Hi, I had 3 wisdom teeth removed on 4/1. They were able to remove the teeth intact without cutting my gums or breaking the teeth. I know some swelling is normal, but I'm having slight pain on the glands under my ears. Is this normal? Mainly, the glands feel swollen, but I have no temperature and the clots are still in place. On one side, the clot looks black like it was blood and on the other side, the clot looks greyish. Just want to be sure nothing is wrong and this is normal. I didn't start smoking til later yesterday and the clots are still in place. I've been using a heating pad to help with the slight swelling feel.
Is gland swelling normal for wisdom teeth extraction?
Swelling of the glands means there is an infection somewhere. It may just go away in a day or two. Our glands are designed to collect the by products of infections. That is why when you have a sore throat, your glands will swell sometimes. Just take some pain pills and if it doesn't go away in a couple of days, call your dentist.
Reply:Yes that is normal wait a week and it should go down, if not go to the dr

I want one of my teeth temorarly filled can they do it?
When I was seven I broke my tooth. I went to a emergency denist and he put a temory filling in but now this filling has worn down. Though when he put my filling in my teeth wasn't the same size theres a big difference now and im not having it capped till im 18! I'm 12 now can they put a temporary filling in so my teeth are the same size?
I want one of my teeth temorarly filled can they do it?
Temporary fillings are exactly that, temporary. At my office we have patients only keep them in for about a few weeks. This is because they are likely to fall out or fail. I would talk to your dentist about a payment plan of some sort so you can get the crown put on ASAP. If you need a crown on a tooth and wait to long (especially years!) the tooth is likely to crack and not be repairable. Meaning you will have to get it pulled, then you will either have to keep the cap in your teeth, or have a bridge or implant. Both of which are very expensive. My advice would be to crown that tooth before that happens.
Reply:hmm i think they can but im not sure you should just ask the dentist they will tell u
Reply:uh y arent u capping it till ur 18, if u need it just go do it
Reply:From what it sounds like, the "temporary" filling they put on was a type of tooth colored plastic material (composite resin). The reason they do it this way for kids is because your teeth are still immature and if they try to put a crown on it, you risk exposing the pulp. The pulp will get smaller as you get older and then they'll be able to crown it normally. If the composite has worn down or fallen off, the dentist can replace it with the same material. At 12, it's still probably too early to do a crown...but it depends on the tooth and what it looks like on the xray. Your dentist will be able to advise best.

White marks on my teeth, they are breaking?
For the past few years i have had white marks on alot of my teeth..and recently they have been caving in, leaving holes in my teeth...wherever theres a white blotch, give it a few months and it'll break and leave a hole..does drinking alot of Coke cause it? and what should i do? can a dentist just patch them up with fillins?
ps: one happaned about 10 minutes ago on a tooth up the very back :/
White marks on my teeth, they are breaking?
sounds like you have some areas where the teeth are decalcified (the beginning of a cavity) which are then breaking down and becoming cavitated. This could be diet related (drinking too much Coke) or oral hygiene related (not keeping them clean enough) but you should go to a dentist asap so he can take a look and see what needs to be done to fix you up and counsel you on how to stop them from returning because even if they are fixed if you don't change your habits more will form
Reply:its called decalcification
Reply:Go to the Dentist now!
The coke may be wearing your teeth down. Have you ever read any of the facts on coke? I didn't have soda for a year after.
Reply:Usually white marks indicate too much flouride was ingested when you were little. Head to the Dentist before you get some major damage.

Wisdom Teeth and swollen gum?
I am in pain. My wisdom tooth came out years ago and its mostly chipped away. It has a few sharp edges that I did notice. Its already been about 4 days that I noticed pain when I bite down. My gum is swelling on top of my broken wisdom tooth. It looks like a small bubble and it hurts to the touch. Could this be an infection. I cant even eat nor talk right. Should I go to a Doctor or a dentist? Has this happened to anyone else?
Wisdom Teeth and swollen gum?
Go to dentist immediately, you probably have an abscess under the tooth.
Dentist will give you something to remove infection, it can then be removed.
It will not get better only worse.
Regards
Reply:Dude, you probably need to get that tooth removed. Get to a dentist ASAP and they can give you the scoop on what's really going on. Most likely it is infected. When my wisdom teeth started to come in they caused me a lot of problems and I was having trouble eating normal foods for the longest time. Thankfully I got them removed, and no problems since! I know you've had it awhile, but it could be the same kind of thing.
Good luck!

get a night guard made by your dentist
Reply:visit the dentist!!!
maybe you have a tooth in the back that causes this!!
Reply:wear a sports mouth guard, they're cheap.
Reply:Go to your dentist and get a mouth guard.
Reply:get a mouth piece to soften your bite over nite .......
Reply:put them in a cup on the nightstand.
Reply:get a mouuth garud
Reply:Get a mouthpiece made, like athletes use.
Reply:take them out at night
Reply:yes, consult your dentist. They make night time mouth guards for that type of thing.
Reply:go see a dr
Reply:If you want a cheap solution, you can try wearing a sports mouthguard to bed.
A better and more expensive solution would be to go to a dentist and ask for help. He would probably fit you with a more comfortable mouthguard to wear at night.
Reply:Have you tried a mouth guard....lots of people use them to protect their teeth at night due to grinding. My sister used to grind her teeth constantly while sleeping, we used this method and it helped her out alot!! Try it out, it might help ya!
Reply:I'd see a dentist about getting a nightguard, they are usually for people who grind their teeth the more traditional way (side to side on all the teeth) but it may help you too, you would need to ask the dentist.
Until you have time to get to a dentist, you could just wear a regular mouth guard to bed. You can get one at any sporting goods store, follow the directions on it to form it to your mouth. and since you only need protection near the front of your mouth you can always cut the back part off of each side and leave only enough to cover the front half of your teeth.

use a teeth guard like in boxing this will relieve most if not all the strees
if you don't have one try thoes foam thing you bite on a the dentist tha mold to your teeth although
I think the mouth guard would be much easier to find
it works for me... but you have to remember to put it in
Reply:well im not quick sure what you mean but you could try going to your doctor about it and maybe he or she could give you a retainer or something to put in your mouth at night so you wont hurt your teeth
Reply:Alright man I have the same thing and also have one of my front teeth chipped so it really hurts so i feel you. When I did this I was usually in a stressful state and I somewhat knew what was going on in my dreams but I could not wake up, what I do now is in my dream I put my hand in my mouth. And I actually put my fingers in my mouth while I'm sleeping while this happens. So I wake up because I am biting the crap out of my fingers in real life. I don't think some people have the ability to do this but I kinda trained myself. Good luck, some people get small mouth pieces made for this.
Reply:go to the dentist tell him your problem that happened to my friend Bye
Reply:Generally the treatment for sleeping grinding is the same as for sleeping clenching. Get a night guard. At a continuing education course recently, we were told that if a person's normal force of chewing during the day (which would be monitored by your awake brain) is 25 Newtons, then at night while you are asleep the force exerted on your teeth by clenching and grinding might be as high as 250 Newtons. That is a huge difference.
Get a night guard. It will help your jaw to relax and if anything gets worn down it will be the plastic of the night guard and not your teeth.
Reply:that is grinding. Go buy a night mouth guard. Call your dentist or go to any local pharmacy and buy a mouth guard. They are located in the oral health section of the store.
Reply:Hey Julian, you need to get a retainer. Plastic retainers are the best as they fit over all of your teeth. This will minimise any damage that is getting done to your teeth while you sleep. The retainers may also make it harder to press your front teeth together. The retainers dont usually cost much especially if you have private health cover. Good Luck. If all else fails buy sports retainers, they are huge and will make it extremely difficult for you to even move your jaw at night.

