One of my front teeth has chipped. It looks bad and I can't get to the dentist because I am leaving town for a week. Any ideas or suggestions???? Thanks!

Reply:This happened to my classmate in elementary school. While I don't know about any over the counter temporary solutions, I do know that they let the chipped part soak in milk so that it's preserved or something. I thought it was weird, but that's what the principle said they did until they put it back on.

What happens to the root from an extracted baby tooth that is broken off and is still enbedded in the gums?

My daughter has her baby tooth pulled, and we saw the long roots.Which one of the roots was broken, and we assume it is still embedded in her gums. The teeth pulled were the left decidous first molar and the the left decidous cuspid.Should we worry?Thank you to all the dentists out there.

What happens to the root from an extracted baby tooth that is broken off and is still enbedded in the gums?
Generally there is no real concern if a baby tooth root is left in the gum.

Let's divide the answer into two:

(1) If the extracted tooth were infected, the shorter root may not be broken, but in fact be resorbing, or being eaten away, by the infection. If that is the case, better the tooth is out.

(2) If the extracted tooth were not infected, as the subsequent adult tooth erupts, it will eat up the root on the way out, or force it into an area where it can be removed easily.

Good luck, and congratulate your daughter because she must have been very brave to have that procedure done!
Reply:Some times a root will come out by itself, but it should at least be monitored with exrays. Probably will have to be extracted.
Reply:Not a dentist, but if it were my child, I would keep an eye on where the tooth was pulled to make sure it isn't infected. Any sign of infection and see the dentist immediately.
Reply:It will prob come out, dentist should re-check.
Reply:my son had the same thing happen. They pulled out his tooth and left some of the root in his gums. I brought him to a different dentist than the one who pulled it out and he said it would be fine, to check it periodically and see if it gets infected. The only problem he said it could cause is the other 2 teeth growing closer together cause theres no tooth there to seperate them but the chances of that arent that good. The only thing he was concerned about is that an infection occurs. Its been 2 months and the tooth is fine.

Aw. if my teeth are THIS bad, will i need dentures by the time im like, 21?

ok, i brush regularly, but i still have cavities. not just 1 or 2 cavities.. all my teeth but 2 have one or more fillings in them. my dental record is reaaaaaally long, and even with all those fillings, i STILL have cavities. i know for a fact that my dentist picks holes in my teeth to cause more cavities. ive looked at my teeth before i went to the dentist, and after i come back, i look again, and theres a hole in them that wasnt there before i went. AAAND even with my regular brushing and dental work, part of my damn back tooth broke X'(

um, help?

Aw. if my teeth are THIS bad, will i need dentures by the time im like, 21?
Cavities are primarily formed because of the frequent consumption of sugary or acidic foods. Even with excellent brushing cavities will occur if there is too much snacking on cariogenic (cavity causing) foods.

As for the picking holes in teeth you can't pick a hole in sound enamel - you'd need a drill which I think you'd notice.

If you perfect diet and oral hygiene then you can minimise future need for dental treatment although all dental restorations fail eventually and every time they are replaced more damage is caused to the underlying tooth.

If it comes to it, and it needn't, dentures aren't the end of the world. Try to keep as many of your own teeth for as long as possible.
Reply:Sound like you need to change dentist. drink more milk
Reply:Try brushing right after you eat or drink anything. Even when your at school or work just take a tooth brush with you and brush after your lunch. Do this everyday until your next checkup and I bet you won't have anymore cavities. I do this reguarly now and i get no problems..just a few wierd looks from people when I'm brushing at school lol. Meh screw them just do it. It works.
Reply:No matter how much you brush if you eat too much sugary or acidic foods you will get cavities.

Cut out those foods from your diet and always brush your teeth after eating dairy. You shouldn't let that stuff sit on your teeth.

Find a new dentist too.

Teeth whitening?
i use crest whiting strips...you only have to use them for 10 minutes a day!! but dont swallow it..it taste bad..
Reply:go to your dentist and they can whiten them or buy a teeth whitening kit. though it takes months to work it will probably be cheaper than going to your dentist.
Reply:scrub your teeth with mashed strawberries or baking soda. whiten teeth professionally at the dentist. :) brush brush brush!
Reply:Here are many ways that you can whitening your teeth!

For home remedies.

Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to form toothpaste. Brush the teeth regularly with this paste. It will remove all stains in a month.

Use bicarbonate of soda 5 minutes before brushing the teeth with normal toothpaste in the morning. This is a good home remedy for teeth whitening.

Rubbing the bark of walnut tree on the teeth helps in removing all stains from the teeth.

Strawberries are considered natural teeth whiteners. Rubbing the teeth with strawberries daily will remove all the stains.

If you would like a suggestion on tooth whitening gel, here's something for you!

Crest Night Effects Whitening Gel (about $18.00) allows you to remove stains while you sleep. The tooth whitening system has a fresh, wintergreen flavor. After fourteen days of sleeping with this product on your teeth, you will wake up to a vibrant smile. You should see results in two days, although there are reports of tooth whitening results in one night

About wisdom teeth (kind of complicated)?

When I was 16 I had a full mouth x-ray done for some dental pain, the source of the pain was never diagnosed. At that time however the dentist inspected my wisdom teeth.

I was told they had not yet begun to calcify and that they may never calcify as the process had not yet even started. I have only three wisdom teeth, two upper and one lower.

I was told that the upper ones were too high to erupt from the gums and that they were too high up (particularly in relation to my sinuses) to operate on. And that if I had any problems with them it was likely that I would suffer for the rest of my life as surgery would be too risky.

The lower wisdom tooth was growing into the root of the tooth beside it.

Yesterday one of my upper teeth broke through the gum (or at least I think it did yesterday, it could be that it happened earlier) but yesterday I could taste blood and things felt weird.

I have no dental insurance and no money. (Seriously no money)

Hill Burton Hotline

1-800-638-0742

(1-800-492-0359 in Maryland)

In 1946, Congress passed a law that gave hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities grants and loans for construction and modernization. In return, they agreed to provide a reasonable volume of services to persons unable to pay and to make their services available to all persons residing in the facility’s area. The program stopped providing funds in 1997, but about 300 health care facilities nationwide are still obligated to provide free or reduced-cost care.

Steps to Apply for Hill-Burton Free or reduced-cost Care

1. Find the Hill-Burton obligated facility nearest you from the list of Hill-Burton obligated facilities.

2. Go to the facility's admissions or business office and ask for a copy of the Hill-Burton Individual Notice. The Individual Notice will tell you what income level makes you eligible for free or reduced-cost care, what services might be covered, and exactly where in the facility to apply.

3. Go to the office listed in the Individual Notice and say you want to apply for Hill-Burton free or reduced-cost care. You may need to fill out a form.

4. Gather any other required documents (such as a pay stub to prove income eligibility) and take or send them to the obligated facility.

5. If you are asked to apply for Medicaid, Medicare, or some other financial assistance program, you must do so.

6. When you return the completed application, ask for a Determination of Eligibility. Check the Individual Notice to see how much time the facility has before it must tell you whether or not you will receive free or reduced-cost care.

More about Hill-Burton Free or Reduced-Cost Care

You are eligible to apply for Hill-Burton free care if your income is at or below the current HHS Poverty Guidelines. You may be eligible for Hill-Burton reduced-cost care if your income is as much as two times (triple for nursing home care) the HHS Poverty Guidelines.

Care at a Hill-Burton obligated facility is not automatically free or reduced-cost. You must apply at the admissions or business office at the obligated facility and be found eligible to receive free or reduced-cost care. You may apply before or after you receive care -- you may even apply after a bill has been sent to a collection agency.

Some Hill-Burton facilities may use different eligibility standards and procedures.

Hill-Burton facilities must post a sign in their admissions and business offices and emergency room that says: NOTICE - Medical Care for Those Who Cannot Afford to Pay, and they must provide you with a written Individual Notice that lists the types of services eligible for Hill-Burton free or reduced-cost care, what income level qualifies for free or reduced-cost care and how long the facility may take in determining an applicant's eligibility.

