If i have a broken tooth on my timing chain would my engine shake at idle or would it just not run?

Highly unlikely to break a tooth off timing chain gears.

If your 3,8 is shaking at idle badly then its probably got a misfire due to a faulty spark plug or plug lead. Usually more noticeable when giving the engine a rev or when under load.

Timing chains get very noisy but rarely break.
Reply:Would probably idle uneven and if it jumped timing it will not start
Reply:we dont see many t-chain problems on 3.8L/rough idle is usually result of vacumm leaks and/or carbon build-up in throttle body and idle air valve