A Dentist repaired my upper plate and a few days later one of the teeth broke out.?
The dentist won't fix it or help me pay for another. I am considering filing a suit against that man. What do you think?
A Dentist repaired my upper plate and a few days later one of the teeth broke out.?
Unless you are chewing on rocks, there's no reason that a brand-new repair falling apart like that should be acceptable to the dentist. He should be ashamed of shoddy worksmanship.
You should go to his office in the morning and speak to the receptionist. Have the plate in and hope that it's a full waiting room. Speak a little louder than you normally would and gesture to the broken tooth...let his waiting patients see for themselves that the dentist won't back up his work. Hopefully the shame factor will kick in and he'll fix it.
If not...
Next, I'd file a complaint with the state Board. I would then look for another dentist nearby who can fix it so you don't walk around looking like that. Good luck.
Reply:You can't really say the dentist is at fault. We don't know the nature of the repair that he did. Maybe the denture was broken quite badly.
The biggest thing here is that you are reasonable. If you feel you have a legitimate concern as to why this tooth broke away from the denture after the dentist repaired it, then speak to him about it. If you are trying to get something for nothing, well, then maybe you are the problem.
Reply:I think that it quite typical of the "new america" out there..... Heck!!!!!!!!!!!! Mildly put... as I dont know the rules here that well but get this!!!!!!! I had laser surgery done 2 years Sept and now after 35 years in Govt service I may have to retire.... because I can't see very well anymore and Ithink I just received my 4 or 5 opinion .... What do you think

My daughter is just one yr old and nearly has a full set of teeth ive noticed that her teeth are breaking?
i mean first one of her side tooth brole in half now her front tooth has broke im very concerned abt what is happening, she is mainly breastfed
My daughter is just one yr old and nearly has a full set of teeth ive noticed that her teeth are breaking?
probably not getting a good diet .she should be eating normal family food by now. see your dentist and speak to your health visitor.
Reply:Does she have any juice out of a bottle as this will rot her teath. Also at 1 years old I would stop breast feeding and start giving her veg and fruit to eat and healthy balanced diet. Go to dentist and he will advise what to do and what is causing the problem, there is something rotting her teeth and you have to take this seriously as she has those baby teeth till she is around 7 years old and children are very cruel when they start school, so do something now!
Reply:She needs to eat a proper diet and should have been taken off breast milk a while ago. Maybe not completely, but it should NOT be her main source of food. She is not getting enough nutrition. She needs to chew stuff to strengthen her teeth and gums. If her teeth are breaking there could be other medical problems to follow. Please take her to the doctor to have her checked out followed by a dentist visit so your daughter isn't in pain from the broken teeth. I wish you luck.
Reply:Sounds like insufficient calcium in her diet, and possibly poor dental hygiene. She should be on a full mixed diet at a year old.
I suggest you seek the advice both of your dentist and your GP as a matter of urgency.
Reply:This sounds very negative and I apologise but I had a full set of teeth at a very young age and the same thing happened to me! I have always had really bad teeth (in terms of condition) they need a lot of looking after by me and the dentist - it is almost as if they are older than they should be? You definitely need to take her to the dentist to keep on top of it!

Reply:Just a guess, but she probably needs more nutrients than you are able to give her through her breast milk. I almost exclusively breastfed until my baby was somewhere between 8 1/2 - 9 1/2 months old, but at that point she would get fussy after breastfeeding. My mom pointed out that her tummy wasn't getting full. I started supplementing with food (protein, vegetables and fruit) and she was less fussy. AMA recommends exclusively breastfeeding for the first 6 months and then offering other types of food after that. They still recommending supplementing with breastmilk through the first year or two of life. I hope this helps.

Could My Teeth Be Affecting My Singing?
I recently broke a tooth and had a crown, but it does not feel comfortable (too big) and seems to be disturbing my other teeth and actually even affecting my singing (the sound is less resonant from that side of my mouth than from the other). Am I imagining this? The previous tooth was small enough to leave a considerable space between it and the one next to it, but the crown does not; could that be affecting the acoustics of my voice?
Could My Teeth Be Affecting My Singing?
possibly... talk about it to your dentist or a singing coach. they can either fix it or work around it. my friens=d whistles when she sings because of the way her teeth are.... :-D hope this helps

Our 4 month old lab puppy got hit and one of his teeth broke. Will it grow back, or heal by it's self?
Not if it was a second tooth. Teeth in dogs are much like people they get a baby set and an adult set and that is it. If your tooth broke would it grow back? On the other hand if one was loose it might firm up if you don't disturb it to much. If it chipped it will only grow back if it was a baby tooth and would have been replaced by an adult tooth anyway.
Our 4 month old lab puppy got hit and one of his teeth broke. Will it grow back, or heal by it's self?
Heh,good news. Pups lose their baby teeth. ^_- it'll fix itself. No worries.
Reply:No, it will not grow back.
You may need to have a vet look at this. If the dog is in pain, do it now.
Reply:At 4 months old your puppy should be close to getting his adult teeth. If you puppy still has his puppy teeth (very thin and pointy) then every thing should go normally. If not I'd say take him to the vet and get it checked out.
Reply:It will grow back depending how much chipped if it DID get chipped. See a vet to make sure there won't be any harm to your dog.

Wisdom Teeth. Do you think they're coming in?
My gums are sore, where the top left wisdom tooth would be coming in. My jaw has been hurtin a little bit lately, so throw me your ideas, i'd like to hear your opinions on this.
oh and just a little story for ya. (if you have a super weak stomach dont read, but its not that bad)
when i went to get my teeth pulled before i had gotten braces(which got taken off in may 2007) the dentist broke my teeth off INTO my gums, and almost pulled the wrong teeth, and not only did he do all that but i had to go in and get surgery!!!! i was in pain for a straight week.....that was honestly the worst pain i've ever been in, so if these are my wisdom teeth coming in, i'm really scared to get them taken out.
Wisdom Teeth. Do you think they're coming in?
At first they may seem to hurt but later on you get used to it and then you barely notice them (a little). When they get taken out I usually think I'm just gonna get another tooth pulled out no big deal. And when the pulling comes sometimes they give you a shot to numb the lip because that's what mine did. It really hurt but when it was about to be pulled out it didn't really hurt. So when they get taken out try to follow these tips so you won't feel so bad, or hurt as much
Reply:My wisdom teeth are coming out as well. I don't feel pain as much as i do annoyance. The gums just feel a tad weird as they are coming out. If your wisdom teeth ARE coming out, you should see your gums forming around your teeth in a few days. Sore is probably a good word.
Reply:Sounds like they're coming in! My advice - go get that Xray taken - there's no way of knowing whether it's something that needs to be extracted without an Xray. Maybe it'll just grow out straight and without any problem!
I just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled this morning about 6 hours ago. 2 of them (lower) had to be surgically removed and honestly, it hurts - but nothing I can't handle. They gave me an Rx for Vicodin so I'm just waiting for 4 hours to pass so I can take another pill! It IS painful thugh so be ready, but remember that it's nothing you can't handle...
It does hurt though, which is why I am trying to distract myself online by reading other people's problems! :o)
Good luck, you'll be fine!

What i should do when my baby (almost 2 years old) tooth broken?
My son did the same when he was 3. Those baby teeth are so small, aren't they? The bottom half of his tooth was missing after a fall. Baby teeth are much easier to break or chip on impact (compared with permanent teeth) because they're so small and not as strong. He didn't appear to be in pain after the initial fall but his smile looked awful. I took him to a pediatric dentist and they put a GI filling on it. It's similiar to a cap but it's white and makes it appear that the tooth is whole again. The chipped tooth has the enamel broken off so there is no protection on that spot to prevent decay. Your child should see a dentist. Preferably a pediatric dentist because they're great with toddlers.
The GI filling costs $60 but that was 10 years ago and I don't know what it costs now. About once a year it would fall out. The first time it was lost I had it replaced for free but after that I paid for a new one each time.
What i should do when my baby (almost 2 years old) tooth broken?
I don't think there's much you can do until their about 7 when the new teeth come in. Just make sure it's filed down so the baby doesn't hurt it's tongue.
Reply:get a cap
Reply:go to the dentist, it may have to be filled or pulled. A broken tooth can decay easily, and it will hurt alot.
Reply:You have to go to the dentist to fill it in and the make probably pain go away. Make sure give your baby relatively soft food and make sure he/she doesn't clench their jaw or chew on anything. Don't worry though. He/She will eventually get their adult teeth after about 5 years. So they won't live with that broken teeth for long. Just make sure you go to the dentist soon.
Reply:Is it just a chip? If more than a tiny chip...go to the dentist incase the root is damaged.

