My 9 month old son just had his fourth tooth break the gum, and he has his bottom two out all the way and the top tooth is halfway out, and I constantly hear him grinding them together loudly for the last day or so. Is this BAD? I mean, it's skin-crawlingly irritating, but I was wondering if it is actually bad for his tiny baby teeth. And is there anything I can do about it?
Is it normal for babies to grind their teeth?
I think its normal my 3 did it so did my nieces, i don't think there is anything you can do about it. Its just one more new thing your baby can do. Just GRIT your teeth and wait for the phase to pass
Reply:yes my sis grinded her teeth so far down she didnt have one!!
Reply:My daughter does it too sometimes. I think it's normal. Try giving him something to chew on instead. I read somewhere that it isn't bad unless they do it in their sleep. If that happens, then I would talk to a dentist about it.
Reply:yes- makes my skin crawl too!!
Reply:I think it's normal... the baby is not used to the feeling of the teeth in his mouth and the experience of rubbing them together is novel to him... as the rest of his teeth grow in he will probably stop... if it seems really excessive... call the doctor just to check.
good luck

Reply:yes its normal, but its not good for the teeth, since ur child is only 9 months its fine, but its bad for people who have mature teeth.
Reply:It drove me CRAZY to listen to, but our pediatrician said that tooth grinding is normal. She said it might be kids getting used to the feeling of teeth? And she promised it would pass, which it did.
She said it won't hurt their teeth.
Reply:its totally normal, he is just exploring the new "things" he has in his mouth. my daughter did the same thing, it used to make me cringe. your son will grow out of it soon
Reply:Most babies go through this phase. They're just fascinated with a new experience and thest strange things in their mouths. She will stop eventually. It can't hurt their teeth, they're good and strong. My son did if for about a month.
