Bad Teeth and extremely painful gums with swelling?

Well this is kind of weird but I was born and never have had enamal on my teeth and they rot easy I have had almost every tooth capped filled or something to that effect and i%26#039;m only 20. I recently moved to texas and my job does not offer dental insurance i only make 5.50 an hour and cant afford to just go now ive got a tooth that is broke to the point you can see the root and is very painful and another tooth that doing the same and my front tooth has broke. Then to top it off now the area around the broken teeth is swollen and my entire face is swollen and it is extremely painful to the point of tears to eat smile or even talk. Any one have a clue where to go to get free or cheep dental work or a place to get insurance that is really cheep or for extremely low income? and what is causing the swelling so bad?

Bad Teeth and extremely painful gums with swelling?
Check with your city%26#039;s health dept to see if they offer free dental clinics, or check to see if there are any dental schools close by to where you are.
Reply:you have to floss so your gums wont swell,

but really you have to see a dentist, get a job to pay for it, or get a job that covers dental insurance
Reply:Yea there is healthcare for those who are low income, do a web search on goverment free healthcare, low income health care dental for your state - you should be golden - Your local hospital can refer you to where to go also -- The swelling is an infection, so yea go get some antibiotics - You can go to the emergency room, they can%26#039;t refuse to help you so you can at least get some pain medication and antibiotics - plus get referred to the where to go to apply for the goverment health card or whatever its called
Reply:I%26#039;m not a dentist but you may have a case of gingivitis which can lead to rotting teeth and eventually if left untreated, teeth that will rot and fall out. You may want to check the local public health clinics in your area. They%26#039;ll treat you and your cost will depend upon how much you earn. They use what%26#039;s called a %26quot;sliding scale fee%26quot; to determine what you%26#039;ll pay. In some cases, it%26#039;ll cost you nothing.

Check the public health centers in your area. Good luck !
Reply:you can go to mexico

swelling can be caused from an abcessed tooth. you need to see a dentist or doctor soon, because people have died from infection in their teeth. be careful.

also, you can use neydent toothpaste, and ionic toothbrush and amosan