Rabbit Teeth Help!?
My rabbit has always had a problem with his front teeth being too long. Every 3-4 weeks I bring him to the vet to have them trimmed so I do take care of his teeth condition.
This morning I looked into his cage and noticed that he got his top front teeth caught around the bars of his cage. He did this one other time and I was able to help free himself. This time he pulled back and broke on tooth, and ripped the second one right out of the gum. There was blood on the tooth but he doesn't appear to be bleeding. Since today is Sunday the vet is closed. What should I do?! Is it ok to wait until tomorrow to take in to his usual vet? Can he get an infection over night?
I'm very worried, please help!
Rabbit Teeth Help!?
Do the best that you can to keep it clean. Try to give him some soft foods to eat and just get him to the vet first thing tomorrow morning. He should be fine but there is some possibility of infection and some possibility for even more ongoing tooth problems.
Reply:call the emergence vet they will tell you what to do
Reply:Take him to the vet in the Morning, I am sure he will be fine and so will you if you relax and take deep breaths. good luck
Reply:he should be ok. did your vet not tell you that rabbits are gnawers? wild rabbits keep their teeth shorter by gnawing on stuff in the wild. you should give your bunny a chunk of wood in his cage for this. just make sure it is not treated wood. a piece of plain old kiln dried 2 x4 will work. just replace it when he gnaws it up. we had rabbits when I was a child. They would chew up the nest boxes and then Dad would replace them with new boxes. your vet is making a living off of you by charging you for something you can help your rabbit with your self.
Reply:call the vet!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Usually, the front teeth aren't the worst problem a rabbit can have, it is the back teeth (make sure the vet you take him to checks his back teeth, if he doesn't, you might want to find another rabbit vet!).
When there is a problem with the front teeth, it is usually them growing out wrong, which if frequently related to trauma sometime in his past. This does sound like that situation based on your description, but obviously without an exam, I am just guessing.
If the teeth are growing abnormally, they can circle round and start going BACK INTO the bunny, and that can lead to abscess, and those can be fatal. The other problem is the one you have just experienced; the tooth getting caught on something and a traumatic fracture.occurs. In some circumstances, removing the front teeth is the best option, but this is something to discuss with your experienced rabbit vet.
The best recommendation is always have a vet check it out, and in this case, maybe some NON-STEROIDAL pain medication (I like Metacam for rabbits). This is too ensure that your rabbit continues to eat. If it's too painful, and the rabbit doesn't eat, he might run into a gastrointestinal stasis secondary to this, and then he'll really be in trouble.
If you don't have an emergency vet that sees rabbits (you need to call the emergency clinic and see if their vet knows about rabbits or not), then the number one thing to monitor is his eating. Soft food, such as leafy greens (collard greens, turnip greens, parsley, romaine lettuce), are a good choice, although I know some rabbits who continue to eat hay even with severe dental trauma.
As for hard blocks of wood, etc. they will not be as effective has lots of timothy hay in the diet. That is where how most rabbits keep their teeth worn correctly.
Good luck
2. get him/her a chewing block of wood.(available from pet stores)
3. keep your rabbit in doors tonight.
Reply:Put more thing in the cage for chewing so this doesn't happen again
Sorry about your rabbit
Reply:If he's not bleeding and does not seem to be in a lot of pain, you are probably okay to wait until tomorrow, but I would keep an eye on him and definitely take him as soon as possible to get him checked out. It's not like they make a lot of noise, so sometimes you can't tell what's going on with them.
If your bunny will allow, see if you can hold him and check out inside his mouth to see how serious it is. If you have an emergency vet and you feel uneasy about him, call the emergency vet.
There is a sweet bunny at a rabbit sanctuary where I volunteer that had to have both of his front teeth removed (it was a very severe case). Luckily, bunnies do their chewing with their back teeth, so this won't affect his eating, just his ability to quickly grab hold of things like hay straws.
Good luck with you bunny.
Reply:Keep it clean, and give him soft foods like finely chopped carrots. Take him to the vet tomorrow. To prevent this from happening again put a stick in his cage, so he can chew on it. It will file them down.
Reply:I have had over 20 rabbits. I currently have 2 males. You must provide sumthing for rabbits to chew on and wear down their teeth, other than boredom or being caged up all the time, that is probably one of the reasons why he got his teeth caught on his cage. Give him chewable toys such as wood(not pine) and crunchy veggies. Next, if my rabbit broke his tooth out to the gum and bleeding I'd take him immediately to an emergency pet facility/hospital if his regular vet can't attend him. You try breaking a tooth off your gum and waiting a day to get medical help. This can be VERY expensive, so it's your call and your bunny. You should at least call a pet hospital.

How do you stop root pain in a tooth that has broken off?
Hi, I have a back tooth that broke off awhile ago. Now the root is slightly exposed and it hurts like crazy. I went to the hospitol and they tried to block it. stuck a big needle in it and shot it up with something. They also gave me Tylenol 3. But nothing has stopped the pain yet. Is there a basic home remedy that will help ease the pain? please help I am desperate
thanks
How do you stop root pain in a tooth that has broken off?
Get some needle nose pliers and pull the tooth or whats left of it!
Reply:ambesol
Reply:Try some dent temp. You can buy it at any drug store.
Reply:Back to the dentist, root canal and cap. Sounds as though those roots are infected. ASAP!
Reply:You need to see a dentist. It may need a root canal (where they remove the root causing the pain and cover the tooth with a cap)
Reply:the same thing actually happened to me. you go to the dentist and ask him to take care of it. and if that doesn't work theres a trick my teacher did pinch yourself on the arm so you concentrate on that but try the dentist.
Reply:My mother broke one of her teeth and the roots were exposed, it was causing her massive pain. She took some soft wax (from a candle, after it cooled) and put it over that tooth. It covered the nerves and the pain was gone so that she was able to manage until she went to the dentist again. Good luck.
Reply:No - only a root canal will stop the pain. You need to see a dentists ASAP, and stop taking Tylenol 3, as it is highly addictive.

A large piece of one of my front teeth broke off while eating chops last night. Any quick fixes till Monday?
go see your dentist today you retard!
A large piece of one of my front teeth broke off while eating chops last night. Any quick fixes till Monday?
go to the dentist !!!
and get it done !
or have him rip it out and put in
a implant !!!
good luck !!!
Reply:go to walmart they have something there i dont remember what it is called though.
Reply:Two similar ideas. Go to a pharmacy and buy something to fix the tooth yourself or perhaps with the help of someone you know. Consider gluing it on again.
Otherwise, get filling paste and put in a very small filling, much smaller than seems to be needed. In my opinion, this will be much more likely to stay in than afilling of a size which seems appropriate.
Reply:That is definately an emergency see your dentist and if you dont have a regular dentist ask friends who they would see if your tooth broke and its been a long time you need all of them checked but definately get that one taken care of now
Reply:Put it in cold milk and bring it to the dentist immediatly

Tooth extraction - chances of teeth shifting??
I broke my tooth a few weeks back (it is the very last one on my top right side). I went to the dentist who said I can have a root canal and get a filling, and eventually a crown if I choose, or have the tooth extracted. I currently do not have dental insurance, and will not have it until February. The root canal and filling will cost me a lot more than the extraction, but I'm concerned that if I get my tooth pulled, my other teeth will shift, causing a gap in my teeth. Has anyone had a tooth pulled on the top of their mouth and had their teeth shift? I know keeping my teeth is the best option, but it's the very last one and will not be noticeable...but I do not want any gaps in my teeth either! What are the chances this will happen?? Thanks in advance.
Tooth extraction - chances of teeth shifting??
Yes over time your teeth will move. Any time you have a tooth pulled this will happen. The tooth below will move up until it has something to touch and the tooth in front of that will move as well. The dentist does not tell people to keep there teeth just because he wants to make more money. He is telling you this because it is the best thing to do to keep your teeth looking the way they are. I understand how hard it is when you don't have any insurance to cover anything but you should talk to your dental office about a payment plan so you don't have to get your tooth extracted. Most offices are willing to work with you. Good Luck with whatever you choose to have done.
Reply:To find out about impacted teeth, prophylactic wisdom tooth surgery, general tooth extraction (inlcuding adjacent tooth shifts), and dental implants in Australia, go to http://www.oceansurgical.com.au/
Reply:your teeth will definitely shift but not so much as to cause a gap.
from what you describe, it sounds like the extraction is your better bet.