Only facility costs are covered, not your private doctors' bills. Facilities may require you to provide documentation that verifies your eligibility, such as proof of income.

Hill-Burton facilities must provide a specific amount of free or reduced cost care each year, but can stop once they have given that amount. Obligated facilities publish an Allocation Plan in the local newspaper each year. The Allocation Plan includes the income criteria and the types of services it intends to provide at no cost or below cost. It also specifies the amount of free or reduced cost services it will provide for the year.

When you apply for Hill-Burton care, the obligated facility must provide you with a written statement that tells you what free or reduced-cost care services you will get or why you have been denied.

The facility may deny your request if

· Your income is more than the income specified in the Allocation Plan.

· The facility has given out its required amount of free care as specified in its Allocation Plan.

· The services you requested or received are not covered in the facility's Allocation Plan.

· The services you requested or received are to be paid by a governmental program such as Medicare/Medicaid or insurance.

· The facility asked you to apply for Medicare/Medicaid or other governmental program, and you did not.

· You did not give the facility proof of your income, such as a pay stub.

You may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services if you believe you have been unfairly denied Hill-Burton free or reduced-cost care. Your complaint must be in writing and can be a letter that simply states the facts and dates concerning the complaint. You may call your local legal aid services for help in filing a complaint.

When you hve your baby (milk) teeth, are there more than one adult tooth lined up behind it?

I am 33 but I have 2 baby teeth still in my mouth. One of them has recently become wobbly. The adult teeth that were meant to come through when I was a child actually csme through the roof of my mouth and were removed. I am wondering if there is another adult tooth breaking through causing my tooth to wobble. The other baby tooth I have is fixed firm with no sign of a wobble. My husband said he read somewhere that you have more than one adult tooth lined up behind baby teeth, I have never heard this before. Any dentists out there??

When you hve your baby (milk) teeth, are there more than one adult tooth lined up behind it?
Because the roots on your baby (primary) teeth are short, they can become loose when your are an adult. Sometimes a primary tooth will stay placed well into your 40's, but it is unlikely that a primary tooth will stay in place for life.

If you had the permanent tooth removed when you were a child, then there will not be another tooth there to take the place of the primary tooth. However, to be sure, you should have an x-ray taken at your dentist's office. They will be able to determine your individual situation.

I'm not sure what your husband read, but you have 20 primary teeth and 32 permanent so it is correct to say that you have more than one adult tooth lined up behind the baby teeth. Here is some more information on that: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/a...

Hope this helps!
Reply:normally its only one tooth but my brother had a crushed set of teeth between milk teeth and adult teeth which had to be removed to let adult teeth through.
Reply:I was always under the impression there was only one set of adult teeth. The same sort of thing happened to me. I had an adult tooth come through while the baby tooth was still in place. It came through sort of next to it. Eventually the baby tooth fell out (it took ages though!!!) and I was lucky enough that the adult tooth sort of fell into the right position without a brace or anything. Ok, this doesn't help you much does it? Sorry!
Reply:More then likely you only have one set of premenant teeth. If the baby tooth is getting loose you need to talk to a dentist about your options. You can get a bridge which puts crown on the two teeth on each side of the one that is missing and then there is a fake tooth for the missing one and it is all connected. The other option is an implant. That is the better choice because then you don't have to mess with any other teeth. A bridge costs about 1000 depending on where you live. The whole implant procedure from implant to crown is about 2000 again depending where you live. But the implant will last 100% longer then a bridge. The life span of most bridges are about 10-15 years then there may be decay getting under them and then they would need to be replaced...Good Luck
Reply:No you only have one set of adult teeth.

I was 18 before i had to have my baby teeth pulled out as like you my adult teeth started to grow above my baby teeth on my gums! i had my baby teeth removed and some of my adult teeth and then got a brace so that now all my teeth are in line.

I dont get why the dentist left your baby teeth in... he should have removed them and X-rayed you to see if theres anymore adult teeth that have not yet come into place.

But no theres only one set of adult teeth your baby tooth was probably slightly loose anyway and doesn't really need another adult tooth to push it out. (but if its anything like mine even if its loose it wont fall out)
Reply:They are not baby teeth.
Reply:My eye teeth R still baby teeth I am 27......You only have one set of adults and if they pulled yours out you will just lose those baby teeth and have gaps. You can have a fake tooth screwed in. Mine are sitting up in my jaw sideways .. they saw them on an X-ray when I was 20. They said eventually the baby teeth will fall out or rot out because they have no root to hold them in like adult teeth do. Mine wiggle but thank god they havent fell out yet....GOOD LUCK SWEETY! If it falls out go get a fakey put in.

How much does it cost to get teeth pulled?

Does anyone know how much it might cost to get rotten and broken off teeth out of your mouth?

How much does it cost to get teeth pulled?
about twenty bucks if you have insurance and if not about 100 bucks.
Reply:all of them?? probably $100 per tooth.
Reply:Find a dental college near you. Often, they'll do it for 10 bucks, or even free, if you have trouble getting the money together.
Reply:Depends on the dentist. You can probably arrange some kind of payment plan if there's a lot to be done. Sounds like you've had very little dental care so far.
Reply:It depends on the tooth. If it is a molar you'll be spending more. Our dentist charges $125 or more per tooth.
Reply:It cost about $1,500 to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Insurance covered most of it though.

To much, if you don't have dental insurance. I had a severe tooth abscess that affected several teeth. Was referred to an oral surgeon and was charged cash in excess of 100.00 bucks per tooth. Scary, expensive, hope you have better luck and find a well qualified Doctor, that doesn't try to get his retirement funds from one person. LOL, not really funny, but dang, so much money and so little choice, if one has a Dental problem that must be addressed.
Reply:prob depends on dentist where i like it is like $50 a tooth then it would also depend if you needed fake teeth to replace it
Reply:Not much, only pain and suffering.
Reply:.99 cents...or whatever some floss costs you.

tie it to a door and slam it
Reply:My dentist here in Ohio charges $90 a tooth. This is a higher end community so not really sure elsewhere what it would cost. Good luck! I am having dental issues as we speak. LOL I hate going to the dentist.
Reply:This type of extraction is not easy. Your roots may be curved and depending on the tooth or teeth that are being extracted some teeth like the Eye teeth are really hard since they are the longest roots in your mouth. Teeth that are broken at the gum line may also have to be taken out in sections. It is also important to make sure that all the roots and tips are completely out. Its not as easy as you think
Reply:Actually extractions (in CT) can range from $125 for a "regular" extraction to $250 for a surgical extraction. Most of your teeth might end up being surgical extractions. Call your local oral surgeons to check. If you want to go to sleep for the extractions it may be another few hundred dollars. You can do it with just novacaine. It's your choice. I would check into it soon before you start experiencing pain if you aren't already.

Hope this helps and good luck!
Reply:90-200 depending on your area. If you can find a free clinic though, you may be able to get it done for free or low cost.
Reply:It depends on the dentist and your insurace. I'd say maybe $600-$1,000 w/ out insurance and like $200 with maybe...
Reply:It is going to cost more than it would have if you would have had them taken out before. You are probably better pulling them out yourself. Ha! Shouldnt have waited until they were broke off and rotten. Not a good idea! People what are they thinking? I am sure you could have fixed them before they got that bad.

Wisdom Teeth extraction..Please share your experiences?

I am a 34 year old baby! I have put off getting my wisdom teeth removed for about as long as I could. One of the wisdom teeth broke a couple of weeks ago and my oral surgeon said that there is a huge cavity in it that pretty much rendered the tooth...rotten! Eeeww. Okay, so much for the daily rigorous brushing routine I perform on those nasty useless teeth. Anyway, she said they've got to come out. My appointment isn't for 3 more weeks, but it's all I can think about. I'm so afraid. I honestly don't know how I'll put one foot in front of the other and walk into the hospital. I have a heart condition, so the only way they'd put me out is if I go to the hospital. I'm afraid I'll wake up during surgery! I'm afraid of all of the pain I'll have afterwards. I'm afraid I'll sneeze, causing the blood clot to dislodge resulting in "dry socket" and I'll have that pain to deal with as well. I'm also afraid I'll end up with nerve damage! Please share your wisdom teeth extraction stories with me.

