Wisdom Teeth Advice?

for a few months now I my jaws have been locking on one side, I didn't pay much attention to it because it wasn't severe or affecting me in any way.

Then yesterday I woke up and had what I thought was an ulcer in my back left top side cheek. I checked with a finger and found the beginnings of a tooth breaking through the skin. I thought I already had my wisdom teeth come in at like 17 or 18, but after looking more closely I found a new tooth appearing on either side of both my lower and top jaws.

So, long story short, is it normal for wisdom teeth to come in at 24, what else can I expect to happen, and can the jaw locking be associated with the arrived of the wisdom teeth?

Oh and can I go without seeing a dentist or is that a necessity? Im not in pain, just a little discomfort, and my teeth are pretty straight to begin with.

Wisdom Teeth Advice?
Wisdom teeth can come in at 24. They may not come in and stay in they may move in and out of your gums over time. Make sure to keep them clean and brushed or they will start to decay and rot.

If they are not causing you any pain or they are not sore and breaking you wouldn't need to see a dentist.

If they start to ache, break, misalign your other teeth or hurt then get them pulled. You don't really need them anyway and the process is quick and easy although not necessarily financially painless :)
Reply:I think I heard the age of about 21 for wisdom teeth coming in so I dont' think 24 is out of the question (I don't remember how old I was). But it shouldn't be locking up you jaw. Have your dentist check it out.
Reply:You think, or know that you had your wisdom teeth out? Because if you haven't, then it could very well be them. And you should have this checked, because it may be OK now, but sooner or later it may be a bigger check at the dentist!

Reply:Some people have there wisdom teeth erupt in there early teens and with some people it takes a little longer. You should go see your dentist so he can refer you to an oral surgeon to have them extracted. Most people do not have a large enough jaw to support them so when they come in they will cause your other teeth to shift and move. They are also so far back that it is hard to keep them clean which makes it easier for them to get infected. This is why you should always have them extracted.

Your jaw locking could be caused from grinding your teeth at night when you sleep. I have this problem and I have to wear a night guard when I sleep so I don't continue to grind my teeth down. Talk to your dentist about it and see what he thinks. Stress is a major cause of people grinding there teeth.
Reply:I'm 25 and mine just popped through. I am going this week though to have them removed. Sometimes they cause damage to the teeth next to them so you have to get it checked out. The dentist will tell you if you have the jaw space to have them. Good Luck!