I have a dream of my teeth breaking up and comming out but it is while i am sleeping .?
Yes. My mother, and grandmother have / had the same type of dream prior to the death of someone in the family.
On the other hand, depending on the actual content / plot of your dream, (and rethink this aspect) it could also mean fear of an embarassing situation / situations in your life.
Dreams, remember, due to their contextual, personal, and unique situational nature, have more than one interpretation / meaning. You must take stock of your personal situation, and try to find the interpretation that fits your particular, personal situation. More often than not, the dream is trying to inform you of something. You may need some time to figure out what it is, based on cues from your waking reality.
I have had dreams that portend things to come - usually within the following day, days, week, month, but usually no further than that... with certain recurring animal motifs / images, scenarios etc...
These have in many cases, been linked to events in my life and those close to me - family / friends...
I have a dream of my teeth breaking up and comming out but it is while i am sleeping .?
I dont mean to spook you out, but there is an old italian superstition that this means someone close is going to die. Don't take this as gospel but that's just what I heard.
Reply:no i heard if you lose your teeth in your sleep you're going to lose some friends
Reply:ya that's meant to be a really bad sign... every time I've had that dream someone I know has passed away! Seriously no kidding.. really freaky... maybe just coincidence???
Reply:no means of scaring you but it might mean loss or death of a relative.
Reply:it means a painful or rotten part of your feelings, life or relationships; also it signifies angry or regretful words
Reply:To dream that you have rotten or decaying teeth, forewarns that your health and/or business is in jeopardy. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.
To dream that you are brushing your teeth, signifies your level of confidence, struggles and aggressiveness. You need to look out for yourself and your own interest.

Does brushing your teeth break your fast ?
It will not break your fast unless you swallow the toothpaste.
However, without going so far to say that it is makrûh to use toothpaste while fasting, Sheik Ibn al-`Uthaymîn discourages it. He says:
There is nothing wrong with a fasting person using toothpaste, as long as it does not go down his gullet. However, it would be better to refrain from using it, simply because it has a strong tendency to go down a person’s throat while he is unaware.
For this reason, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Exaggerate in inhaling water (while performing ablutions) except when you are fasting.”
Therefore, it is better for a fasting person to refrain from using toothpaste. The matter is easy. If he simply waits until after he breaks his fast to brush his teeth with toothpaste, he will have avoided what might possibly nullify his fast.
And Allah knows best.
Does brushing your teeth break your fast ?
no why would it?
Reply:no because its not eating its just cleanliness
Reply:no
Reply:no! What kind of religion is this! Too hard for humanity to stick to. Take your faith seriously, yes. But don't be bound by it!!
Reply:It shouldn't the bible says that when you fast you should still take care of your appearance. Even if you swallow a few sips of water it is inadvertant and not going to "break" the fast.
Reply:Cleanliness is required by Islam. But if you are fasting you should take care not to swallow the toothpaste or water while brushing your teeth.
Some Muslims prefer to only brush with a plain toothbrush (no water or toothpaste) or a miswak while fasting.
Reply:No, you don't consume it.
BUT, some of those particles of plaque, a living element and possible source of food, gets disloged in your salava you have violated fasting!
But everyone knows they don't bath or brush their teeth anyway, so the question has no meaning!
Reply:No. Neither does taking necessary medication.

I have horrible teeth, fillings keep falling out, teeth breaking off, went to 3 dentists, too much money?
One suggested dentures and treated me like a crack addict, the other wanted $12,000--no way I can ever come up with that, the other said to get certain ones pulled and then he'd see me and give me a price. I obviously have no money, not asking for any, but are there any agencies or cheap dental plans anywhere? I don't qualify for medicaid.

I do understand your problem .. I'm 53 without medical and dental insurance, middle class but unable to afford the rates they charge. three years ago my teeth started breaking....even the ones with crowns on, I have 13 teeth left, 7 of which have crowns. For a temporary solution till I could save up the money to get my partials I bought the imako shell to cover up my problem (search the internet for imako 49.95 upper plate only) these worked great at least they allowed me to go out in public without that crack addict feeling ...worked so great I wore them for two years till my lower teeth started breaking so I spent 495.00 for a partial for the uppers with 4 missing teeth and Gasp 853.00 for a lower plate with 7 teeth - I did my research to find an affordable dental clinic with their lab on the property ,within 2 weeks I had my smile back ...for three years I fooled all my co-workers
with the Imako shell, at times they made toothless hillbilly jokes about customers that would come into the store not even noticing the dental train wreck I was sporting. My partials fit perfectly and they are more comfortable in my mouth than without (right from the start) over my lifetime an easy 60,000.00 was spent on keeping that perfect smile , dentist visits at least 4 times a year from the age of 12 , but alas I am a victim of genetics (my sister lost all her teeth by the age of 23) plus the fact I love soda (coke) and cigarettes and had no intention of quitting either.
So: I've read some good advice here and some feedback from jerks ...overlook them ...it will catch up to them someday too. But yes do check out the Imaka shell it molds to your mouth the teeth soften with hot water (thermal plastics) and you can do your own fitting and they can be redone over and over till you get the right fit you want. it will give you that perfect set of teeth look till you can afford to get the more expensive work done, I even ordered the extra white teeth plastic and constructed some temp flippers for my lower teeth ....tricky but it can be done - you will feel better about yourself and after all that is what it is all about. I hope someday this country will have health care and Dental for all it's people not just the very poor and the very rich - or at the very least we could all move to Canada.

If there is no way you can ever come up with that kind of money, why would you expect any dentist to work on you. Do you expect them to work for free?

Reply:Look into the dental schools in your area. They will still charge you but it will be cheaper than going to a private office. The dental students will be the ones working on you under the supervision of a dentist. Good Luck and I hope that you get the help you need soon.

If my retainer for my teeth broke, how long will it be until my teeth move?
-Im 14 years old
-I just got my braces off a few days ago
-My orthodontist recommended i wear it 24/7, but said if i missed a few hours or a day it wasnt a big deal.
If my retainer for my teeth broke, how long will it be until my teeth move?
They can move right away, overnight even, but just little by little. Retainers only take one day to make. Just bring your molds in the morning and they should be done by the end of the day. This has happened to me before.

Do bones, teeth break down after a long period of time ?
I thought they did not..any expert about that ? Thank you for your responses and enlightening me.
Do bones, teeth break down after a long period of time ?
Hi Toto thanks for the email. I did a bit of looking around, and the answer to your question is that it depends whether it has been fossilized or not.
If the skeleton becomes fossilized, it is protected from further breakdown and decay. If it doesn't (e.g. the skeleton was in a location of high soil acidity, or a place of high bacteria) then the bone will eventually rot away. Hence why dinosaur hunters look for 'fossils' and not skeletons.
Hope this helps.

Teeth and bones do not break down on their own even after several years after the person has died.