Wisdom Teeth extraction..Please share your experiences?
These concerns should really be talked over with your doctor at consult. I work for an oral surgeon so I will share with you what I have learned.

Dry socket is a clotting issue. You are correct in stating that. For the most part patients do not develop this but some can. It is easily treated though with medicated packing. It is important to follow ALL of your post op instructions carefully. No straws, rinsing, brushing or forceful spitting on day one. Day 2, brushing is safely done but be careful and rinse with salt water morning, evening and after meals for a few days. Day 3 use the syringe to gently flush any debris that settles in the sockets.

Don't worry about waking up during the procedure. You will have an iv in place the entire time. If your surgeon sees too much activity coming from you he/she will give the proper dosage to help keep you sedated. The nice thing about iv sedation is the doctor can control how much to use during the procedure. When a patient uses an oral sedation the doctor is pretty much limited to how he/she can control the sedation.

There are signs that the doctor is trained to look for if more sedation is required. Usually arms start to lift or squirming in the chair. I have never seen a patient just pop up from the chair and say ouch. when they start making movement the surgeon will stop what he/she is doing and administer more iv sedation and it's night night time again until he/she is finished.

hoped this helped. and just so you know. removing wisdom teeth is a breeze. don't worry, be happy they'll be gone.
Reply:I AM 17 %26amp; JUST HAD MY ALL 4 WISDOM TEETH REMOVED, HAD IT DONE IN LOCAL PRIVATE HOSPITAL UNDER GENERAL ANAETHESTIC, I WAS FINE, THE PAIN %26amp; SWELLING WAS BAD FOR 2-3 DAYS THEN IT STARTED TO GET BETTER. YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT, THINK ONCE THEY ARE OUT THERE OUT FOR GOOD Report It

Reply:well i havent had wisdom teeth pulled but i had 4 other teeth pulled at one time 3 of which were right on top of each other. All they did for me was give me a shot that made my mouth numb and they pulled them. i couldnt feel anything. now as far as pain i just know that i took advil or sothing like that right after. but other than that i cant even remember it hurting. and i had no problems woth the clot either.
Reply:a sneeze will not dislodge a clot.. you will have to chomp down on a gause patch for a while.. just follow the dr. instruction,, take your pain pills and don't do anything stupid like eating hard food.. take it easy for a couple of days with soft stuff and you will be fine.. oh and.. remember.. ice cream.. is a good friend.. couple of days.. you will be bout done.. in a week you will never know it took place.. (french vanilla.. now that is comfort)
Reply:I had mine taken out when I was 15 or so...and, well it wasn't fun to be honest, although i don't remember much of it. They gave me laughing gas, then (if I remember correctly) they gave me an IV, and then i woke up with bloody gauze in my numb mouth. I spent the next couple weeks knocked out on pain med, hence why I dont remember much. I have had a few procedures done and that was my least favorite. I highly recomend the blue icepack they sell at walgreens and etc..that helped a lot, and I hope you can just sleep for a week or so...good luck, and don't worry too much, you probably won't remember much later on...tell your dentist about your worries!!!
Reply:Well, I had my wisdom teeth extracted when I was 19 and it wasn't bad at ALL. You have nothing to worry about. I was put under local anesthesia at an oral surgeons and I was eating mashed potatoes later that night. Felt no pain at all!!! I was scared of getting a dry socket as well. My clot fell off before it was suppose to, but I never had any problems. I was a little sore a few days later, but no big deal at all. I am in dental hygiene school and have observed MANY tooth extractions (not just wisdom teeth), and you have nothing to worry about. The worst thing that could happen is dry socket, but if you take proper care of the incision after surgery you will be fine. Don't worry about waking up during surgery either. Wisdom teeth are one of the most common surgeries that oral surgeons perform on a daily basis (probably 6+ a day). Don't worry you will be fine:)
Reply:I had my first wisdom tooth pulled the old fashioned way by a dentist when I was 34 which was like a nightmare as compared to the last three which were taken out my an oral surgeon. I was 37 at the time.

Under anesthesia, your oral surgeon will be able to pull the rotten teeth quickly and completely without you having to experience the effort it will take to remove them. The surgeon will pack your gums and administer pain killers before you wake up so you won't hardly feel a thing when you go home.

My advice to you is talk to the anesthesiologist about your fears. I had a situation during major surgery where I did wake up but not fully and it was quite disturbing. I let my anthologist know and he took special care to make sure that I did not wake up before I hit the recovery room.

Another thing you can do since you have a 3 week wait is to prepare to eat soft warm mushy foods for a few days after surgery and have these foods available before you have your surgery. Bananas, chicken noodle soup, apple sauce, spaghetti, oatmeal, rice, tea, etc. Make sure you have enough salt on hand to make glasses of warm salt water for you to rinse your mouth out with.

The most important thing is to follow all the instructions that your surgeon gives you so that you won't have any issues with infection or dry sockets.
Reply:I got my wisdom teeth takin out when i was 13 years old. I was just as scared but, it wasnt as bad as i thought it was. I am not going to lie to you and tell you that it didn't hurt after I got it done, because it did. But, I felt like an *** 2 weeks after when they stopped hurting. It might seem bad at first but, you get over it.
Reply:If U R that nevrous talk to your doctor %26amp; dentist about taking something b4 U even get to the office. I usually take a very mild sedative b4 I have any dential work done. U will need someone to drive U to %26amp; from the dentist. When my kids had theirs done at age 18, they had no memory of gettin home. They went into the office %26amp; woke up at home. One needed pain pills for 2 days the other only one day. Good luck.
Reply:I just had all of my teeth pulled about 2 weeks ago and from previous surgeries I have also shown that my heart doesn't agree with sedation, mostly coming out of it. It is scary.. I mean, I've practically lived in a hospital for majority of my life and had re-constructive jaw surgery 6 years ago so I completely understand the fear you have. Hospitals have that smell to them.. I even feel sick and get a headache at the thought of going to a hospital now. It's really not that bad though for a wisdom tooth.. I mean, I just had all mine out, under sedation.. but really isn't not that bad. I had an absessed tooth pulled while I was awake and the freezing didn't take.. and really.. it's wasn't too bad. Just think, as soon as it's out.. you won't be in pain anymore, if it's causing you pain. Just be honest with them, you're scared.. nothing wrong with that. A hospital is a scary place sometimes.

My teeth are very weak?

I have lupus S.L.E and fibromyalgia. I have been told by a dentis that although lupus does not attack your teeth directly but in directly it can in the sence that you have less saliva that helps keep your mouth clean. I look after my teeth and always have but my teeth are so weak yesterday I was just biting my nail (bad habit) and my tooth broke. I am seeing the dentis today. But what want to know can the lupus or fibromyalgia make somebody's teeth this weak or why is else would my teeth be this week.

My teeth are very weak?
You are fortunate to hav a dentist who understands this connection. He is right. I've seen this a few times (3 or 4) with SLE. I am not aware of any conncetion between fibromyalgia and tooth decay.

At least he will try to work with you instead of making you feel bad. Ask about Biotene products (available OTC) for dry mouth.
Reply:It might be serious, so I'll pray for you. Good luck!
Reply:hell i dont know maybe brushin them way to much or they are rdy to come out no matter if it is a permanet tooth if it is then u will have to get a fake tooth good luck girlie
Reply:the fibromyalgia can i have it along with diabeties and my teeth are so bad. i see the dentist more now that i did 2 years ago for repairs i have to get fillings on the outside of my teeth cause a couple places are rotted and he wanted to put something there to cover it up
Reply:I too have mediocre to poor teeth. Twelve crowns (see what I mean). I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and the ra is attacking my fingernails and toenails. I have lost 5 this past year. Teeth and nails are both made up of dentin aren't they?

