Broken jaw and wisdom tooth?

I have to wisdom teeth laying head to head beneath my gum. Dentist said in order for him to remove them he will have to break my jaw and pull out one of my molars to ge to them. How long does one take to recover from a broken jaw? Can you talk and eat?

Broken jaw and wisdom tooth?
um... I would say maybe like 3-5 weeks. You can eat only soft foods. It is verrrrry hard for you to talk!
Reply:I had an osteotomy when I was 16. They cut the upper out, slid it forward, and cut pieces out of the lower, to correct an underbite. It took about 6 weeks to heal. My mouth was wired shut, and I had to eat blender food. It's not that bad, since they sent me home with a bottle of liquid codeine. And you can make some pretty good blender food, with a little creativity!
Reply:I would get a 2nd opinion for the broken jaw thing.

get as much info as you can before doing this, there are alot of after the procedure things that can happen.