Why our teeth breaks?
Infection, calcium deficiency in food %26amp; ageing. In many countries everybody above 40 compulsorily takes some fixed dose of calcium %26amp; calcium tablets are lying on working table. Taking sufficient milk daily does not pose this problem.

If u want to stop enamel loss , then use Amway glister toothpaste %26amp; persona brush , both are available from any active amway distributor. if you are not finding any amway distributor please tell me %26amp; i will help you
Reply:When we are born we don't have teeth. Then they begin to grow. But they are known as milk teeth. They are not strong enough to grind hard particles. So at the age of five or six our teeth starts to break. Then in the place of the milk teeth the teeth which we have now grows. These are strong teeth that can easily gring hard particles. If we become old, again the teeth starts to break. But they never come again.

One of my front teeth broke...What choices do I have to just get that one tooth fixed?
Your options are;
1)filling
2)veneer
3)crown.
It depends on how large the break was and if you want it to be a filling that needs to be replaced every 10 or so years or something quite solid and very aesthetic like a veneer. It is always hard to get the shade of one individual restoration to match the other teeth, but it can be done, especially with a visit to the lab technician who will be doing the veneer or crown.
One of my front teeth broke...What choices do I have to just get that one tooth fixed?
Depends on the break. If it's small they can just build it up. Larger you may need a crown. If you older and it's bad you may want to have it pinned and replaced.
Reply:they can add artificial tooth onto it, and it looks just like a normal tooth, and its for individual teeth, if thats what ur asking.
Reply:If you have the both parts you can get some Gorilla Glue and fix it your self. Just remember when your eating with your front teeth not to bite hard things ...One of my front teeth did the same as yours It work for me , 4 years now.

I dreamed that I was messing with my teeth and that my tooth broke in half? What does it mean?
I was messing with my tooth with like a toothpick and my bottom left front tooth cracked in half, I told my mom and she grabed my tooth and bend it so it would brake. My tooth was in half and my smile was weird. Then I noticed that my other tooth was craked too. What does my dream mean?

I want braces but I have 3 root canals on my front teeth and large fillings?
can you still get braces or will the teeth break
I want braces but I have 3 root canals on my front teeth and large fillings?
yeah you can get braces
Reply:well i do know they have those new Invisalign braces that just go over your teeth, they dont attach to the teeth, they are more like a removeable mold so i know that would work as far as conventional braces i cannot answer that, you may need to see an orthodontist so he can look at your teeth and see if it is possible. good luck!
Reply:Not a problem at all. These teeth are more fragile than teeth that haven't had root canals but that doesn't rule them out for braces. You have to understand though, that these teeth can chip at any time....not just because of the braces.

How do you remove dental glue from the back of your teeth?
The permanent wire on the back of my bottom teeth broke off on one side. I removed as much of the wire as I could, but now I have a sharp end slicing into my tongue. How do I remove the glue so I can get rid of the rest of the wire?

If this is from a dentist not off the store shelf, then a tooth pick will do it but sometimes it takes working at it. Dont end up hurting yourself, give it time if it is stubborn.

My brothers both have no money and have cavities or need root canals in most of their teeth. What do I do?
They didn't really take care of their teeth for years, both are in lots of pain and have teeth breaking left and right. They need root canals or cavities filled in almost every tooth in both of their mouths, but don't have money and I can't afford to help them. They live in the Nashville, TN area.
Our parents are deceased and didn't have any money anyway.
One brother works but earns $7 an hour, one is on disability and has no income. They are 25 and 26 years old.
Is there anywhere I can take them that will help for free or almost no cost with all of these problems?
Please help, I am so desperate.
My brothers both have no money and have cavities or need root canals in most of their teeth. What do I do?
I would contact my local Health Department or Welfare office, if there are any "free" (fees based on income) clinics in your area, they should know. You could also contact the State Dental Board. As for going to a dental school, it will be cheapER.. .not cheap and not free and you still would most likely be looking at extractions. If the teeth are that badly damaged/decayed and the infection is chronic, a root canal may not save the tooth. If you have a root canal, you need a crown on the tooth as well or you will still loose it as these teeth are brittle and will break. If a tooth has filling that is over 40% of the visual surface, it needs AT LEAST a crown..in private practice this (root canal and crown) is 1500-2000 per tooth depending on fees in your area. If your one brother is disabled, does he qualify for Medicaid?? In some states it will at least pay for the emergency care and extractions.
It is imperative that you know: Dental infections can cause brain abscessed and systemic infections and in some cases death. If facial swelling is present (cellulitis) they need emergency treatment now. The hospitals always seem to give a script for Penicillin, this is usually not strong enough. They need Augmentin 500 or 875. NEVER use heat on a dental infection,,, it will spread. Ice only.
GOOD LUCK
Reply:no there is no place to take them for free... and the cost of dental work is not cheap. the only thing you can do is take them and have it done and try to work out the payment with the dentist, ask him if your brothers can pay a little at a time. most dentists won't but it's worth a try. good luck.
Reply:Contact a dental school that is near you. The students always need patients to work on. Often times the fee is minimal or free.
Reply:It won't be free, but it will be cheap. Tell them to go by the school and get an initial exam.

I had an extremely realistic dream about my teeth shattering...?
I had a bit too much caffine yesterday evening, and had very vivid and terrible dreams. The one that kept coming back was that my molars were exploding into shrapnel when they came into contact with anything, and my mouth was full of white bits I kept spitting out. It hurt so much, and I was horrified because it was night time and I knew I wouldn't be able to find a dentist quickly. What does a dream about teeth breaking mean?

Reply:Breaking of the teeth means that you are really stressed out in life. I have researched this dream many times. Relive the stress in your life and you will never have a bad teeth dream again. Good luck!
Reply:You are pushing to hard
at work or in a relationship.
Reply:Cut off your nose to spite your face. You worry to much about your appearance.

Reply:ahhhh! i hate those dreams! they feel so real! in my family they say that if you dream about your teeth falling out it means someone is going to die. but as far as i know, nobody has died due to my teeth dreams =)
Reply:do you have good dental habits? if not you should start. That's my guess. see a doctor that deals with dream interpretation and a dentist
also cut back on the caffine
Reply:If you have a dream that your tooth is falling out that means that somebody you know will die. If you see the blood with that tooth, it means that it's going to be a relative.I don't want to scare you, but its 100% true.
If the teeth were bracking it might mean that somebody from your family is sick, or will get seriously sick.
(I really hope not!!!)
Reply:well... it doesn't really mean anything except that maybe you have a habit of grinding your teeth at night. you should go to a doctors and have them film you while you sleep to see if this is true...
Reply:Wow, that's pretty graphic....did you have a fight with someone recently, or say harsh things that you now regret? It sounds like you are choking on some rather explosive words.....Or maybe even holding back what you would really like to say, knowing it would be hurtful, and in your dream you are trying to tell yourself you need to "spit it out"(dreams often use puns as a form of shorthand).... Tooth dreams are very common, and I often see it posted here that they are about concerns about your appearance.... watching your words is also a concern about how you appear to others as well..... tooth dreams have many other meanings as well, depending on the story line....
Reply:Your dream about shattering teeth may be an unconcious feeling that you are not as attractive to others as you want to be. It can also be an indication of powerlessness or helplessness. Dreams of being embarrassed in public or naked are similar in that you experience a sense of powerlessness and vulnerability. This may be a sign that you feel lacking in power in some relationship in your life, or are intimidated by someone or some situation,an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.
Reply:I always thought that dreams about your teeth falling out meant that you were self-concious about your appearance in some way.