I think these are all auto immune diseases.

Some years ago I snapped off my two front teeth biting into a plum. Go figure.
Reply:First, ask your dentist for advice. He is your best resource at the moment. The two diseases you mention attack the immune system which can cause a whole slew of secondary problems in the body. It seems that no one is alike when it comes to these secondary issues so prediction becomes difficult.

For example, I have Crohn's disease which is an autoimmune disease. Some of the secondary problems are arthritis, skin lesions, mouth ulcers and eye inflamation. I get the arthritis and mouth ulcers but not the other two. Some people can eat whatever they want during remission, but raw veggies would put me in the ER.

So you see, these types of diseases affect people differently. The important thing now is for you to take steps to minimize the damage done to your teeth. That's where your dentist comes in. . .

I Broke My Front Teeth. How much will it hurt to get fixed?

I've just been having an obviously bad weekend, because this is my second question on health. Yesterday afternoon, I passed out and took a nasty fall, breaking both of my front teeth and pulling one of them out of alignment. Will a local anesthetic help as the dentist works on me? And what can I do to prevent it from happening again?

I Broke My Front Teeth. How much will it hurt to get fixed?
If you have a good dentist - the needle into your gum will hurt more than the dental procedures. But it will cost a bundle.

Prevention - No more Running and no more Balancing Acts.
Reply:If you have a good dentist, it won't hurt at all. But do see a doctor to find out why you are passing out.
Reply:hey well i just finished my externship as dental assistant, and at the office where i was externing they would charge around $70dollars for an x-ray and it includes the evaluation from the doctor, then to fix it she would charge around $100-$200 dollars,it's called a composite restoration.
Reply:The same thing happen to me. It was a long process for me but well worth it. If your dentist replace your front teeth with implants, it is recommended that you try to avoid bitting directly into food with your front teeth because you can damage the implants. Why don't you seek a dentist that offer general anesthia so when you wake up, it will be over. If you decide to go local, speak up to your dentist and tell him or her to be gentle. Sometimes dentists are not aware they are being too rough. You can also ask for him or her to rub something on your gums to numb it so you hardly feel the needle when it is injected.
Reply:it shouldn't hurt at all to get it fixed. they have two kinds of anesthetic, local - which is administered by an injection into your gums, or general - where they give you drugs through an iv to make you sleep. if you do feel pain you should let your dentist know that you are not numb enough and then your dentist should give you more anesthetic. if you use local then you will feel the vibration of the intruments on your teeth, which is sometimes unnerving to people however it should not hurt. prevention - don't pass out and fall on your face, this sounds like a problem that needs to be addressed by a medical doctor
Reply:, If u have a good dentist, with all the new techniques you will be fine just to keep your mouth open worked dental 27 yrs and its a miracle how far tecnology has come.

Wisdom Teeth Advice?

for a few months now I my jaws have been locking on one side, I didn't pay much attention to it because it wasn't severe or affecting me in any way.

Then yesterday I woke up and had what I thought was an ulcer in my back left top side cheek. I checked with a finger and found the beginnings of a tooth breaking through the skin. I thought I already had my wisdom teeth come in at like 17 or 18, but after looking more closely I found a new tooth appearing on either side of both my lower and top jaws.

So, long story short, is it normal for wisdom teeth to come in at 24, what else can I expect to happen, and can the jaw locking be associated with the arrived of the wisdom teeth?

Oh and can I go without seeing a dentist or is that a necessity? Im not in pain, just a little discomfort, and my teeth are pretty straight to begin with.

Wisdom Teeth Advice?
Wisdom teeth can come in at 24. They may not come in and stay in they may move in and out of your gums over time. Make sure to keep them clean and brushed or they will start to decay and rot.

If they are not causing you any pain or they are not sore and breaking you wouldn't need to see a dentist.

If they start to ache, break, misalign your other teeth or hurt then get them pulled. You don't really need them anyway and the process is quick and easy although not necessarily financially painless :)
Reply:I think I heard the age of about 21 for wisdom teeth coming in so I dont' think 24 is out of the question (I don't remember how old I was). But it shouldn't be locking up you jaw. Have your dentist check it out.
Reply:You think, or know that you had your wisdom teeth out? Because if you haven't, then it could very well be them. And you should have this checked, because it may be OK now, but sooner or later it may be a bigger check at the dentist!

Reply:Some people have there wisdom teeth erupt in there early teens and with some people it takes a little longer. You should go see your dentist so he can refer you to an oral surgeon to have them extracted. Most people do not have a large enough jaw to support them so when they come in they will cause your other teeth to shift and move. They are also so far back that it is hard to keep them clean which makes it easier for them to get infected. This is why you should always have them extracted.

Your jaw locking could be caused from grinding your teeth at night when you sleep. I have this problem and I have to wear a night guard when I sleep so I don't continue to grind my teeth down. Talk to your dentist about it and see what he thinks. Stress is a major cause of people grinding there teeth.
Reply:I'm 25 and mine just popped through. I am going this week though to have them removed. Sometimes they cause damage to the teeth next to them so you have to get it checked out. The dentist will tell you if you have the jaw space to have them. Good Luck!

I've broken a tooth and don't have dental insurance! Help please!?

Several months ago (6-7?), I started experiencing a sharp, aching pain on the lower left side of my mouth. It was so bad that a sympathy pain had started on the top of the same side. I self-treated with Orajel for a few days before going to a dentist who told me I had simple gum inflamation and prescribed antibiotics. He said the pain would go away, and it did, sort of--at least it wasn't crippling agony anymore.

So fast-forward to two days ago. I was eating lunch and felt like I had something stuck between my teeth. Upon going to the bathroom to floss it out, a chunk of my tooth fell out! I don't have dental insurance, and I've been looking for a job for the past two months. I freaked and called my mom, but she didn't have any advice. Then this afternoon, I felt another part of the tooth loosen and fall out! Now instead of only a chip gone, it's 1/3! I've been covering it with gauze until I can talk to a dentist about what I can do, but I'm very freaked out. Any advice?

I've broken a tooth and don't have dental insurance! Help please!?
Talk to your dentist. Explain your situation. I know my dentist is super cool and she would make arrangements with me to pay it off at some point. Talk to the billing people at your dentist office. Ask if you can make very small monthly payments to start, meanwhile, look for a job where you can pay more and more each month.

I wouldn't put it off though. And I wouldn't get the tooth pulled in order to deal with it later. If you need a root canal and a crown now, do it.

Or, get a 0% interest credit card, charge it on that, have your parents help with small payments to start.
Reply:Most dentists will do work and bill you if it's an emergency. Do that and get a job to pay the bill. If you and your parents arent wealthy (by government standards) then apply for medicaid if your state has it.
Reply:IF IT DOESN'T HURT SAVE UP MONEY TO GET IT FIXED. IF THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE HAVE IT EXTRACTED.
Reply:Check with your local public health center.

You could join the military which has free health and dental care.

But then you may have to go fight

g.w bush's war.

And the republican party is against national health care.

Good Luck!
Reply:Ask your dentist about payment plans. Many dentists are starting to offer payment plans such as "Care Credit". If you have good credit this is an excellent option. At most offices that I've worked at, the first 18 months are INTEREST FREE. Which means you would be able to get the work that you need done before the situation gets worse and have a year and a half to pay it off with no interest. Waiting can be bad; the tooth can get to the point where it is unsaveable and needs to be extracted/pulled leaving a space which can cause other teeth to drift and lessen your chewing ability. You said you have no dental insurance so it won't matter too much what office you go to. Ask your current dentist first about Care Credit or another payment plan but if they can't help you, shop around. If you find an office that can offer you a better payment option, you can have your x-rays and other info sent from your current dentist. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Reply:Putting off dental work only makes it more expensive down the road. The cheap fix for now would be to call a dentist and ask how much an extraction costs - ask to borrow money from your family and have that done. Down the road when you are employed, you can save up for a bridge or even get a spacer in there to hold the place and keep your other teeth from shifting out of place and REALLY screwing up your bite.

