Does brushing your teeth break your fast ?

It will not break your fast unless you swallow the toothpaste.

However, without going so far to say that it is makrûh to use toothpaste while fasting, Sheik Ibn al-`Uthaymîn discourages it. He says:

There is nothing wrong with a fasting person using toothpaste, as long as it does not go down his gullet. However, it would be better to refrain from using it, simply because it has a strong tendency to go down a person’s throat while he is unaware.

For this reason, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Exaggerate in inhaling water (while performing ablutions) except when you are fasting.”

Therefore, it is better for a fasting person to refrain from using toothpaste. The matter is easy. If he simply waits until after he breaks his fast to brush his teeth with toothpaste, he will have avoided what might possibly nullify his fast.

And Allah knows best.

Does brushing your teeth break your fast ?
no why would it?
Reply:no because its not eating its just cleanliness
Reply:no
Reply:no! What kind of religion is this! Too hard for humanity to stick to. Take your faith seriously, yes. But don't be bound by it!!
Reply:It shouldn't the bible says that when you fast you should still take care of your appearance. Even if you swallow a few sips of water it is inadvertant and not going to "break" the fast.
Reply:Cleanliness is required by Islam. But if you are fasting you should take care not to swallow the toothpaste or water while brushing your teeth.

Some Muslims prefer to only brush with a plain toothbrush (no water or toothpaste) or a miswak while fasting.
Reply:No, you don't consume it.

BUT, some of those particles of plaque, a living element and possible source of food, gets disloged in your salava you have violated fasting!

But everyone knows they don't bath or brush their teeth anyway, so the question has no meaning!
Reply:No. Neither does taking necessary medication.