How strong are tiger sharks teeth?
does a tiger shark teeth break though bone, metal . aluminum, wood
How strong are tiger sharks teeth?
Pretty strong. The teeth of these sharks can penetrate the shell of a sea turtle. Shark teeth themselves do break off but are quickly replaced. The sharks effective bite comes from not only the teeth but the trashing of its head from side to side and the speed at which its traveling before it actually bites its prey. And yes it could penetrate bone, wood and aluminum but I can't sure about metal. Just look at my user name, who better to ask right?jk
Reply:Any time :-) Report It
Reply:Pretty strong. I lost both my legs and arms, lol.
Reply:They are very strong if they can bite human limbs off. The cool thing about sharks is if they lose a tooth, it is replaced right away since they have multiple rows of teeth, much more than humans.

I am recovering from substance abuse and 4 teeth feel out and gums bleed and receeding on all teeth...help!!?
i am so embarrassed but i know i have to take care of it ..ive been told from friends that it looks like i have 3 current abcesses, due to bad infection smell, and gums swollen where two teeth broke halfway off and fell out, but not only am i so embarrased , i cannot smile at all, and that is emotionally painful too...im almost out of self esteem completely..so so scared, (petrified of dental visits)!!!! but most importantly, no insurance or job for dental care. ..i dont know where to turn. please help me...please
I am recovering from substance abuse and 4 teeth feel out and gums bleed and receeding on all teeth...help!!?
The only way to fix the problem is going to the dentist.
Dont be scared everything will turn out ok.
Good Luck
Reply:You need to see the dentist. If you live in the US there are programs that can assist you. Call a local dentist, explain the situation and most if not all will come up with some way for you to be able to afford what you need. Yes, it seems that all 'medico's' are in it for the money, but most are really in their professions because they care about people
Congratulations on getting clean (sounds like a heroin habit?? Xtra congrats if so, that's so hard to quit!) and good luck! HTH
Reply:Ask your Goverment for help!
And dont forget that the dentist can put you to sleep to fix your teeth. Thats the only way I will let them touch my mouth too!
Tell them to put you to sleep.
GOOD LUCK with EVERTHING!!!!!
Reply:Ask your local health department or an addiction clinic. Abcesses can make you very sick. Get them taken care of, no matter what, and you'll be feeling lots better.
Reply:go to a rehab center and stop the substance abuse and take vitamins and u will be better...otherwise all your teeth and hair will fall out
Reply:Agree with other answerers, look for government assistance search for federal, state, county and local programs. You will most likely find one or another. As Far as your dentist phobia drugging (even by an anesthesiologist for a medical procedure) does not sound like a wise idea for a person attempting to stay clean. Sounds more like a methamphetamine habit to me though, so maybe an opiate would not trigger a craving.
Just remember that it will be much, much, much more painful if you don't go.
Congratulations on kicking the habit and good luck on staying sober!
Reply:If your mouth is badly infected, you can go to the emergency ward at the hospital, infections from abscessed teeth can spread to your jaw and you could lose more teeth. I have had an abscessed tooth. The Dentist will have to put you on antibiotics to get rid of the infection before he will do anything else. You may need to go to the hospital if the abscess requires draining

What is the best way to conserve teeth which have fallen from your gums/mouth ?!?
lmao yeah okay, I do collect my teeth, I'm wierd and crazy so what?
The other day 4 teeth broke out of 12 :'(
I want them as a memory can you help me please.
What is the best way to conserve teeth which have fallen from your gums/mouth ?!?
you can't have them put back in ur mouth after and hour umm but them in saoulution of half bleach and half water that keeps steral but otherwise tooth implants YOU CANT PUT THEM BACK IN!!!!!!!REALLY!not well at least after an hour they are pretty much dead for good!
Reply:Uh...Hm...Rub them in alcohol, then keep them surrounded by cotton? I think that's whar my dentist did.
Reply:I've always been told you can store them in milk, if you're going to have them replaced in your mouth... but if not call your local hardware store and ask them if they have a clear spray paint that works on enamel, that should do the trick.
Reply:KEEP IT IN THE FREEZER.
Reply:Put them in a box then decorate it.

Will my dentist think I don't take care of my teeth?
Okay, first off, I am twenty years old. During my childhood, I had lousy dental care, and in middle school my dentist was a quack. He gave me a root canal and never filled it so part of my tooth broke off and it's hollow! Not only that, I have 2 visible cavities and my wisdom teeth are coming in!
I'll admit that in elementary school I didn't take care of my teeth the best that I should, but once I got to middle school, I tried really well, and started brushing 2 or my times a day once I turned fourteen.
I don't eat a lot of sugar, I'm vegetarian, and only drink water (I NEVER drink soda). I think I just have week anamel(?) or something.
I'm going to the dentist soon, and I'm worried that he/she will scold me and accuse me of not taking care of my teeth when I do. I guess it's my fear of dentists that's getting to me, and I haven't been since I was about thirteen...
Any ways to overcome this fear?
Will my dentist think I don't take care of my teeth?
I was actually in that same situation.
I was afraid to go to the dentist, I only went when I had a severe toothache.
By the time I finally ended up going to the dentist I was so embarrassed. I think after awhile that's what kept me from going. I ended getting two root canals and 3 teeth removed AND braces.
It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, the dentist actually told me "You're getting it taken care of now, so don't worry." That's the part that matters....
Good Luck!!!
Reply:they will understand your fear, its been a long time scince you have been, but at least you are going.
Reply:The only way to get over your fear is to go and face it. It wont be as bad as you remember as a kid! Most dentists are really good at dealing with nervous patients, and will have seen far far worse teeth than yours.
You are paying for the dentist so there is no reason to worry about him scolding you. Just tell him the truth, if he make you feel uncomfortable, take your money somewhere else.
Reply:When I was in college, I went about 5 between visits to the dentist. Then, I decided it was time to go. I was nervous too. Nervous about what he'd have to do for my teeth, nervous about getting yelled at for not coming the dentist in a long time. But, my dentist was really cool. I think they understand that going to the dentist isn't most people's priority. Especially if they're poor or have bad teeth. For me, I was a poor college student and paying a lot of money for a painful experience didn't sound good to me.
I guess my advice is take that first step. It's the hardest but once you're there and find out what needs to be done, you'll feel much better. Plus, dentists see all kinds of problems and people much worse than you.
The one person who did kinda ***** at me was the hygienist. But, it was just to make sure I'd come back more often which I've done.
Reply:Don't worry about that. Ask around and get the names of dentists from people you know. Call the office and speak to them. The front desk people are the "window" into an office. If they are accommodating and kind, you can bet so is the doctor and staff. I'm a hygienist and see people like you often. I don't scold, yell, or intimidate. I help, recommend treatment and teach. If a provider yells at you; you should leave!!!!!

My 4 month puppy has a broken canine tooth, and it's turning black now. Should i see the vet?
Her canine teeth have not been replaced yet
My 4 month puppy has a broken canine tooth, and it's turning black now. Should i see the vet?
yes
Reply:yes. it could be an infection that might go deeper into the gums.
Reply:yes
Reply:I would at least call and tell the vet what happened. It could be nothing, and you will save yourself a trip, or it could be something that needs medical attention, like an infection. Hope everything is okay with her!
Reply:Duh yeah
Reply:If this is a puppy tooth and not an adult tooth as you indicated, then it will need to be pulled by the vet or you if it is loose.
When they turn black the tooth is dying (nerve loss or lack of blood supply), therefore remove it to keep infection out and it may be hard to shed when the adult tooth tries to push through.
I would recommend a Vet in this case.
Reply:yes if it goes too far into the tooth it can be very painful to the puppy - go get it checked out and see what the vet recommends - mt may have to be removed
Reply:yes you should go to the vet that might be be the puppy may die if you don't take it to the vet.go tommorow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:Hopefully, she's eating okay. She's young so, it may just be a baby tooth.
I'd call my vet and ask for advice. If they think you should go in, then go. If it's a baby tooth and she isn't in pain and is eating okay...they may just tell you to wait for it to fall out.
Reply:No, but I think your dog should.
Reply:Yes, puppies immune systems are not built up all the way and, if you had a black tooth would you be worried? I hope so
Reply:Yes even through it is a baby tooth it could get infection and make her really sick and cause her a lot of pain