But leaving the but of a tooth in there can only cause you more pain, infection, absess, agony, etc. Good luck!
Reply:Look in your phone book to see if you have a dental school in the area. They usually perform sevices that take longer because students are performing them while under supervision but its cheap.

Also you may have community health options in your area that work on a sliding fee schedules. They can be state wide or county specific. There are a few in Boise and some here in Oregon too.

And as a last option find an office that has "care credit" which is dental credit card almost and is usually 0% interest for 12 months. Many offices won't do payment plans unless you are a patient of record.

Would there be a problem if a filled teeth is brushed ?

i have a broken front teeth which my dentist filled it 4 days ago.currently i am using a mouth wash to clean my tooth afraid that i might mess up the filled teeth , but i have a feeling that my tooth are not as clean as they used to be when i was using a brush

Would there be a problem if a filled teeth is brushed ?
You NEED to brush that filled tooth. As a matter of fact, that is the only way you can keep that filled tooth healthy.

If you don't brush off the sticky bacterial plaque that is on the tooth, the plaque will break down the tooth's enamel where it meets up with the filling, cause the filling to loosen, and cause a new cavity under the filling.
Reply:You should be fine to brush by now.
Reply:How old are you and why don't you know the difference between and how to use tooth and teeth?
Reply:Brush and floss or you'll get a cavity from plaque buildup.
Reply:First of all it's a filled "tooth" NOT a filled "teeth". How old are u anyway? Well, it is okay to brush a filled tooth, when it is done drying.
Reply:After a filled teeth, you shouldn't brush for a week or you'll wash the filling out.
Reply:IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF THE WEIRED FEELING AFTER THE REFILL. IT'S AS HARD AS A BRICK, SO AS LONG AS YOU'RE NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PAIN GO BACK TO YOUR NORMAL ROUTINE. OR ELSE IT WILL START DECAYING AGAIN AND HAVE YOU GOING FOR ANOTHER REFILL. FOR NOW EVERYTHING INCLUDING EATING ON IT IS GOING TO FEEL FUNNY, BUT WITH TIME YOU'LL BE BACK TO NORMAL MINE TOOK YEARS.
Reply:MICHAEL,

FYI THE TOOTH WAS SAFE TO BRUSH THE MOMENT YOU LEFT THE DENTAL OFFICE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE IF THE DENTIST USED A WHITE FILLING WITH A BLUE LIGHT TO HARDEN IT.

THIS TYPE OF FILLING IS READY TO BE SAFELY BRUSHED THE MOMENT YOU LEAVE THE DENTAL CHAIR.

IF YOU DON'T BRUSH YOU WILL GET A CAVITY ON THIS TOOTH AGAIN = MORE DRILLING AND MORE SHOTS.

How do you get rid of the taste and smell from a broken and rotten tooth?

Sad to say, at this time I can't afford to go to the dentist. Stupid me, I thought somehow my tooth was broken, my friend looked in and said it was rotten. Now I know why I had bad breath I couldn't get rid of, Thank god it doesn't hurt, that's why I never suspected. It's the upper left 2nd molar, I can't see it but my tongue feels it. I tried to file the sharp edge with a nail file.

How do you get rid of the taste and smell from a broken and rotten tooth?
you might have an infection darling, and you need some antibiotics...I would go get some, because that could go into your system...okay?....and brush your teeth with baking soda, you will be surprized at how fresh your mouth will taste...Good luck
Reply:Pull it. That is pretty much all you can do. I'd start saving for a trip to the dentist if I were you. The laughing gas will be worth it.
Reply:try clove oil, works great!
Reply:See if any dental hygenist training school in your area takes patients for free. My son's gf asked him to come in so she could practice on him and it didn't cost him anything. A dentist works with them and does some treatments. If you don't fix this it will spread to more teeth. Or ask a dentist if you can spread small payments over a long time. Please try to get some help. It will affect your overall health too.
Reply:a dentist will pull it for 40.00
Reply:Well try to get to a dentist sure there must be some where you could get help..I guess the other thing would be to gargle with salt water and use lots of Listerine. Good Luck
Reply:Hate to say it, but you are going to have to get it fixed. It could be pulled, but may be saved with a crown and root canal. Yup, very expensive, but worth it in the long run. The problem with leaving it is that the tooth can become infected down through the root and cause you to have many more problems than that one tooth. That one tooth could wind up costing you a whole mouthful of money and problems including dentures.

Some dentists will take payments and some organizations may be able to help you out. Good luck.
Reply:If you are trying to mask the smell of a rotten tooth try eating 2 to 3 green Granny Apple's you will feel a difference in mouth Oder. I had the same problem before getting my tooth fix and a dental student friend of mine told me about the tip. It really works give it a try!
Reply:Whenever I had a rotten tooth my mom just had it pulled if it really started to bother me a lot. I had a lot of rotten teeth all thru school and it was no fun havin them pulled out 1 or 2 at a time. Finally I got smart and soon as I turned 18 I had all the rest pulled out, so now I won't have that problem anymore.

Wisdom teeth problem -please suggest....?

I have broken wisdom teeth since a long time, but now cavity farmed and became sensitive unable to drink cool water.I have consulted doctor temporarily he applied zink monoxide medicine with a rubber type material inside on infected area and prescribed my some antibiotic medicines along with pain killers. Now the pain has been maximum reduced and I am able to take cool water as usual. Whether i have to go for extraction or permanent cementing of teeth immediately or can I wait for some more months.any Dental expert please suggest me what to do..since the teeth appears to be very strong.......

Wisdom teeth problem -please suggest....?
Honestly the best thing to do would be to have then removed. The wisdome teeth can cause many problems many dentist want to remove them even if they are not decayed because they cause so much problems. If you have the rest of your teeth then I would highly suggest to removem them and get the posion out of your teeth. Also an abcess CAN tae your life not immedatly but if you get enough poison in your system you can get sick and die. Start making sure you follow a good oral helth reimin brushing at least 2 times better if after every meal and snack. Brush you teeth in a circular motion in a pattern. then every night before bed after you brush foss you teeth. and use a floride rinse remember you cannot eat or drink for 30 mins after you use your floride.
Reply:just get false teeth, they look better.
Reply:just get it pulled. You don't need it...
Reply:get your wisdom teeth pulled

you may have lots of problems with them growing out, infections under the gums for example (food gets under the gums), you can also get lock jaw from infections like that...

one side of my cheek swelled, got numb, and hurted to open mouth up much to eat......so......get them pulled....only takes about 2 days until you can eat solid foods..in a week, back to normal.
Reply:get them extracted fast before more problems occur. i waited to long and had lots of problems too
Reply:im no dental expert but if you need more antibiotics , go to a health foods store and ask them for some sulfer (NOT THE ONE WITH A SKULL AND BONES ONTHE BOTTLE ) sulfer is a natral antibiotic and you can also buy some tea tree oil to put on it untill you can go to the dentist.
Reply:Go get those babies out....Didnt you just read about that boy in the eastern united states that let his go got and infection and it went in his brain and killed him.....Bad teeth and gums are nothing to mess with. Also the germs from the infection can give you heart problems.make that appointment for the extractions...
Reply:To pull or not to pull.

