You do need to take the hamster to the vet. While there teeth do grow back, the chip probably is uncomfortable or even painfull for the hamster. Also the chip may be making it harder for him/her to eat.

Here is a link to a rodent vet database:

Normally they charge under 40 bucks. My vet charges 28 dollars. You can also call the petstore or breeder where you got him/her and ask what vet they use. Normally it is a local in town vet.

Also, hamsters chew their cages out of boredom. If you have a crittertrail or habitrail cage then it is probably to small. Hamsters, ALL hamsters need at least something the size of a 20 gallon aquarium.
Reply:go see yourself
Reply:More than a new hamster.
Reply:my guinea pig jsut chipped her ooth today. its nothing big shes done it before. they grow back really fast
Reply:aww call the vet and ask what the approximent price is!
Reply:not sure they can do that, I would take it in immediately, they won't charge you too much to look at it.
Reply:Your hampter will keep nippling on everything and it will even itself out. dont worry, your hampsters teeth are ok.
Reply:Calm down itz no problem. Hamsters teeth grow back anyway. It'll be the right size in no time. I dont really know about the website cuz how could a tooth growing grow into the hamsters brain, it cant not from a broken tooth. If youre really worried go to the vet the price depends on what vet you go to but maybe it'll be between 30-60 (just guessin)
Reply:Don't worry about your hamsters teeth, They are always growing, Thats why you should always keep wood or other chew stuff for there teeth, It should eventually get back to normal.
Reply:The important factor is whether or not your hamster is eating. If he is eating, just wait and see if the tooth grows back. If he is having trouble eating (slobbering, ignoring his food) you need to take him to your vet. They will probably charge an exam fee (around $50 usually) and they might have to give him some gas anesthesia to examine and clip his other teeth. You could call in the morning and get an estimate. Good luck.