Do puppies lose there baby teeth like humans?
I gave my puppy a bone and his tooth broke wondering if he will get adult teeth eventually
Do puppies lose there baby teeth like humans?
Yes they do. Sometimes you will find them around the house and where they sleep. Mostly the dogs loose their teeth while crunching on their dog food and swallow them down.
Don't worry you didn't break your dog with that bone. Before you know it the new one will have replaced it.
I hope this helps good luck!
Reply:yup..dont worry

Reply:yes, I have found them on the floor. Make sure puppy has chew toys. Have fun!
Reply:Yes they do. They cut molars like us too.
Reply:he shure will.make shure he has plenty to chew on
Reply:Yes, they lose baby teeth. But, you should still have the dog checked out in case this was an adult tooth or in case there is something else going on.
Reply:Yes they do. Puppies will eventually loose their baby teeth and the permanent teeth will appear. Most of the dogs swallow their baby teeth when they are eating.
Reply:Yes they do loose their baby teeth... the teeth are of course smaller and softer. Did his tooth break or did he just loose it? Shouldnt have broke just from teething though.
Reply:Yep. I think all mammals do.
Reply:Yes, of course, would you think they keep the same little teeth all thier long lives? no, no.
All mammals loose 'baby teeth' and get adult teeth to last them a long time;
if they only had their little baby teeth in long life, larger animals such as tigers or others the like, would die, as you see, when the teeth break as they try to cut into larger food/ carcuses. your youthful friend is like and will be fine.
Reply:yup they do, I do belive it is about age 4-6 months! But yes they do lose their teeth!
Reply:Yes. This also means they teethe like babies. Make sure he has plenty to chew on, or it will be your furniture. This stage can last months.
Reply:yes, all puppy lose there teeth like humans. sometimes you will not see them lose there teeth. we found 1 tooth from my dog and he has all of his adult teeth. we think they swallow them or eat them.
Reply:Yes, I have a miniature pinscher, and I found several on the floor when she was a puppy. Give your puppy lots of chew toys, I even bought her one of those teething rings for babys and she loved it. One of her baby canine teeth did not fall out and her adult tooth came in, so she had a double row with one tooth, but the vet removed it when she got spayed and microchiped.
Reply:Yes. Don't worry about baby teeth; just wear long sleeves until he gets his adult teeth, and don't let him grab your hair. I wouldn't discipline a puppy for chewing on you while he has baby teeth. They do it to their mothers too. But if he growls and bites, you'd better show him who's the alpha member of the pack.

Is it normal for babies to grind their teeth?
My 9 month old son just had his fourth tooth break the gum, and he has his bottom two out all the way and the top tooth is halfway out, and I constantly hear him grinding them together loudly for the last day or so. Is this BAD? I mean, it's skin-crawlingly irritating, but I was wondering if it is actually bad for his tiny baby teeth. And is there anything I can do about it?

I think its normal my 3 did it so did my nieces, i don't think there is anything you can do about it. Its just one more new thing your baby can do. Just GRIT your teeth and wait for the phase to pass
Reply:yes my sis grinded her teeth so far down she didnt have one!!
Reply:My daughter does it too sometimes. I think it's normal. Try giving him something to chew on instead. I read somewhere that it isn't bad unless they do it in their sleep. If that happens, then I would talk to a dentist about it.
Reply:yes- makes my skin crawl too!!
Reply:I think it's normal... the baby is not used to the feeling of the teeth in his mouth and the experience of rubbing them together is novel to him... as the rest of his teeth grow in he will probably stop... if it seems really excessive... call the doctor just to check.
good luck

Reply:yes its normal, but its not good for the teeth, since ur child is only 9 months its fine, but its bad for people who have mature teeth.
Reply:It drove me CRAZY to listen to, but our pediatrician said that tooth grinding is normal. She said it might be kids getting used to the feeling of teeth? And she promised it would pass, which it did.
She said it won't hurt their teeth.
Reply:its totally normal, he is just exploring the new "things" he has in his mouth. my daughter did the same thing, it used to make me cringe. your son will grow out of it soon
Reply:Most babies go through this phase. They're just fascinated with a new experience and thest strange things in their mouths. She will stop eventually. It can't hurt their teeth, they're good and strong. My son did if for about a month.

Broken jaw and wisdom tooth?
I have to wisdom teeth laying head to head beneath my gum. Dentist said in order for him to remove them he will have to break my jaw and pull out one of my molars to ge to them. How long does one take to recover from a broken jaw? Can you talk and eat?
Broken jaw and wisdom tooth?
um... I would say maybe like 3-5 weeks. You can eat only soft foods. It is verrrrry hard for you to talk!
Reply:I had an osteotomy when I was 16. They cut the upper out, slid it forward, and cut pieces out of the lower, to correct an underbite. It took about 6 weeks to heal. My mouth was wired shut, and I had to eat blender food. It's not that bad, since they sent me home with a bottle of liquid codeine. And you can make some pretty good blender food, with a little creativity!
Reply:I would get a 2nd opinion for the broken jaw thing.
get as much info as you can before doing this, there are alot of after the procedure things that can happen.

How do I stop my 14 month son from gringing his teeth?
My 14 month old son has two top teeth and one bottom tooth, with another tooth breaking the gum on the bottom. I noticed the other day that he is starting to grind his teeth. How do I get him to stop doing this? It gets rather annoying some times.
Oh yeah he started getting his teeth about 3 weeks ago. (yes he was a late bloomer in this one area)

Can you whiten your teeth if you have a porcelain crown?
My front tooth broke in half, and my dentist is going to be putting a crown on it... will I still be able to whiten my teeth?
Can you whiten your teeth if you have a porcelain crown?
When I am doing crowns for my patients I like for them to do some whitening before I shade match for the crown.
1) because most people eat things that stain their teeth (cola, wine, coffee, etc) and a few weeks of whitening with a custom tray can remove these stains so the crown shade can be accurately matched to tooth shade.
2) Crowns do not whiten to a shade lighter than when they were fabricated. So, if the dentist makes a crown for you to match your existing teeth and you want to whiten your teeth, the crown will end up looking darker than your teeth (after you whiten the teeth).
If your tooth is broken now and you do not want to wait a few weeks to let the whitening work, have your dentist either use tooth-colored filling material to build your broken tooth and make it look good or have your dentist make a temporary acrylic or composite crown for you until the shade for your permanent restoration can be taken.
Good luck!
Reply:You will still be able to get your teeth whitened at the dentist, however you will not be able to use at home products such as Crest White strips. At home products won't harm the crown, but they will not be able to whiten it.
Reply:some crowns are colored to fit your present teeth the only other way is to change the crown.
Reply:You'll be able to whiten your teeth, but not the crown. Whiten your teeth first and have the dentist match the crown color to the whitened teeth.
Reply:you can whiten your teeth. if you are sure...go ahead and get your crown the color that you teeth will be. i chose an off white.
realistically, teeth are not bright white and look harsh. mine are natural looking.
hey, answer my question about health. thanks