Even though you are not in any pain right now the fix is temporary. Eventually the pain will come back and you will be left with the same problem. The tooth may be strong but that just means that you will be able to have many a painful chop on it. Getting it pulled now is always the best bet. You don't need the tooth anyway. However if you don't have dental through work then I would suggest waiting until you can save a little for it, unless of course you have the finances to take care of it now.
Reply:pull them out or more damage may occur.if you find yourself in jail (i hope you dont)they will pull them out for free ,so they can meet thier quota. good luck
Reply:If I were you I'd yank those suckers out! but you seem to be cautious so, pick which procedure will have less pain during and after.
Reply:Ask the doctor whether root canal can be done. If not, get it removed. To extract wisdom tooth, they generally charge double. If you wait for some time, you will be spending more for your other treatment from time to time. It will be economical for you to get it extracted now itself.
Reply:wisdom tooth are vestigial................jss get em removed...............u know.......the cavity can spread to adjscent teeeth.............................i got it removed surgically recently..........they are problematic.............!!!!!!!! u dunn need em,..........

consult a good orthodontist asap......!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can a tooth that is broken at the gum line have a crown attached?

My niece (13 yrs) has several teeth (molars) that have broken or rotted to the gum line. What is involved to save the teeth? If extracted, the other teeth will shift. Can a crown be attached to teeth that are not above the gum line? Any suggestions?

Can a tooth that is broken at the gum line have a crown attached?
yes the denstist will put a post deep inside and then crown it i had same thing done few yers ago nd never any problems
Reply:A crown only works well if there is some remaining tooth structure above the gumline.

If her teeth are flat to the gumline, then I would suggest root canal therapies if needed, then large amalgams secured with pins and /or posts. A crown would not add strength to the tooth, and could be a costly failure.

If a wisdom tooth had to broken to be removed, can it cause pain again years later if a piece was left in?

The wisdon tooth was wrapped around my jawbone and had to be broken apart to be removed. The nerves in my tongue were damaged at the time of the extraction. Even though I no longer have any wisdom teeth left, I'm experiencing symptoms of a wisdom tooth trying to cut through such as tender gums, jaw pain, and excruciating ear pain. The doctor says I don't have an ear infection. I'm also experiencing tingling and numbing sensations in my face and arm. I'm thinking a piece of the tooth was left in my mouth when it was broken apart and that it is now trying to cut through or perhaps it has grown into a nerve. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, will an x-ray show it if it is there? Going nuts needing an answer.

If a wisdom tooth had to broken to be removed, can it cause pain again years later if a piece was left in?
X- Ray should show if there was anything left after extraction.

The sensations you have experienced could be also due to the nerve damaged, but they are more typical to the damage of the inferior dental nerve (located in the lower jaw underneath the teeth), than to the nerves of your tongue. Whatever the case is - go and see the dentist.
Reply:go and see your dentist, they can give you an x-ray and they will know more than your GP. I sometimes get pain from where my wisdom teeth were, but not to that extent.

get to your dentist !
Reply:Yes, they can take an x-ray that would show if anything was left. You haven't experienced any TMJ problems such as popping of your jaw have u? That would be the only other thought, unless it is a new tooth. Very rarely people have extra teeth. Anyways, just go have it checked. Depending on the age when the tooth was taken out, if some of the cells were left/part of the tooth, it is possible it could have regrown some and now is reerupting.
Reply:go and see a dentist so they can do an x-ray asap

and put you at rest
Reply:a bit of the root could still be left in

How can i court her if my tooth is broken?

she likes me, i like her,but my tooth is broken

How can i court her if my tooth is broken?
so what, have fun with it, tell her you broke it stopping a bank robbery and joke about it then, its no big deal and if she thinks it is then she's really shallow
Reply:may be in where you live they didn't discover dentistry. travel somewhere far where u can find a dentist who can fix you
Reply:if she likes her, a broken tooth wont matter

talk to her about it

laugh about it

make it funny!
Reply:duh? there is a person called a dentist. go to one. then again, it would be a good "test" to see if she is shallow and would not like you "just because" of that broken tooth.
Reply:ok well whats the prolem if you want to kiss herr then i suggest that you pull the other tooth out or just tell her what haopend i dont think it is that bad...
Reply:it doesn't matter! well I know that it quite bothers you coz you're embarrassed about your broken tooth, but cheer up!

This girl might not even notice your broken tooth if you show her how sincere you are in courting her.
Reply:Dental office
Reply:that's not a problem. tell her you broke it, so what? she can either tell you to go to hell or make fun out of it. flash your brightest smile, and see if that doesn't overshadow your toothlessness. =)

About My Teeth!! :-(?

My two front teeth r broken. have been 4 about maybe 2 years?but u see ive gotten them fixed yet they broke again..fix...broken...fixed..brken.. get it? :-p and now my dentist will not fix them anymore! he said dat i have to wait until i am older and i will be gettin caps. i am 15 do any of u know how long this will take or what i can do about this!! :-( i love to smile and talk but with my teeth like this i barley smile or talk now because i embarrassed by my teeth! and ever since they broke my teeth got a little crooked! wat can i do! and i cant get a teeth makeover because we couldnt even afford sapcers for my teeth a few years back...any suggestions?

About My Teeth!! :-(?
I would go see another dentist and get a second opinion. There are other options out there, yes you may have to wait until you are older to put crowns on those teeth. But I would ask about other options.. Good luck
Reply:i suggest you seek alternative dentists
Reply:My grandson who is six years old had to have a crown on one of his teeth. He had damaged the tooth and it couldn't be pulled without causing him problems. It was also a front tooth . If they can crown his tooth, they can do the same for you. Your dentist needs to do the work or send you to someone who will.
Reply:Best option is to get crowns, while a lot of dentists dont like to do this till the patient is older, I think you are old enough. That will be the only true fix if the fillings keep breaking off. Crowns are expensive though (but your parents can check into CareCredit financing). The dentist shouldnt leave you 'high and dry' and not fix the teeth, so I would see another dentist and see what they say. Could be the material they are using too and every office uses different stuff. You have to be very careful with fillings, esp large ones, on the front teeth. No biting into hard things, they will break. Also a good idea to wear a mouthguard if you play sports. Good Luck!!
Reply:Yes, they should be fixed. Crowns work best in your mid 20's - you teeth will keep erupting - getting longer - so crowns done now will look off then. Also the nerves are larger, so it's hard to trim the tooth enough to make it look good.

Something should be done now though - sometimes you have to do the crowns (caps) at your age.

Recurring dream where all my teeth are breaking and crumbling.....?

I get this funny and recurring dream where my teeth start to crumble and break one after the other....its kinda funny but scary too.....what does it mean ?? Dont tell me it signifies impending dental check up or anything of that sort coz thats not the case.

Recurring dream where all my teeth are breaking and crumbling.....?
Your teeth breaking and crumbling represents the relationships you have with your family and friends. You are concerned about how you appear to others and their perception of you. You want everyone to like you and not judge you. When you learn to have more self esteem and realize that you are worth being in and having these people in your life, then your dreams will cease. Good luck.
Reply:Haha.. usually when you have a dream about your mouth it has do do with something you said to someone. Maybe you hurt someones feelings with something you said or said the wrong thing to someone or maybe your nervous about saying the wrong thing to someone. I don't know if this helps but just think about if you did anything like that recently.
Reply:Oooh, I have that one too. It's creepy as heck.

I always seem to have it when I'm really stressed, maybe your body's way of telling you that you're grinding your teeth in your sleep when you normally don't ?
Reply:I found this link for you but i've heard of this before and there are so many different interpretations. I've also heard it signifies a fear of aging, malnutrition, anxiety about your appearance and how people view you. Something about money, you are telling lies, or someone close to you is sick or near death.

Hope this helps.
Reply:Dreams about teeth falling out/losing teeth, normally have to do with a fear of change.

Reply:I can verify that it is because you grind your teeth. I have had this dream several times and I DO wake myself up grinding my teeth.

If you know what it means please help me out. I belive my dreams have a meaning but sometimes I cant figure it out.

DreaM...What Does it mean When When your Teeth are breaking off...??
Classically, this is fear of loss of resources - especially a fear of loss of money.

Instead of focusing on fears of loss focus on abundance.
Reply:For men, usually it's a fear of castration....

Since you're a woman, it probably means you fear you are losing control of a situation that is important to you to remain in control of.
Reply:"My Teeth Are Falling"

Dreams that your teeth are falling out are the most common dreams we here at Dream Moods receive. Common dream scenarios include having your teeth crumbling in your hands or your teeth falling out one by one with just a light tap.Such dreams are not only horrifying and shocking, but often leaves the dreamer with a lasting image of the dream. So what does it mean?

One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in conveying that image. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy.

Another rationalization for these falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.

In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.

Traditionally, it was thought that dreaming that you did not have teeth, represent malnutrition which may be applicable to some dreamers.

Other Perspectives

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money.
Reply:I've always heard that if you dream that your teeth are breaking and pieces falling out (rather than falling out whole), that means that you've been lying about something and are going to be found out. Also, the faster your teeth are breaking, the sooner you'll be found out. This is based on Chinese interpretation of dreams.

I had a dream like that once, so I looked up the interpretation, and it was TRUE. I was totally hiding something from someone, lying to him about it, and I knew he was about to figure me out. He did, too. Damn it.

The snow part of your dream seems to indicate that you're in an uncomfortable situation that you're trying to escape. This could also indicate that you're caught in some web of lies.

Could that be what's bothering you?
Reply:Teeth dreams are usually fear of being embarassed. Fear of insecurities that everyone knows about or can see. Relate the feeling of the dream to your day time life. What in your life gives you the same sensation of the dream? Start there, and figure out exactly what it means for you. For example if you had this dream and with in a week you have to give a presentation in front of a lot of people, it could mean you are afraid you are going to mess up or not be fully understood.

The water part my guess would be that there is something in your life you worry about, maybe stress a little too much about, that is really no big deal. Or you suspect something of someone that is not there. You think its one way but its not, and is actually good, not bad. Dreams are very personal so you have to parallel them with your life and what is happening to you now.

How to cover half broken front upper tooth?

Upper front tooth is broken, how to treat this deficiency.

How to cover half broken front upper tooth?
As many have said, one option is to cap the tooth. The other option is to see your dentist, and talk to him about bonding the tooth. If the pulp has been damaged, they will have to do a root canal, where they clean out the canal of the tooth, so there is no feeling in the tooth. I

In bonding, they use a material called composite. (Also used for filings) which can be matched to the color/shade of your other teeth, and they basically shape it back, and it looks very natural. If it is done properly, it will look just as normal as your real tooth before, and you should have no troubles with it.
Reply:if its a minor fracture we can go for veneer.if severe rct with post and crowns

Reply:Get to the dentist ASAP. It will start decaying and end up costing more if you wait so get in and let them cap that before the root gets involved and you have to have it pulled.

I have always had a fear of something like this happening to me so I feel for you. Take care and get treated now.
Reply:with cap.go to ur dentist.

I have a tooth that is broken.?

I AM going to pull it myself. The problem is I am not sure what the best way to do it is. I can't right now since it is infected and swelling pretty bad. Has anyone ever done this? The tooth is broken off flush with the gum. So dental pliers won't get it. It is very painfull!!! I do have percosets but they do not help. Can't afford to pay an oral surgeon to pull it. Will strong alchohol numb it enough to pull it? What should i use to pull it? i know i will have to get under either side of it and just pry it out. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!

I have a tooth that is broken.?
DO NOT TRY TO PULL IT YOURSELF.

There is nothing you can do to numb a tooth enough to pull it yourself. The nerves that gives the tooth pain sensation is deep in the bone, and there is nothing over-the-counter you can apply to your gums that can get into the bone to sufficiently numb a rotten tooth enough to be pulled. If you try, you will be in excruciating pain and may cause serious injury to yourself.

You need to go to a dentist who can first prescribe some antibiotics to bring that raging infection under control (inflammed areas are difficult to numb). After the infection is under control, you can go back to the dentist who can give you the proper anesthetic injections to totally numb up the tooth. Dentists DO have the proper instruments for retrieving roots that are broken flush with gums (elevators, root picks, rongeurs, etc.).

If money is an issue, go to a dental school if there is one in your area. They have emergency clinics during normal business hours for walk-in patients in pain, and their fees are about half that of a private dentist. Either that or a county health clinic.
Reply:I would recommend not pulling it. If it is infected, you may not be able to get the bleeding to stop. Very dangerous.
Reply:you have to go to the dentist ASAP.
Reply:Do you have a dental school nearby? Often times you can get care there for free or a reduced price.

If it is flush with the gums, I doubt you will be able to get a hold of it anyway.
Reply:IF I HAD A TOOTH WHICH WERE BROKEN, I WOULD GO TO SEE MY DENTIST---YOU MIGHT CONSIDER DOING THE SAME SO GREATER POSSIBLE FURTHER DAMAGE DOES NOT OCCUR.
Reply:Contact your local health department and they may can remove it for free. Go to your local Emergency Room and see if they will pull it.
Reply:You can get it pulled at NO cost at a County Clinic. Look in your local phone book. You can get a bad infection by doing this procedure yourself, DON'T RISK IT!
Reply:Do not attempt to do this yourself. You're asking for lots of trouble. If it's infected, you'll need antibiotics. You could cause a lot of trauma to your mouth and introduce bacteria into your body through an open wound. You would be susceptible to septicemia or a cardiac infection, just to name a few. Go to a university dental school or call your local health dept. for advice. My advice--see an oral surgeon.
Reply:call an oral surgeon.. tell him your situation, and ask if he has a payment plan.
Reply:dont pull it sense it is infected
Reply:Do not try to do this by yourself....it is dangerous to your health and it WILL hurt you. You need antibiotics because you have an infection. Go to the dentist, they are proffesionals and they WILL be able to help you. Do NOT pull it, because you are asking for a LOT of trouble!
Reply:Reasons not to pull it yourself: 1. Permanent nerve damage

2. Life threatening staph infection that cause you to end up in a very expensive hospital 3. Bone fragments that will break off and possibly cause even more problems for your remaining teeth Get the picture? Try to get soeme antibiotics if you can't afford to get it pulled, that will stop the swelling and pain and possibly the tooth will be okay again for a while, giving you the opportunity to save some bucks to get it out. Over the years I have seen lots of patients with broken-off teeth in the gums and they all say it hurt for awhile then it stopped bothering them so it IS possible that once the infection clears up you can buy yourself some time. There should be a dentist willing to prescribe you some antibiotics, maybe even call some in to a pharmacy, and do it at no charge or a very minimal charge. Good luck.
Reply:You can't pull out a tooth that is infected. You first have to treat i, and then pull it out. You should see a dentist as soon as possable because otherwise you'll cause you're self A LOT of trouble. Good Luck!

Does it get worse right before the teeth break through?

My son is 4 1/2 months old. He has been teething since the beginning of 3 months old. These past 2 weeks it's been the worst EVER. Today and yesterday, he has cried on and off alllllll day long (and that is so completely unlike him I'm shocked) He's usually really calm and relaxed and really, barely ever cries. I feel so bad. He's drooling, has red cheeks, cries in the middle of his naps for no reason. Bites SOOOOO hard and yanks away while nursing. Chews on everything he can get his hands on. He's running a slight fever of 99.0. I've given him Tylenol twice today, but I don't like to keep pumping him full of meds. I've also given him 2 doses of Orajel, but as soon as the meds wear off, he's bawling again. How much longer does this last before his teeth cut??? It's getting so bad and I feel so sad for him I wish he could get some relief. He normally sleeps through the night about 8 hours and wakes up to feed and goes right back to sleep. Last night, he woke up 4 times

Does it get worse right before the teeth break through?
Yes, it does get worse right before they cut.