Wisdom Teeth...?
Im experiencing ALOT of pain with one of my wisdom teeth breaking through. My cheek and my gum has been swollen for about 5 days now and i can feel a little lump on the edge of my gum. I've also noticed a really bad taste in my mouth.
I've not been able to eat anything but soup as it hurts to eat. It even hurts to smile because of my cheek.
Do you think i should get it removed? Is it normal to experience this?? and also do they impact on flying as i am travelling around at the moment and am scared to fly incase it causes more problems...
thanks for your help...
Wisdom Teeth...?
Talk to your dentist immediatlely. He/She maybe able to prescribe something for your pain. Depending on your discomfort they may want to you to have them removed (probably not a bad idead any way). Not sure on the flying, but the different air pressure may cause more added pressure on you teeth.
Reply:I would see a dentist or orthodontist to see if it needs to be removed, often they remove them because it will cause the rest of your teeth to become crooked. It will hurt while it comes in, just like teething in babies.
Reply:Wisdom teeth are a valuable asset to the mouth when they are healthy and properly positioned. Often, however, problems develop that require their removal. When the jaw isn't large enough to accommodate wisdom teeth, they can become impacted (unable to come in or misaligned). Wisdom teeth may grow sideways, emerge only part way from the gum or remain trapped beneath the gum and bone.
Extraction of wisdom teeth is generally recommended when:
* Wisdom teeth only partially erupt. This leaves an opening for bacteria to enter around the tooth and cause an infection. Pain, swelling, jaw stiffness and general illness can result.
* There is a chance that poorly aligned wisdom teeth will damage adjacent teeth.
* A cyst (fluid-filled sac) forms, destroying surrounding structures such as bone or tooth roots.
Patients should ask the dentist about the health and positioning of their wisdom teeth. The dentist may make a recommendation for removal or send the patient to an oral surgeon for further evaluation.
Reply:YOU SHOULD CONSULT WITH A GENERAL DENTIST AND HE WILL REFER YOU TO AN ORAL SURGEON. THE BAD TASTE AND PAIN IS POSSIBLE INFECTION. IT'S NORMAL TO EXPERIENE THIS WHEN THEY SHOULD BE REMOVED. DO NOT! LET A GENERAL DENTIST REMOVE THEM AND MAKE SURE YOU DO GET AN ANTIBIOTIC! SOMETIMES AN ORAL SURGEON WILL REQUIRE YOU TO TAKE AN ANTIBIOTIC PRIOR TO REMOVAL. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

What do to to keep my teeth strong?
My teeth keep rotting in my mouth. One tooth broke even more today. The dentist wants to pull two of them cause they are so bad. I brush, floss and rinse. What can I do? I don't wanna loose all my teeth. I am only 24 y/o.
What do to to keep my teeth strong?
Brushing flossing, no sugar, calcium pills and fluoride rinses and toothpaste. There is a special toothpaste that is prescribed called prevident. That makes teeth stronger. Fluoride also makes tiny cavities go away. Teeth heal themselves in the presence of fluoride. If your teeth are so bad as to extract the above wont help them.
Also stay away from soda
Reply:Do you get enough calcium? Is your overall diet bad?
Reply:CALCIUM and lots of brushing with fluride toothpaste.
Reply:I've been told a few things, Mostly laying off the sweets, and if you must eat some, eat it during a meal when your saliva is flowing. Drinking lots of milk is another must, the more calcium the better.
Reply:go to the dentist.
Reply:Brush ur teeth twice a day, drink milk, floss ur teeth, visit ur dentist n quit drinking COCA COLA..... NO sweet products... eat more Fruits n Vege... Be Vegetarian...
Reply:Ask your pharmacist the correct dosage for Calcium tablets. Avoid sugar. Brush, floss and rinse your mouth out with a mouth wash. Swish the mouth wash in your mouth for one minute in the morning and night. You may, unfortunately, have poor "toothie genes" but all of the above steps could help you. You may be deficient in Calcium.
Reply:calcium
brush teeth after every meals with flouride toothpaste
floss
visit the dentist once every six months
avoiid acidic food
Reply:Many drugs, like methamphetamine, cause you to lose teeth. So does smoking. If you use drugs, quit. There are many diseases that cause your condition as well. Talk to your dentist about it. You may need to go to a prescription tooth care system like PerioMed. Also, drink beverages through a straw, and stick to sugarless beverages. Eat raw vegetables. Also, add a calcium supplement and vitamin C supplements to your diet. Most of all, talk to your doctor or dentist about the problem.
Reply:Drink MILK!! GET YOUR CALCIUM TAKE TABLETS OR SOMETHING!
I'm really sorry, if this doesn't work and you get to sic of it you can always get dentures
Reply:Intake more calcium and try using a flouride rinse.
Anti-bacterial rinses don't make your teeth stronger.
I use Act flouride rinse. Here is their website

What can I do about my teeth?
Last month half of my tooth broke off as I unknowingly bit into a popcorn kernal. I spoke with the nurse from the dentist office and she told me to have it crowned would be about $800.00 and pulled about $175.00. The thing is I've already had 4 other teeth pulled but there's no way i can afford $800.00 for the crown. I would like to keep the rest of my teeth. Anyone got any suggestions. (The reason I didnt go to a dentist before was because there was no pain, it barely just started hurting.)
What can I do about my teeth?
no no and no. they just want your money. i broke a tooth and got a permanent cap and it wasnt that much and has lasted me about 11 years. ive been doing some interested reading about enamel and all that. ill post the link. follow the directions and you can probably recalcify the broken part (granted i dont know how badly broken it is) and you wont need it pulled. it the nerves were exposed it would hurt immediately upon inahling (mine did) your is probably brusied or something. Good luck!!
http://www.yourreturn.org/Treatments/Tee...
i reccommend a cap, definately not extraction. get a second opinion.
Reply:Try ur local Universities, they usually charge u less.
Reply:If you broke half of the tooth it probably needs root canal therapy and then a porcelain crown. MORE MONEY!!!
If you do not want it pulled, at least see if you do need the root canal. If you do and you can afford it, get it done. If you do and you cannot afford it, you must get it pulled before the infection gets too severe. An upper arch infection can perforate the sinus wall and be fatal. A lower arch infection can eat the bone away from the roots of several teeth causing the loss of several teeth, AND, it can make the jaw susceptible to fracture.
If you have the root canal done and cannot afford a crown, have the dentist fill it with the strongest material she has but have her make the tooth a bit smaller than the teeth next to it. This allows the teeth next to it to take the brunt of your biting and chewing action so that the tooth does not break. Down the road, if you come up with some extra money, you can still have a crown. COOL?

Help! i'm really sick after having 2 teeth pulled 3 days ago?
i had my 2 back lower teeth (not wisdom, that has been gone for years) pulled on wednesday afternoon. i had a sedation pill and laughing gas. both teeth broke and they had to drill the remaining bone matter out and stitch me up. also one of the teeth had periodonic disease really bad. i felt numb the first day, kind of sick on thursday, but really sick on friday and now today saturday. my stomach hurts, chest pains, dizzyness, cant stand up to long before i have to lie back down. (NOTE: 3 months ago, i also had 2 teeth pulled on the other side, no periodonical in either of those teeth but i did have both sedation and laughing gas and i had no problems whatsoever).
also, both times they gave me the same antibiotics and the same paid med, which i had no problem with the first time either. does anybody have any sugggestions? my mouth doesnt really hurt, just the rest of my body. (i dont even want to go to the ER or a clinic because there is NO WAY i can sit and wait my turn that long.
Help! i'm really sick after having 2 teeth pulled 3 days ago?
call the dentist that performed the procedure. Usually if there is in infection in the tooth once it is pulled it should not be a problem anymore. It's hard to say exactly why your stomach hurts you could have swallowed some blood or tooth matter. Make sure you are eating and drinking plenty of fluids. If your tooth is still bleeding it could be draining in your stomach. Call your dental office they usually have someone on call on the weekends or some kind of emergency number to reach them at. If you can not get a hold of them go to the emergency room.
Reply:You may have an infection that the antibiotics are not dealing with. Your symptoms are severe. You need to be checked. Have someone drive you to the doctors or ER, right away!
Reply:There could be something really serious going on. I suggest go now to a ER etc.. Tell them it is a real emergency , sometimes the only time they will see you immediately is when you say you feel like you are going to pass out.I had to do that myself . I know they feel everyone who goes into an ER has an emergency but this is not true. BE VERY VERY PERSISTENT ABOUT BEING SEEN RIGHT AWAY. Good Luck .
Reply:This is because of the the pain medications. I just had my teeth pulled out too, and when i take my pain medications i feel sick, and dizzy.
It will wear off soon. they are just side affects. if it does not wear off in about a day, call your doctar asap. =]
good luck, and feel better!