My son cut 5 teeth in a week's time when he was 4.5 mos also...I feel for you!!
Reply:Illyana's teeth have been very close to breaking for a while now, but she actually seems very content at the moment. I guess babies all tend to take it differently. Poor little guy...unfortunately there's not much we can do but try all the normal things; Orajel, cold washcloths, Tylenol, teethig rings...I hope he gets better soon!
Reply:Give him a frozen washcloth to chew on.
Reply:iv been told hylands teething tablets are good too. i tried two on my son and he went to sleep right after i gave it to him. and yes i think that it does get worse right before they pop through the gums.
Reply:I cant remember the name but they have some kind of teething pills that disolve on the gums. Try giving him a cold wash cloth to chew on. It always helped with my girls when they were teething. Tylenol wont hurt him as long as he needs it.
Reply:It sounds like he is at the worst he will get but unfortunately he can have several periods like this. My daughter would have an entire week like this, get better for a month, have another week like this, etc. etc. Finally at six months she cut two teeth at once.

Keep giving the meds - they will help comfort him. Let him chew on a cold washcloth. You might also check with the doctor and make sure he isn't developing an ear infection (really common during teething).

Good luck - you'll get through it and so will he.
Reply:The only thing that I can recommend would be to keep giving him tylenol. and try baby Ambesol. I found it worked better and longer than orajel.

Good Luck

Anything I can do?

Why do my teeth keep breaking?
Hormonal changes..As we age,our teeth will be get more sensitive and more weaker... U don't eat candie's..,how bout crabs?...yeah!u should see a Dentist at once!before it gets worst...or you'll regret it....U'll never get to enjoy your food with an 'artificial teeth'...Im sure u wouldn't want that to happen,do u?so i suggest seeing a dentist is a"must"....Go! ASAP...At the mean time drink plenty of milk,it helps 2 strenghten your gums and teeth...aside from brushing twice or thrice a day....
Reply:YOU NEED CALIUM AND LOTS OF IT! Report It

Reply:Yikes!! I would go to the dentist....ASAP! Maybe you need more calcium in your diet!
Reply:Sorry I don't have the answer but you should visit your dentist, she/he knows what is the problem and what you need!
Reply:Maybe it is a thing in your genetics? If you can ask your older family members if they have this problem.
Reply:I had that problem with my bottom molars the(the last ones in the very back), I was grinding my teeth and they started cracking. I had to have them removed. Night guard for me!
Reply:I am not sure but I think that it's because you need some calcium but for more accurate results you should go to the dentist.
Reply:This is a question you need to ask your dentist. Only your dentist has a clue what is wrong with your teeth and why this happens. You should be seeing your dentist every 6 months for routine checkups if you do not have one scheduled soon then make and appointment and get this done and talk to your dentist about this.
Reply:If you are preg or have recently had a baby this could be the reason. If not I know a woman who' s saliva is to acidic for her teeth and she has the same problem She has to coat her teeth with milk of magnesia before bed . I think you better get to a really good dentist!
Reply:not enough calcium
Reply:I'd say you have some type of vitamin or mineral deficiency. You should see a dentist or a doctor.
Reply:Hun not to be to nosy but are u bulimic or anorexic?Because both will defiantly destroy Ur teeth.Bulimia from vomiting and anorexia from lack of food and nutrition.I am not trying to spiteful or mean, I am just concerned. But I will tell u if u aren't either, id definitely see a dentist.Could even be a medication that Ur on.

I still have my baby teeth and they are breaking away is this normal?

MY TEETH ARE BREAKING AWAY TO NOTHING. I ONLY HAVE 9 TEETH ON TOP AND ABOUT 13 ON BOTTOM. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN CARE OF MY TEETH. WOULD THIS BE COSMETIC TO GET MY TEETH FIXED.

I still have my baby teeth and they are breaking away is this normal?
You need to go to the dentist and have some x-rays taken. If you still have your baby teeth, some of your permanent teeth may be congenitally missing. What happens is your permanent teeth develop between the roots of the baby tooth. When the permanent tooth is ready, it pushes the baby tooth out and takes it's place. When there isn't a permanent tooth developed, the baby tooth doesn't get pushed out and it stays put. It will stay there as long as it is taken care of really good.
Reply:thats definetly not normal go to a dentist
Reply:how old are you?
Reply:Uh, yeah, how old are you?

I am terrified of the dentist!! I've broken a tooth!!!?

The one dentist I've trusted for 20 years retired--he was used to me passing out in his chair!! I've not been to a dentist in 5 years and 2 weeks ago I broke a tooth--it's in the back and doesn't hurt so I'm not real concerned now--but I know down the road it's gonna hurt. So how do I go about finding a new dentist who's going to understand I have a complete phobia about dentists--I know this sounds silly but I almost pass out in the parking lot, the smell of the building makes me nauseous!!! The sad part is---I work for an orthopedist!!! yeah I can hear the noises--so long as they aren't in my head!!! And it seems like the Hygienist has a vendetta against me--with her pointy tools and my gums!!! LOL!!!

I am terrified of the dentist!! I've broken a tooth!!!?
Check with area/closest dental schools to see if they have a fear clinic. If you are not close to one, see if they can recommend a dentist in your area. If both of those fail, try calling dental offices to see if the dentist is willing to talk to you before scheduling. If he/she is willing to talk, that's a step in the right direction. Next, explain your situation.

I've had lots of people in your shoes and have managed to keep !00% of them from passing out or otherwise coming unglued. It takes time and understanding. I hope you can find someone who's both.

Good Luck

My front tooth was broken and they fixed it by bonding it - Can i still get braces?

All they did was bond my tooth back to normal size and shape when it was broken...can I still get braces? How does this work, wont the braces re-break the bond?

My front tooth was broken and they fixed it by bonding it - Can i still get braces?
I had braces and 1/2 of one of my front teeth are bonded. It didn't break mine. Ask your dentist just to be sure.
Reply:it depends on where the bond starts. an dentist/orthodontist will have to look at it to determine whether braces would break the bond.
Reply:Yes you can still get Braces ,... That happen to me...
Reply:Yes.

but defiently you gotta ask your dentist about that

if not, you could always get invisialign which wouldnt produce such focused force on the tooth
Reply:Uhhh - Ask a dentist or orthodontist. They'll be able to give you the correct answer to your question. Not a bunch of yahoos who don't know dentistry.

My husband's teeth are breaking down...?

he says it happened to his mom and a grandparent. It starts out as a crack and then just breaks apart so much he has to get the tooth pulled. He use to smoke but stopped 1 1/2 years ago and he also used to grind his teeth but I haven't seen/heard him do it in at least a year. Any ideas what could be causing this or how we can help build up the strength in his teeth?

My husband's teeth are breaking down...?
People who made a habit of chewing ice will experience this kind of thing. When you chew ice the extreme temperature change causes the teeth to develop cracks, until one day you eat something like a marshmallow and a tooth breaks apart. Once the teeth are cracked it is just a mattter of time before they fall apart, and that sounds like what is happening. He will need to get a lot of crowns made.
Reply:eventually the outcome is dentures
Reply:I think you can get that if you don't have healthy gums. Your gums protects your teeth to keep them in place. You should see a dentist right away but I'm not sure how severe his condition is. I don't know if it can still be saved by deep cleaning or crowning if his teeth are weak but yeah, see your dentist as soon as possible.
Reply:yeah the same thing happend to my dad when he was in his 30's and he is alot better with dentures
Reply:USUALLY TEETH ARE SAFEST WHEN AREN'T CHEWING ANYTHING. CLENCHING OR GRINDING THEM AGAINST EACH OTHER IS HARMFUL BECAUSE TOOTH EMAMEL IS A VERY HARD SUBSTANCE.HAVINGAN NTI APPLIACE MADE BY YOUR DENTIST WILL KEEP HI FROM GRINDING AT NIGHT. PREVIOUS DAMAGE CAUSED BY GRINDING MAY HAVE CAUSED MICROFRACTRURES IN OTHER TEETH MAKING THEM PRONE TO FRACTURE.
Reply:The dentists call that "soft teeth."
Reply:NO such things as soft teeth. Grinding abrasion is not all that uncommon. The only way to "strenthen" teeth is good oral hygiene; which also prevents cavities and periodontal disease.
